"Surprise me," Rose replied. She wasn't all that picky at the moment. She was more glad to be with him again.

Taylor went in to check on her, and saw her tossing and turning. He went over and shook her shoulder gently.

"Sera," he said softly.

Damien smiled and led the way to his car. "I hope you like meat."

Sera's eyes snapped open and for a moment she was frozen, looking half-terrified. She calmed down when she saw him.

"Sounds good to me," Rose replied as she walked with him. She knew which car was his.

"Easy," Taylor said softly. "It's just me. Is everything alright?"

"Good." Damien grinned and started driving, going to a barbecue place. "I've been going here for years. Best meat around."

"Yeah," Sera said after a minute. "Just... yeah."

"I'll take your word for it," Rose replied. She didn't go out for barbecue that often, so she wasn't familiar with the place.

"That bad, hm?" Taylor said, teasing her just the slightest bit to make her feel a bit better. "If you want, I'm sure I could get you the rest of the day off, if you wanted to head home."

Damien held the door open for her. The place was quiet for the moment, country music in the background. He let her pick which side of the booth she wanted.

"No," Sera said quickly. "I'd rather... Thinking about it just makes it worse." She couldn't look at him, instead picking at the threads in her blanket.

Rose slid into the booth. She already liked the place, almost solely because they played country music.

"Talking might make it better," Taylor offered, sitting next to her.

Damien grinned. "Go ahead and get comfy," he said. "You get free rolls with every meal. They're these delicious buttermilk rolls."

Sera sighed. "I've been having a lot of nightmares recently," she admitted with some hesitation. "They're never the same, but... Sometimes I'll wake up, but I'm too tired to stay awake even though I know I should, and I fall asleep again and it gets worse."

"Sounds wonderful," Rose replied as she looked at the menu.

Taylor frowned.

"That's not normal," he said. He thought for a moment. "You haven't come into contact with anyone new lately, have you?"

Damien smiled as the waitress came over, ordering iced tea to drink.

"No, not that I know of," Sera said. "I can't really recall. I mean, I don't know everyone around the zoo yet."

Rose ordered the same thing, absently tapping her foot to the music in the background.

"Have you had the nightmares the whole time you've worked here?" Taylor asked. "I'm trying to figure out why it's happening. It sounds like it's being intentionally done."

Damien perused the menu for a few minutes before deciding on steak and shrimp shiskabobs. "Anything look good?"

"No, not the entire time. Just for the past four days or so." Sera sighed and leaned her head back against the wall. "What could do something like this?"

Rose looked at the menu for a moment longer before settling on the spicy grilled shrimp.

"We'll have to come back sometime," she commented.

"A few things," Taylor replied. "Getting into dreams isn't particularly difficult. Manipulating them into nightmares, though, that's a bit trickier."

Damien nodded. "With pleasure," he agreed. "Anytime you want."

"I guess you'd know," Sera said without any heat.

"I don't do nightmares," Taylor replied. He thought for a moment. "Damien's lived in the area longer than I have, I'm going to ask him what he thinks." He hesitated. "If you want, so you could get a decent sleep..."

It took Sera a moment to realize what he was asking. "No."

"I'm just offering," Taylor replied. "I might be able to keep the nightmares from getting bad until I can figure out what's causing them."

Sera gave him a very droll look. "Even if you are just offering, the answer is no. I'd rather not have you in my head."

"If you're sure," Taylor replied, backing off. "If you change your mind, the offer stands."

Sera nodded. "Okay," she agreed. She got up after a few minutes, yawning briefly. "I'm gonna get some food."

"Alright," Taylor replied. He was going to offer to go with her, but he got the feeling that it would only annoy her. "We can go off-grounds for lunch, if you like. Real food for a change." Okay, so he offered anyways.

Sera hesitated, on the verge of saying no, when she gave in. "Okay. Let's go."

Offering her a hand, Taylor helped her to her feet.

"Anything in particular you want?" he asked.

"Just as long as it's edible," Sera said, taking his hand and getting up.

Damien looked at Rose as their food arrived. "You okay? You seem a bit preoccupied."

"Hm?" Rose asked, brought out of her thoughts. "Sorry... I'm just worried about Sera. She's been having nightmares the past couple nights, really bad ones. She hasn't been getting sleep."

Taylor nodded and walked with Sera out to his car. He would take her back to that little diner that she liked before.
