Lol, thanks for that. You act like I've never heard that before.
And what is the difference between English and English Literature?
I see little difference between the Humanities degrees.
A degree is a degree, so long as it's a 2:1.
Nearly all degrees in England are 3 years, but yes, mine is 4 years, because I'm spending my 3rd year studying in Massachusetts.

I want to study some broader stuff, maybe a language.
Preferably beginner German - I liked it at school but have forgotten much of it.
But I could take the chance to do a new language entirely.

Hmm, there was a German thread in the Menewsha Nation at one point, where you could just hang out and talk in German. I've lost it now though, all I have is the French thread. I've also got a thread where you can talk in any language you want, just if people feel like practicing. I know I could always do with more practice, but I'm a bit lazy. :c

You good make a new German thread. If you can't find it, it's probably lapsed. Might be gone. Not too many people speak German.

It's like finding about a thousand people who play D&D when you start playing. It's weird, they just like... find you. lol. I love the game, and like half of the people I've met in the past few years play, and more than half of the people who didn't already play, wanted to try it. :)
Since starting German I have found a lot of people who do, and met even more, who "always wanted to"

The German I'm most familiar with is... of the military kind.
I watch documentaries.
Kommandant, achtung, schnell, Deutschland uber alles, Juden...
Ooh. And "mein Handy", I love that xD
I can say normal stuff too. (Forgive my spelling, etc)
Guten Abend, mein Name ist Pearl, Ich bin neunzehn Jahre alt. Ich wohne auf England, es ist nicht sehr schön, und es heute regnet.
The bit about rain was a total stab in the linguistic dark, lmao xD;;

Heute regnet es.
conjunctions usually kick the verb to the end of the sentence.
And schnell is not military. it means fast... or now in some contexts.
German is a fun language. French always sounds like you're... wilting... i guess.
It's very blah. I love German though. It has power to it. :)

Yeah, I know what schnell means, but it's the kind of thing soldiers yell.
It's also a line in Blackadder IV: "schnell! Schnell! Kartoffelkopf!"

If I do take a German class, I might choose to not mention I took it for 5 years, and impress them with how quickly I take to the basic phrases. 8D
It won't be worthless to me though, I think. The intro class "imparts an active command of German" which will probably be useful to me.
It's hard to judge what kind of level I need, it's been nearly 4 years since I took a class, but I could converse a bit once upon a time.

I took Latin, but that was two years ago. I've forgotten most of it, I'm afraid. It's a dead language, but there are a lot of roots used for science terms, and I am planning on being a scientist.

I'm barely a gamer but like most people of my generation, I can use a controller.
Being a TV & film geek is my main claim to being a nerd. Particularly my tendency to learn large chunks of quotations, and be overly familiar with seasons/episodes/titles. (Anime and manga not included, lulz, but Calvin & Hobbes is)
I don't learn quotes on purpose, but if I watch something 3 times (once on TV, twice on DVD) I just pick it up.
Also I'm often uneasy when I meet new people, but I'm improving. xD I can now phone strangers without any qualms.
I would say my general ability to slip into fanaticism is what makes me a geek/nerd.
Buuut it's beginning to fade as I leave my teens.
----------
Mene is obviously -10 normal points as long as I keep coming here.
