As of lately I've found myself extremely pissed whenever I roleplay. Whether it's the lack of talent or that people aren't trying is beyond me. Or it could be that I'm just stressed with classes lately. I find it annoying that I frequently check Mene to find myself disappointed. I am not a professional roleplayer and I know I have forever to go before I'm even considered great. But, when I see these other people, I just get irritated. Again, it could just be me. I sometimes get too attached to things so I tend to put them on a pedestal when I really shouldn't. I do it when men I crush over all the time. One minute I adore then, the next we're enemies.

I hate it when I spend time creating a profile to be told "Sorry, it doesn't fit." You know, if you were UPFRONT the first time, I wouldn't have to waste more time re-writing a profile. It's just... UGH! Roleplaying. It really pisses me off. I love creating profiles, but I am a full time student, too. And then the half-a persons that just write the dullest posts ever... like really? I didn't sign up to roleplay with someone who isn't interested. I know everyone is interested, but really... we can all tell when you're not interested. Trust me. It shows. Now I'm not saying one liners make someone uninterested as I avoid that style of roleplay. But you can tell when someone is off their game when their grammar and spelling spirals rapidly out of control. However, as I said before, I'm not perfect so even I have my off days. And yet, I still put forth as much effort as I have possible to make my posts appealing. This can again be related to my love life. I will try everything to keep someone happy, but when they stop going halfway to meet me... well, I simply lose interest. There's no point doing everything. A relationship (which can include a roleplay) is supposed to be a balance of give and take. Right?

I know, I'm ranting, but seriously, does anyone feel like this? I roleplay because I love it. Or at least... I thought I did. Maybe I'm just a bitter. Eh, whatever. Bite me. Okay, so I know I'm bitter. Wavi = a jerk. Or at least right now.

And I'm not blaming anyone. I'm just saying in general. I mean, there are a few people that I am talking about, but I'm not doing this to be mean. I'm simply doing this because I'm debating whether to leave roleplaying. Trust me, it's not you. I know it's me. I'm not being cruel or offensive. So don't take it personally. Seriously, I'm sure you're a great roleplayer and all, but your style just isn't fitting into my jagged puzzle-piece edges at this moment in time. Heh, I'd be surprised if anyone's could.

Any thoughts?

Oh, and I guess I should just state this up front. I'm afraid of being happy. It's the most pathetic thing ever. But when I finally find something I love, I tend to make it become something I hate. Perhaps this is just my cycle. We shall see.

Just in case you didn't catch it the first time... I am NOT blaming anyone or trying to insult, degrade, upset, or hurt anyone. I'm not looking to start a fight. Not looking to make enemies. I'm simply ranting about my latest lack of interest in roleplaying IN GENERAL. Okay. I'm done... for now. Now I have... a 10 page report due in two weeks as well as a 4 page report and a 6 page essay. I also have to work on a 40 page report with me team as well as another 20 page report with a different team. Yeah... fun.... So while I'm MIA, feel free to comment on this thread and, by the time my quarter ends, I shall see where I fair. Will I still roleplay? Will I still be on Mene? Or will I just move on? The choice is ultimately up to me, but I would still love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!

If you vote, I would love to hear your reason(s) as to why I should or shouldn't stop. Please and thank you!

If you enjoy it, why quit? I assure you there are people around that have the same interests as you, as well as the same literacy level and other things you are looking for. I have noticed roleplaying on Menewsha is more laid back. I find more serious roleplays elsewhere. If you would like, I could give you a link called RPG Directory. It contains thousands of different roleplay sites. :)

I agree, if you like it stick with it. I took a break from role playing for a bit because I was busy with other things. I missed it so I got back into it because I do enjoy it.

Take a break for a bit, it sounds like it's stressing you out more than you have fun with it.
You could also try creating you own RPs.

It might be good for you to just take a break for a little while, since it sounds like it's not being a whole lot of fun for you. And the point is fun, isn't it?

Or you could simply try another site, like someone else suggested, maybe Mene roleplayers just aren't for you. Or you could do both. Whatever pleases you :)

WAVIKZ. I SWEAR. IF YOU QUIT...
Well then I'll just have to go weep in a small corner. You are like, one of my favorite rp'ers, not that we've role played much, but I really enjoyed the Day Dreamers role play with you. You are absolutely awesome. Please don't goo D:

I'd say take a break so when you come back to roleplaying it might seem fresh and new again as opposed to something that frustrates you. If at that point you take a look at the RPs here and don't see any that interest you, you could always try another venue! Roleplaying is everywhere on the internet--on community sites like this, on more specialized forums, on journal sites, on instant messengers... And there are such a variety of different styles and themes out there. It could just be that you haven't found the best place for your preferred style of RP yet! But trust me. There's probably a place out there where you'll be happy RPing. :) And since it sounds like you take a good amount of time and care on your profiles and posts, I'm sure that place will be glad to have you when you find it. Good luck!

From reading your post it makes me feel like you should take a break? If something you love becomes a chore, you have to take a break. Or maybe be more discerning when you screen your RP partners? If you have fewer RPs but of a higher quality RPs, they might satisfy you more.

You can not quit!
That would be cruel - I may not be the best role player (I am by far not the best) but I do try hard! I post daily - and I often post more then anyone else until they quit because "I'm too active"

As I just joined a role play created by you, I think you should give it at least one more shot. I promise I will try my best to make my post's worth while - all the more so for your RP.

Don't quit something you love because other people are not meeting your expectations - people who may soon be me.

Smores.

Though I do say - Maybe you do need a break.
Maybe you turned it too much into a chore? Or a competition?

Awww, I love that you are all still commenting on this! As you might have noticed, I've recovered from my "dark roleplay days." Many because I've meet some awesome roleplayers who have inspired me to get back to my old self. ^_^ <3

Hmm reading this I think you just need to start your own RP or do a 1 on 1 RP with someone who is as dedicated of an RPer as you are.

Personally I suck at RPing and would never RP in a forum as I know I'd irritate some of the more active RPers. Also... with the new users coming into menewsha in waves it seems to make a wave of illiteracy that has to gradually upgrade to litteracy... as we seem to be getting a younger crowd, which spells much worse, and I do believe this is what you're annoyed by correct? Also the younger age's attention span seems to be getting shorter too (just from what I noticed, not that there aren't a lot of exceptions)

But I believe running your own RP might be the best option as you could "remove users that don't seem to care".

Ahh, the joys of the younger crowd....... Mixed Joys. Mostly annoyance... They try though and thats all that matters!

I don't want to act like a mod or anything, but please don't necro threads. Especially in the life issues forum. It's a big no no.

I used to wonder why I kept rping. I only really ever had 3 partners who were great and they all vanished. I often wonder why I bother cause I keep getting ditched for another rp, or they just dont care. Its hard to find a dedicated partner. The only thing I can say is to keep your patience and keep trying :[ especially if it makes u happy.
