Mmm, I mean - you don't have to enjoy everything you're good at!

Yeah. But what makes it really funny is the fact that I'm also good at science and enjoy it, especially chemistry. And I'm hoping to get a physics minor. Can someone PLEASE tell me how that works with someone who HATES math?!
And I've got to get off. I'm going to bed right after the news. Night everyone!

i wish I was good at maths...but because its always been a weakness of mine I ended up hating it, especially in year 12, when really shouldn't have chosen to do it in the first place.

Oceanography is the most boring class ever!! Oh my gosh. I love Geology classes, but this one is just... ugh!! The professor has a boring, kermit the frog like voice, and he talks quietly. Also the class is late, and I'm gonna have trouble not sleeping in it. :(

Yeah, a bad teacher can make even an interesting class boring. I had a late class once and I swore to never do that again.

I didn't do it on purpose. And I have six hours of free time between classes. I guess I'll use it for homework.

I know you probably didn't have much choice. that's how it worked out when I had a late class, but I vowed to do everything I could to avoid taking a late class.

@ sarof: I've had that happen. My personal nutrition class teacher last semester was like a female version of Professor Binns from Harry Potter! DULL!!! Sure, I learned enough, but it would've been far better if the teacher was boring as hell.

I once had a lecturer who had a very throaty voice, always drinking water during lectures and still said she had a sore throat...the weird thing is I'm sure sore throats don't last all semester.

Haha! Maybe they were just embarrassed about how their voice sounded.

Or they had some kind of heavy infection and didn't get it treated till too late. That can cause permanent damage to your throat, and make you sound funny forever.

That too. And I've got two teachers from Germany; one's my German teacher, and the other is my ENGLISH teacher!

What makes it even funnier is the fact that they both speak better English than most Americans I know. And I'm American!

There's a lot of Americans who don't speak English well. Sad but true fact.

VERY sad. That's part of the reason i want to go to England; hopefully they haven't bastardized English so bad that it can't even be called English any more.

One would hope that the English would speak properly, but it could just be a sign of the times.

I think that as long as people can be understood - on the most basic level that's all that's needed.

actually depending on the part of England you're in, the slang has taken over even worse than here. It's kinda hard to understand anything anyone says. The Germans on the other hand, learn the basic English language all through school, and so they speak it very well.
For the most part it's not really our fault that we speak so poorly. Public schools suck. That's just a rule. The government is bad at every service they provide. lol.

I would disagree with that. That's an unkind oversimplification of a system of laws, organizations and regulations that are both vast and complex.

A system which was never intended to be vast or complex upon its creation. And one which I've seen fail at every service it has attempted. Public schools waist their funds on middle management and sports teams. The post office overcharges for a service which they barely provide properly. The legal system is a mishmash of spaghetti laws that contradict each other. I have very little respect for our government, and I think it should do something to overhaul itself.
Schools should model themselves like the ones in Germany and Japan. Our laws should be more clear, and absolute.

That would make sense. But we're freakin' AMerican! We NEVER do things that make sense!
Though, I hate to say that the US is heading towards bankruptcy. I honestly cannot see the country ever getting out of its debt, and I'll bet that they'll go bankrupt sometime in my lifetime. And I DON'T want to be in the country when that happens.

Well, bankruptcy would mean at least our debt would be cleared. Instead, I think we may get in so deep that we won't be able to get out again. I do not want to be in debt to China forever. You know, we had no debt under Clinton. And now look... stupid wars.
I do agree that the government is crappy at a lot of things. But we do have it better than other countries at least where they often don't have things like public schools or any sort of free health care. And public schools vary depending on state too. Michigan had excellent schools, at least where I lived but Florida was terrible.
