Cinderella: Don't get too worried if you slack a bit, just keep telling yourself that you can do it. Undegrad years aren't too hard and I was able to get through it just fine.
Make sure you give yourself either a night to relax or a few hours a day to just relax and defrag from all of the work.
I still do it and I'm a Grad student. I make sure to be done with homework at a certain time so I can relax and watch some vids online before bed.

Ser is very right. If you don't take a day a week, or a couple hours a day to yourself, you won't be successful in college. I mean, it is possible, but you'll be stressed and unhappy, and lots of things go wrong when you feel that way.

It is not possible to be unstressed 24/7 in college, of course, but if you never take time to forget about everything, you'll have problems.

Also, get to know your professors. You will need people to give you references for either grad school or internships, or something else.

Yeah, and definitely if you get into grad school. Keep in touch with your professors.
I regret not doing so :/ I kept getting busy and sidetracked that I never got around to e-mailing a couple of them.

I've never kept in contact with a professor after I've been done with their classes. Taken many classes from one teacher before, yes.

I felt like I should at least do so since I got my degree at the one school and the fact a couple of them did my letters of recommendation. But, life sidetracked me ^^"

I wouldn't begin to know how to keep in touch with a professor without making the relationship "personal" is all.

I've had a couple professors I would have killed to be related to. One grandmother-like, and one crazy aunt like.

I had professors I got along with and had stuff in common with. One of them and I liked the same hockey team and we also had a similar taste in music.

I get along with a lot of professors that other people don't like because they're "too strict." I dunno why, it's just how it is, so I end up teacher's pet that way.

I get along with profs others like, too, but for some reason I'm usually able to handle and come to love hard ass professors.

There have been some completely intolerable shits that I've lived through that either everyone hated or everyone liked, though.

Yeah, I usually will give them the chance and go "eh, it's just how they are" and "they don't want us to be stupid"

One of my professors mentioned how people will complain about how many papers they assign by saying that professors are massacists in that aspect. Yeah, we students are screwed with having to type the papers. But, the professor is the one who has to read and grade all of them

Old thread, how I missed you *squeeze*.

I love when professors fail to give page limits and only minimums. They rarely make that mistake again... mwahaha!

Twenty-two page paper entitled, "Google is God and Vote for Stephen Colbert." 98 on that paper.

In some cases professors are required to assign that many papers. Or a professor will have one large project the whole semester and everything is easy, and people start whining like babies. It's like: suck it up, you're past twenty, this is a 300 or higher level class, and you need to do it.

The longest paper I've turned in was about 12 pages. That was on a no page limit, and it was on the "love is chemicals in the brain" debate. I was very interested in the subject. Loved writing it...but wish I could remember more of that info.

If you don't put forth some degree of effort you'll never get anything out of the class. I guess you'll never find that "perfect" teacher either.

Oh that's such a fun debate! It's just so much fun to think about. Maybe love can be boiled down to a math equation but with billions of variables and influences its impossible. Like love, we'll never fully understand why or how. So we can all feel that warm fuzzy feeling because it's utterly pointless to think about it as a math equation. If you do you just changed another variable. Paradox!

The biggest paper I did was my Senior thesis for my major in undergrad. The limit was between 25-30 pages. Or around there. It was a pain in the ass.

Right now, the papers I have to write are usually around 5-8 pages ^^" My portfolio when I graduate, the biggest for it is probably around 7pages. We'll see when it comes to it

Glad you like my costume. I figured since it was October, might as well change ^^

ugh. I'm done telling him when I'm freaking out and panicking and how much I miss him and such. I'm just going to internalise it. It made him depressed and apparently I didn't ask him a certain question.

That could not have been fun ><. Everybody takes those so seriously. Like paper vampires sucking out every drop of fun.

That's good though! Bigger portfolios the better. A nice little "thud" when you drop it down in front of a perspective employer.

Aw... bad Mike. *Throws newspaper at*

@nonsense: That's pretty much what my argument ended up being in that paper. I presented both sides, but ultimately chose my own conclusion which was that trying to pinpoint when, why, and how people fall in love just takes the "fun" out of it. Ruins it.

@Ser: 5-8 pages isn't that bad. You can tell I've been in a shitton of writing classes to say that. People who've never dealt with that shit whine about 1 page double spaced. NEWBS.

It's not good to internalize stuff. You need somebody to vent to, and if you can't vent to your own boyfriend, wtf is he worth?

It's kind of like the Heisenberg principle is it not? Replacing quantum mechanics with "love" x3. You more you observe something the more uncertain the answer becomes.

I usually write my things single spaced and then turn them to double spaced. So I'm used to it. If they need single spaced, it isn't new to me.
