Taylor fidgeted for a moment before sitting down next to Damien. Even then he didn't really stop fidgeting, though.

After a few more minutes, Rose came back out.

"She's in surgery," she said. She wasn't surprised to see Taylor there. "They said her car ended up wrapped around a tree, they probably won't know what really happened until Sera can tell us. But they think she'll be moved into recovery pretty soon."

"So they think she'll be okay?" Damien asked, looking at Rose. "Do you know how bad her injuries are?"

"She broke a lot of bones, they said," Rose replied quietly. "Her left arm, her left leg, fractured some ribs and her collarbone." She shook her head. "The worst of it is her head, they said she hit it pretty hard."

Taylor went pale as he listened to Rose list Sera's injuries.

Damien swallowed. That sounded pretty bad.

"Any idea when she'll wake up?" he asked quietly, putting a hand on Taylor's shoulder.

"Not sure," Rose said. "I was told we'll have more details soon."

Damien nodded. "Come sit," he told her. "We can't rush things along. Just come sit and try to relax while we wait."

"There's no relaxing right now," Rose said even as she sat down with him. "Just not going to happen."

"But you can at least sit." Damien put his other arm around her, though he kept one hand on Taylor's shoulder.

Taylor just sat there, quiet and tense. He knew there was nothing he could do, and he hated feeling that helpless.

Rose tucked herself against Damien, trying to settle for a bit.

Damien looked over when the doctor came over to talk to them, looking tired but at least clean.

"Your friend is being moved to recovery," the doctor said, sitting across from them.

"How is she doing?" Taylor spoke up before Rose could.

"We think she'll recover," the doctor said carefully. "However, there is some swelling in her brain that I'm concerned about."

That made Taylor go pale, and faintly ashen.

"How concerned?" Rose asked when Taylor didn't speak up again.

"It's too soon today. It could just be a concussion. It could be worse. I won't know for sure until tomorrow at the earliest." The doctor shrugged.

"Alright." Rose was quiet for a moment. "When can we go see her?"

"Not until the morning. Ten AM." The doctor scrubbed his face briefly. "I'll be back by then and I'll update you."

Rose hesitated, then nodded. There was no way she was going to get any sleep that night, and from the looks of it, neither was Taylor.

"I'll see you then." The doctor stood and left.

"You can stay at my place," Damien offered Taylor. "I'm closer than you are. Although I'm sure we'll all be here at 9:55."

Taylor was quiet for a moment, and then nodded.

"Yeah," he said. "Thanks. I'll do that."

"Come on. No need for us to stay here." Damien got up, helping Rose up and keeping an eye on Taylor.

Taylor nodded and headed out to his car. He sat there for a moment, just working on keeping himself under control, and then headed towards Damien's place.

Rose let Damien lead her out to the car and she got in quietly. Her fingers gripped her purse tightly even as she strapped in.

"Don't worry," Damien said quietly. "She'll be okay. We'll make sure that she's okay." He was gripping the steering wheel harder than normal though as he drove them back to his house.

"I hope so," Rose replied quietly as they made their way back.

Damien was quiet as he drove back.

"Try not to worry so much," he said quietly. "We can see her tomorrow."

"I can't not worry about her," Rose replied. "She's the closest thing to a sister I have. I'd worry the same about my own parents."
