Okay, so I was watching a show and it said that (for females) if your ring finger is longer than your index finger, then most likely you'll be a lesbian, and if your index finger is longer then you're more likely to be straight.
And I was like O.o - that can't be right.
Of course I don't count tv as a good source, so I then googled it :P
I also looked at mine and realized that mine were both the exact same length, which I thought was an odd coincidence considering I'm bi.
I then asked a friend who was also bi, and hers were the same length too?
I realize that it's probably a coincidence but now I'm curious
What do you think - could this be true?

No, I don't think it has really anything to do with your sexuality. My index is linger than my ring and I'm pansexual. That debunks that myth right there.

yeah, I'm bi and my ring finger is longer than my index on my left hand but they're the same length on my right....

As for the length of the finger in relation to your sexuality, no, I don't believe there is a correlation. Many things can stunt the growth, or increase it, of a limb. Your sexual preference would not be one of them. Sexuality and preference is initiated by neural impulses in the brain, this would effect you mentally, not physically.

Yeah...no. I'm straight and both of my ring fingers are longer. I've never heard of that association before. But I've heard of something similar: for guys, bigs hands or big feet equals...well, you know. Just as ridiculous in my opinion. :P

Hmm... that's interesting. I've never heard that before. Both my ring fingers were longer than my indexes, and I'm straight. I guess it's similar to another thing I've heard about how if your second toe is longer than your big toe, you're supposedly more intelligent/wise.

...you don't "become" bisexual. You just are. Sexuality isn't something you just choose to be.

Also, I doubt finger length corresponds to sexuality. Coincidence, more than likely. Like posted earlier, a man's hands/feet correspond to a man's penis size. My first and only boyfriend has massive hands and feet and an average to smaller sized penis.

You can choose to be whatever sexuality you want to be if you put your mind to it :3

No, no you can't. Because that would mean that you could also choose to not be interested in a group, and given all the entirely unsuccessful attempts at "fixing" homosexuality (and other sexual preferences considered unfavourable) such as hypnosis, self-hypnosis, guilt, and even shock therapy, that doesn't seem to be possible. Your "sanity" has nothing to do with it.

It doesn't count because you can't choose your sexuality daily. I was being sarcastic, if you couldn't tell. Sexuality is something that you just are. It's not like you can just choose it, like changing your hair every day or not. Are you attracted to both males and females? And I don't mean "Oh, she's pretty." way. I mean, would you want to be with either gender in a sexual, mental, and romantic way?

Now, did you choose that, or are you actually attracted to men and women? I didn't choose to be a lesbian. I just am one. I didn't choose to like women, I just do. I didn't choose NOT to find men attractive, I just do. No matter what I did, I could not find men attractive or appealing.

This would be sort of interesting if it were true though, or if there was some sort of logical reasoning to back it up. But then I'd hate to wonder what happens to the people who are born deformed and don't have fingers! o.o

And hmm, if the finger length was directly influenced by the inidividual's sexuality (or vice versa) then could you reduce someone's sex drive by severing their finger or chopping part of it off? ._.

Hm I wasn't suggesting that the length of your fingers can affect your sexuality, just that there was a relationship between the two

What if it was that obvious? What if that became a known fact and people with longer ring fingers were automatically shunned (that would be horrible)? The questions in my head went on & on and I was just curious about what other people thought about the possibility of a correlation between the two.

And sexuality isn't a decision.. I'm pretty sure if it were, there'd be a lot fewer gay people.. it's not exactly an easy path.

I think that's silly, personally. Since when does the length of a body part indicate your sexual preference? =/ That's like saying if you're a certain race, you will have this occupation.

It's not at all like that, but it may be a bit silly and obviously doesn't work (based on the polls and other people's responses) but it's something interesting to think about.

I just can't imagine connecting something physical with something that's spiritual. It's flabbergasting to me.
