I got hopelessly lost today :oops: So I gave up and drowned myself, then I made a bed in my new house and slept in it then made a compass...and my compass points to my other house, WTF!!

Do I need to die to have my spawn point properly reset to the new house? I shall go throw myself into the sea and find out! Goodbye cruel world!!

Just tried it and no dice. I did respawn in my new house, but the compass still points to the old one. So no wandering too far for me in my new domain!

Meh, from the Minecraft Wiki:

Sleeping in a bed will change your respawn point, but will not change the original spawn point and location the compass points toward.

Jelly can you get coordinates on yours? i don't know if f3 works for you, do you use Spoutcraft or the default minecraft browser?

if you use minecraft then f3 should work. just scribble down the x and y (z if you feel the urge to be thorough) and its relatively easy to find your way back :)

I'm a huge sandbox game fan (Minecraft, Sims, etc.), which isn't really what GI is all about... But still. I love flipping through gaming magazines. :drool:

I remember having a few Game Informer issues which had previews of Sims 2... I used to reread them CONSTANTLY and even plan out my families/houses... Although I didn't even own a copy until 2006. :rofl:

I like Notch and all, but... eh. I get a feeling that Jeb will make this game a lot more dynamic in the coming months.

I o think Jeb is going to bring some very interesting things into mine craft. I can't wait to see what he does. I love notch but eh.. I was kind of really put off by him and his fight with yogscast. Plus it just might be really nice to see what other people can add.

I still remember the very first time I logged into my friend's server. Staring at the neat pixelated landscape and then...SSSSsss*BOOM!* after my heart restarted it's beating..SSSssss*BOOM!* and I died. >_>

Love the game though, it's easy to lose time and get lost when you forget where your house is. And if it's night time..please remember to close your door..skels are a pain. Took me two deaths, but I got him on the third try.

I was shocked about the Notch/Yogscast falling out, I wonder if it was mainly down to egos and misinformation. I'm just looking forward to the next update, it's really is nice to play a game that's constantly having new content added.

I don't think we're ever really going to know what went on between yogscast and notch. I just don't think it needed to be blasted publicly. That sort of thing always puts me off. Who knows, I've never thought of yogscast as the sort of people that would behave the way notch described but then I didn't see notch as the type to act immature and fight publicly. Notch was at the GDC one year and seemed incredibly down to earth and level headed. But, I think, like any other person, when you're really passionate about something, sometimes you do things that are just crazy. He's created something truly special. If he felt that was being attacked in some way, I can get wanting to lash out. But after following yogscast for so long they've also never come across as anything but crazy fun gamer guys. So who knows. probably a whole mess of misunderstandings. But I do like how yogscast responded so, even though it may not be the case, I've sort of sided with them and need a little less notch. at least for now.

If I have to choose a team, I'm pro-Notch. I was very sorry to see him go, and if his allegations were true (really, Yogscast, instead of feeling honored to be a guest, you demanded to be paid?), those guys are some serious dicks.

That being said, there were disappointments all around. The first tweet - which was more of an unnamed reprimand - I see no problem with, but he never should have responded by calling out Yogscast specifically, and should have spoken to them directly.

Lessons learnt and all that. I'm just looking forward to whatever happens next. I like the fact that there's aspects of Minecraft that I haven't even looked into yet, like the enchanting stuff. Also, I'm very excited to see what happens with mods in the future. Is the intention going to be to make it so people can add mods as easily as texture packs? I'm not sure that I understood what I've read completely, but that's the impression that I got.

Sort of like the Elder Scrolls, where they give players the tools to add on? That would be really cool!

Yeah, I haven't even LOOKED at enchanting yet, oof. I mainly play on a multiplayer server, which means a lot of building.

Currently I'm tackling a HUGE project... trying to make Dalaran from World of Warcraft in game. D: It's been insane. I'm not even done with the cathedral yet.

I'm intentionally avoiding Minecraft right now, gotta focus on Mene event stuff xD

I need to get back into playing now that some of the dust has settled from post-finals. Another thing that I should look into is actually finding a server. I've always been curious but I never really felt like I had the time to go out and look for a good server to join. :c

I have a recommendation if you're having trouble continuing to build.
Build an underground pathway so that if a creeper is at your door you can quickly move to a creeper free door and escape

I was on a friend's server for a bit, until RL caught up (finals, finals, finals :gonk:). Now I'm not even sure I'll be playing Minecraft for quite a while... At least until another interesting update is released. :mrgreen: (Though the animal eggs in creative sound interesting... Never played in creative, though so I hope an animal egg system would be possible in Survival! I think it'd be an easy way to "preserve" certain types of animals, that way you don't end up slaughtering your last pig like an idiot and have to wait to get more pork until you can secure a new pig from elsewhere. :gonk: TEDIUM!)

@Facade: Yeah, finals killed any gametime I had for minecraft (or any other game, lol). I still haven't really had the time to get back into it between the holiday madness and this week I have a busy work schedule. D:

I was also toying around with an idea I had for an adventure map. I might have to ask one of my friends with help on the redstone circuitry though. I know all the basics, but there is some crazy stuff you can do that I haven't even begun to experiment with.

Ohhh, I haven't even TOUCHED redstone. :rofl:

I hear you there. I can only make the most basic of the basic and anything more complicated just makes me feel like a derp. A few of my friends know how to make some of the more complicated stuff so I might seek their help or spend an ungodly amount of time studying how to make it work.

I don't know much about redstone either. My friends showed me a link to a redstone-powered animal cannon though xD

Was it on youtube? I think I saw that one. I also liked the pig-powered slot machine and the slaughterhouse death chamber.

Redstone isn't too hard to figure out. If you're just placing it on the ground, it acts like a wire, so if you have a level next to it, you can turn it on and off. A button will activate it for about a second or so.

I was playing around with redstone and pistons and was able to make a closable gate.
Granted, it can only be 3 blocks wide and the middle block has to be either wood fence or iron bars all the way up.
But by hitting the level on each side, I can push that section of the gate in, thus closing the gate.

it's a bit hard to explain, but I'll try to get a screenshot or 2 up.

Yeah, I can make a gate (which is always fun for "secret passages"), a few basic traps, and a garbage disposal. Maybe if I tried experimenting a bit more I'd learn how to do the more elaborate stuff, but I haven't really had the time. :c
