Damien nodded and followed her inside, watching with amusement as one little paw emerged from the box to swipe at the air.

Once she was in the living room, Rose sat down on the floor with the carrier facing her and opened the door on it. She knew better than to reach in, though. Little claws would tear up her hands just as well as bigger claws.

Damien watched as eht kitten emerged slowly, looking around cautiously and sniffing everything.

Rose watched, too, but didn't move. She didn't want to scare the kitten, so she sat still.

The kitten looked around before taking a few more steps out, looking around and sniffing the carpet.

"She's so adorable," Rose said softly. She glanced over at Damien. "Thank you."

"My pleasure," Damien said with a smile. "You want to leave her out or leave her in your room to get her used to being here?"

"Probably best to move her to my room," Rose said after thinking for a moment. "That way, she can't wander into the other room and find all of Sera's pets."

"And she has a smaller, more contained area to get used to," Damien said. "So she'll feel safer in there, not to mention she won't have to get used to the whole house just yet."

"Right," Rose agreed. Gently, she picked up the kitten and went upstairs. Going into her room, she pushed Lana off of the bed and nudged her out the door before setting the kitten down and closing the door again, leaving her alone in the room. "There. Room to herself, and my spoiled rotten cat can't bother her." She knew her other cat wasn't pleased about being kicked out of the room, but she would get over herself.

Damien snorted. "Oh trust me. Within a week or two, that kitten will be terrorizing your other cat."

"Till she gets herself smacked," Rose replied. She paused. "Well, maybe."

"Yeah, that won't stop her," Damien said with a chuckle. "She'll just keep going until she mellows out in a year or so."

"We'll see," Rose said. She grinned. "If she bites my nose to wake me up in the morning, all bets are off."

Damien shook his head after a moment. "She's most likely to go for toes." He grinned. "Unless, of course, you happen to have a giant cat sleeping at the foot of your bed."

"Are you offering?" Rose teased. She was getting more comfortable joking around with him.

"Would you like me to be?" Damien grinned at her. He wasn't entirely joking.

Rose blushed when she realized he was partially serious.

"Maybe one day," she replied carefully.

Damien smiled. "Well, maybe is better than no," he said quietly, leaning forward and kissing her cheek.

Rose blushed more when he kissed her cheek. She fought with herself for a moment, but couldn't work up the courage to actually kiss him.

Damien pulled back a little so she wouldn't have to kiss him. "So, do you want to head back to my house now or a little later?"

"We can leave whenever you like," Rose replied, still a little pink.

Damien chuckled and nodded. "Well, I think I might pick up a few things at the store for dinner, so unless you want to come with me I can always pick you up after I'm done there."

"Whatever is more convenient for you," Rose replied. She wouldn't mind tagging along, but she didn't want to inconvenience him.

"Really, sweets," Damien said, obviously amused. "You're more than welcome to come with, if you'd like. Or you can stay here and I'll pick you up after I'm done. Either way, it's up to you."
