I'd like to know some good reasons to be alive. I'm not suicidal at all, I was about a week ago or so but I'm over that now. I just want some reasons to be alive. I've got plans and severely enjoy chocolate but I'd just like some reasons.
Help?

Hahaha... chocolate alone is a good reason to live =D

But while there is a similar thread Here where people listed off 5 of their own reasons to live.

As for finding those reasons to live. Try this:

1 - Write down all the things in the world you like.
2 - Rate them all from 1 (not all that important) and 10 (can't live without it)
3 - After that is done you should have at least a few things above 7-8.

Then after that you can try to find more reasons:

1 - Write down all the things in the world you want.
2 - Again rate them from 1-10 on how badly you want them.
3 - This will give you a list of things that you want and can strive towards.

The result? You have things to cherish now (reason 1 to live) and things to drive yourself towards (reason 2 to live)
If ever those thoughts came back to you then you could look over that paper and remember all the reasons to value your life.

I like that idea but I'm just curious as to some reasons that people could tell me.
I can find my own, but I would like to hear from others.

^^ alright... I'm sure you'll get some people eager to share =)

Since you wanted other people's reasons, my personal reason to live is that I'm going to be marrying someone very wonderful and unique in May next year plus going to live in Japan when can... =) so I got a lot to look forward to.

Also >.>" wasn't joking about chocolate... that'd so be on my list of "must have"... near the top

You definitely have a point about chocolate, and good relationships can be such a gorgeous reason to be alive.

I don't think anyone can give you a reason to live as none of us will ever know what it's like to be you and live your life. That's up to you to discover on your own.

Hmm, lemme try and come up with some good reasons. First off, life is not fun when you're dead! That sounds silly and obvious, but think about it - if you're dead, you can't hang out with friends, go to the movies, go on dates, fall in love, travel the world and see its wonders, appreciate nature's beauty, pretend to be a pirate, or impact people's lives in a positive way. There's an infinite amount of experiences that life offers us, but death offers only... well, death.

...Well, I think that's pretty much the main reason I can come up with at the moment.

It's my philosophy, that's actually kept me from suicide on a few occasions, that so long as there is something in the world you haven't done, that you want to do, there is a reason to live. Even if it's something silly like, 'I've never ridden a horse, and I want to.' If you die, you won't have the chance to do it, not even a little tiny chance!

Currently, my Reason is that I want to get a place with my girlfriend and live together, and even though it'll take a lot of work it will be worth it! I just think about that dream, and how happy she makes me, and it helps me feel better every time.

Well I'm not expert on emotions or anything but I can sure tell you what keeps me alive. (:

Well for starters my family, they try so hard to make me happy and love me. Besides, one day they won't be around, so why would I want to throw all my relationships with them away? I love them a lot, and because I do I'll keep going and striving for them because they're always there for me.

My friends and my boyfriend, they have been there for me when I've been done or needed something and I really do love them as well. They're like my own little non blood related family haha. (:

And my last reason is that my life wasn't the best it was pretty bad, but I'm not whining, everyone goes through tough times. But, because of all the tough times I've dealt with my whole life I'm determined to give myself the life where I can be happy. And I won't get there if I end my life, I think I'll miss out on so much if I do. And I would have to be selfish to take my life, because it doesn't just affect me it affects all the close ones to me, so I want to give them the best just as I want the best for myself so I'll stick around and help out as much as possible and hope that one day I and the ones I love can be truly genuinely happy. (:

In the first place why did you feel that?! Is there something happened in your life that you wanted to throw out your own life. I think that's the dumbest thing I've ever read, and not only that there are those people who also feel the same as you do.

I think keeping your life is something you have to do, because there are plenty of things you can do before you die. Have you asked yourself what were going to happened when your already dead? Do you think you will be in heaven straight ahead, and having your soul wandering around smoothly? nah?! I don't think so.

I think one of the best reasons for living is that there's nothing to say that death is going to be any better than life.
Sure people all have ideas of what happens when you die. Just stopping, heaven n' hell, reincarnation, and all kinds of other beliefs, but personally I figure that the only way to know for sure is by actually dying and by then it's too late to go "Oops!" I wish I hadn't done that now".
Life may be crappy at times, but at least it's fairly straight forward. It's often mundane that's kind of a comforting thing to know, helps you relax and chill out before the next dose of drama hits.
Personally I think that playing it safe and sticking with life is the best option. So many millions and billions of other people stick at life for as long as they can, so there must be something to it.

For me.. I would say being in love. I'm marrying my fiance in 3 weeks, and I don't think I've ever been happier in my entire life. I want to be alive for many many more years, and spend them all with him.

Another reason is because I have a goal i want to accomplish before i die, and that is to positively impact the world so greatly that i will be in the future history books. :P I want to be remembered for doing good. Just dying and knowing that a few decades down the road no one will even know you existed scares me..

As for me, I'd like somebodies life to be better for having known me. If I find out that I've helped someone or more than one person to have a better life, then maybe I would be happy to die. But for now, I have that to strive toward, so that's my reason to live.
