Damien ate in silence, enjoying his food.

"We'll see." Sera smiled teasingly and leaned back as their food arrived so she could eat.

Once she was done, Rose sat back and sipped her iced tea, just enjoying the companionship.

Taylor just grinned and started on his meal.

Nearly a week later, Sera was working at the vet's in the zoo with Taylor. One of the other interns had left, leaving only the two of them and one other intern. So far she'd adjusted very quickly.

Except now she had something much more serious on her mind. She texted Damien quickly: We need to talk. Alone.

Damien blinked when he saw the text and headed back to the vet area, looking around for Sera. "Hey, what's--"

Sera grabbed his arm and dragged him off behind the building, into a narrow alleyway. "What are you?" she demanded, blocking the entryway and glaring up at him. "Tell me the truth, Damien. What are you? Werewolf? Big cat?"

Damien blinked, startled. Then he laughed. "What are you talking about, Sera? Been reading too many fiction books again?"

"No." Sera's voice was quiet and deadly. "What are you, Damien."

While Sera was cornering Damien, Rose was still in the research department, working on a project for one of the other departments. She had no idea what was going on outside.

Damien sighed. "How much do you know?" he asked quietly.

"I know that you're not human. I did some research of my own, and I know you're some kind of shifter. I just don't know what you turn into." Sera watched him.

"I'm a shapeshifter," he admitted after a few moments. "And so what if I am? What about Taylor?"

Sera froze. "What about Taylor?" she asked carefully.

Damien paused. "You didn't have any idea about him," he said quietly. "Even though you knew about me, you didn't know about him."

"What about him? What did you mean, Damien?" Sera cornered him.

Damien winced and internally asked Taylor to forgive him. "He's an incubus."

Rose finished up her work for the day and locked the office behind her -- still completely unaware of the drama her friend was stirring up.

Sera stared at him for several long moments, almost glaring at him. "I'm telling Rose," she said finally. "Lie to us again and I'll make sure everyone knows what you are." She turned and strode away, going to go find Rose.

Damien shivered and headed inside after a few moments, going to go find Taylor.

Rose saw Sera coming towards her and waved a bit.

"What are you doing here to late in the afternoon?" she asked. "I thought you would be at home already."

There was no way Taylor could possibly miss Damien's nervous, twitchy energy coming towards his office. It surprised him a bit, since his friend was usually so calm and collected.

"No, not yet. I stopped to talk to Damien. And we need to talk. Come on; we're going home." Sera's voice was hard, a tone she almost never used with Rose, and allowed to argument or comprimise.

"Sera knows," Damien said softly once he saw Taylor. "She talked to me, and she knows."

Sera's tone worried Rose, so she slipped her office key into her pocket and pulled out her car keys.

"I'll follow you," she said.

"She what?" Taylor asked. "Not possible, she can't possibly know. How would she have found out?"

Sera nodded and walked out to her car, wishing she had her combat boots on so she could stomp properly. She pulled out her keys and started driving back to the house, obviously agitated.

"I don't know, but she knows. She guessed what I was, Taylor. She knew I wasn't human." Damien started pacing like a caged big cat.

Rose stayed a good distance behind Sera, knowing her friend had a tendency to be hard on the brake when she was upset over something. Once they managed to get home without an accident, she followed Sera inside.

"I haven't seen you do anything to give yourself away," Taylor said. Getting up, he went and laid a hand on Damien's shoulder. "Hell, you've been even more paranoid since you started dating Rose."

Sera parked and went inside, opening the door and kicking off her shoes swiftly before she started pacing.

"I know. I don't know how she figured it out!" Damien sighed, aggravated. "She knows about you, too."

"Sera?" Rose toed off her shoes by the door and set her bag down. "Sera, sweetie, talk to me. What's wrong?"

"What?" Taylor thought back to how he'd behaved around Sera. "She can't possibly..."

"Damien and Taylor lied to us," Sera said, still pacing. "I know this is going to sound crazy, but Damien confirmed it for me. Remember all those crazy things you told me about? Damien's eyes glowing, his actions at the full moon, all those little things? I know why."

Sera stopped and looked at Rose, her face completely, deadly serious. "He's a shapeshifter."

"She knows," Damien said glumly. "I sort of accidentally confirmed it, but she knows."

"Sera?" Rose asked. "Sera, what are you talking about?" She grabbed her friend's hand, stopping her pacing. "Sera, talk to me. You're not making any sense."

"How do you sort of confirm something like that?" Taylor asked. He sighed. "How much damage control will we have to do?"

"I know it sounds crazy," Sera said, holding still now and holding onto Rose's hand. "I talked to Damien, and he agreed."

She took a deep breath. "Okay, you remember all those little things you told me about? The glowing eyes, the weird behavior during the full moon, all those things you told me about Damien that weren't quite right? Well, I talked to him about it, because I did some research. Damien's a shapeshifter. I know it sounds crazy, I know I sound crazy."

"A lot." Damien sighed. "Sera was pissed. Like, murder someone then melt them down to hide the evidence type pissed."

Rose wasn't sure what to believe. She was a researcher, she was trained to look for more information before she decided on anything. However, she'd already indirectly done the research.

"This is related to all those books and articles you made me pull for you, isn't it?" she asked. She'd pulled the materials from the most credible sources she could find.

Taylor sighed and took out his phone.

We need to talk, he sent to Sera.

"Yes, it is," Sera said. "You looked at all those sources yourself. You know that it was never proven that they don't exist."

She paused and pulled out her phone, glancing at the message. She was tempted to start ranting, but instead she just texted back two words: You lied.

Damien waited to see how Taylor's text went over with Sera before he tried to contact Rose.

Rose saw the sudden rage on Sera's face, but her mind was racing too fast for her to really act as Sera's voice of reason.

Taylor knew Damien was reading over his shoulder when the reply came back.

We still need to talk. Let me explain.

Explain what? That you're an incubus? Yeah, I already know all about that. Sera practically growled as she sent the text.

Damien winced when he read that reply. "I don't think she's gonna talk to you," he said sympathetically.

"No kidding," Taylor replied. He didn't send another text. Sera sounded almost mad enough to actually kill him. "Have you tried talking to Rose?"

"Not yet. I was going to see how mad Sera was before I sent Rose a text." Damien pulled out his phone and texted, Do you think we can talk about this?

Rose heard the text come in, and looked at it. She knew Sera would be reading over her shoulder. She hesitated in send a reply.

Sera glanced the text before going back to her pacing, mentally calling Taylor every foul thing she could think of. She didn't comment.
