"Of course not. We're not that bad, really." Damien grinned and took her brush, motioning for her to turn around so he could brush out her hair.

And if it mixed their scents again right before he went to see his cousins, well, that was just a bonus.

Rose obediently turned around and let him brush out her hair. She liked it when he did that for her, although she was the one to pull or braid it back most of the time. She didn't expect him to know how to braid hair, after all.

Damien put the brush down once her hair was brushed out and smooth, and he kissed the side of her neck before he went to go straighten out his clothes and get shoes again.

Rose shivered slightly when he did that, but went to finish getting ready all the same. Once her hair was braided back and out of the way, she put on a fresh shirt and slipped her shoes on.

"Ready when you are," she said.

Damien nodded and led the door for her, locking up after them before he led the way over to the restaurant. He knocked on the glass and a woman a little shorter and older than Dante went to open it.

"Damien, dear. How nice of you to visit. Come in, come in. Ah, this must be your... companion."

Damien snorted. "You can say the word girlfriend, Aunt Eve."

Eve smiled a little. "Yes, yes. I forget the human term sometimes. Welcome, dear." She turned her smile on Rose.

"Thank you," Rose replied, smiling back. "I hope my being here isn't an inconvenience."

"Not at all. On the contrary, we were beginning to wonder if Damien would ever settle down." Eve led the way inside. "This is my husband Adam and our two younger boys, Cain and Abel. They're twins."

Rose greeted each person in turn, still a little surprised at how much like her own family they were. And, once they were home again, she was going to make sure to tease Damien about having family that a person needed a Bible in their pocket to keep the names straight.

Damien had about two seconds warning before Dante tackled him, the two starting to wrestle. Eve rolled her eyes at them.

"Ignore them when they're like this. We do."

"Just like me own cousins," Rose replied with a bit of a smile. "Well, sort of. Except I'm usually one of the ones wrestling, and the one usually losing."

Eve smiled. "Maybe you should ask Damien for lessons," she said, slanting a look at Rose. "He almost never loses."

Damien flipped Dante onto his stomach, pulling his arm up behind his back and pinning him there. "Aunt Eve, play nicely. Or I'll have to use this pup as leverage."

"Go ahead and take him," Eve said with a grin. "Waiters are easy to replace."

"What?! Aw come on..." Dante whined.

Rose just laughed a bit, watching them.

"It's like being back with my own family," she said. "I'm from a big Scottish family, it's always this kind of fun."

"Oh yes. Big families are wonderful." Eve smiled and watched as her twins tackled Damien, the cat-shifter letting out a huff as he landed on the floor again.

Rose sat back and watched for a while. Damien looked like he was having fun, and she was glad he was. He needed the chance to unwind a bit like this.

Damien finally managed to get all three brothers off him, sitting on one and holding a second down. Dante heaved a sigh.

"Okay, we concede defeat."

"About damn time." Damien grinned and got up, hefting the two boys up as well.

Rose grinned as she watched.

"That didn't seem too hard," she teased.

"You didn't have the three of them trying to pin you down," Damien grumbled good-naturedly as he moved back over to her.

Rose rolled her eyes and gave him a quick kiss when he sat down next to her.

"Can't deny you had fun, though," she pointed out. "You've been a bit twitchy lately, anyways."

"Yeah, yeah." Damien grinned and pulled her closer before looking at the rest of the group. "So, anything new?"

"Not really. My sister still keeps in touch, although why she decided to move to the middle of nowhere I'll never understand." Eve rolled her eyes.

"This coming from you?"

"This isn't the middle of nowhere. This is a tourist town and it's far enough away from a city that we can get decent runs in."

Rose cuddled a bit closer to Damien and listened to the conversation.

"Why a tourist town?" she asked. "There have to be plenty of little bitty towns out there that don't get so many people in and out all the time."

Eve shrugged. "It's a nice enough town. There are so many people going through that they don't notice if one of us slips up, and the money is good. Besides, we used to come here when we were younger." She grinned at Adam, who just smiled a little, settling in with the boys.

Rose nodded to show she understood and settled in with Damien, leaning against him and cuddling a bit closer.

The rest of them all settled in too, just chatting and teasing Damien and Rose on occasion. At least until midnight, when Dante got up and grinned at Damien.

"You coming?"

"Sure." Damien pulled Rose closer, kissing her briefly before he let go of her. "We'll be back in a little while. Go back to the hotel room if you get tired."

"Go have fun," Rose replied, moving so he could get up and returning the kiss. "If I get tired, I'll head back, it's not far."

Damien nodded and kissed her again before he left, following Dante out the back so they could go running for a while.

He didn't return for an hour and a half, going back to the restaurant first to see if she was still there.
