"Hey, don't worry," Damien said quietly. "I'll make sure you're safe. I promise." He rubbed her shoulder a little.

Rose unconsciously leaned against him.

"You're too nice to me," she said softly.

"Everyone deserves kindness," Damien said after a moment. "I am nowhere near too kind to you."

Rose blushed brightly.

"I still think you're too kind to me," she said.

Damien chuckled quietly and shook his head. "You can think that all you want," he said quietly. "We'll just have a differing opinion on the subject."

"We'll have to agree to disagree," Rose said, nodding a bit. She almost moved away from him, but decided against it. She was comfortable, and she felt safe.

Damien chuckled quietly and stayed where he was, resting back against the couch and keeping one arm around her. He liked having her there, and he was certainly not going to let her get hurt.

Rose slowly drifted back off to sleep against him. She still felt a bit bad about sleping on him and keeping him from being comfortable, but she couldn't help it. It was the middle of the night, and she didn't want to think about something feeding on her nightmares.

Damien stayed there, keeping one arm around her and keeping her safe all night.

In the morning, he shook her a little, gently. "Rose, time to wake up," he said quietly, a hint of a smile on his lips. "Come on, sweets."

Rose didn't want to wake up at first, and then her brain caught up with her and she finished waking up quickly. She blushed a bit.

"I didn't mean to keep you on the couch all night," she apologized.

Damien smiled a little. "Not the first time I've spent the night here," he said. "That's the whole point in getting a nice, comfortable couch. I can crash here whenever I want. Or I can let someone else crash here. Like that one time Taylor was too drunk to drive home."

"I'm not sure if that surprises me or not," Rose replied. Carefully, she sat up properly and stretched a bit.

"This was a couple years back," Damien said with a shrug. "We had a long weekend off and played drinking games with some other friends. Taylor crashed on the couch." He grinned, rather evilly. "He had this horrible hangover. It was really funny."

Rose rolled her eyes.

"I don't drink," she said. "I usually volunteer to drive, to give me an excuse not to drink."

Damien merely chuckled. "I don't drink much," he said with a shrug. "It takes a lot to get me drunk. My metabolism works a lot faster than most humans, which is why you'll see a lot of Shifters or Weres snacking all the time."

"I don't really pay that much attention," Rose admitted. She was usually too distracted with what she was researching, or the latest book she got her hands on.

Damien chuckled quietly. "Well, now you know." He stretched a bit before moving into the kitchen.

"You want some breakfast? I have cereal, or I can make pancakes or waffles or something."

"If it's not too much trouble..." Rose said. She knew she needed to get home soon, if for nothing else than to take care of her pets.

"You have a preference?" Damien called from the kitchen, already starting to get things out. If he was going to cook breakfast, they were going to have a proper meal.

"Not in particular," Rose replied. "I usually sleep through breakfast, when I get the chance."

Damien snorted but got out eggs, bacon, and pancake mix, starting to work on breakfast. "If you want to go back to your house and get different clothes and whatnot, I can take you back over."

Rose blinked. It sounded as if he was going to bring her back to his place regardless.

"I do have pets I need to take care of," she hedged.

"Well, you can eat first and then go back home, or you can go home and come back and eat breakfast," Damien said, glancing at her. "Your choice, sweets."

"Well," Rose said, "it's probably best to have breakfast now, so you don't have to waste the gas taking me home, and then bringing me back and having to take me home again after."

"Okay," Damien said, heating up a pan. "Bathroom is two doors down, if you need to use it." He pointed in the appropriate direction, already cracking a few eggs.
