"Thanks," Rose replied, going down the hall and into the bathroom. Once she finished up and washed her face, she went back out to the kitchen.

By that time, Damien had a plate of eggs off to the side, bacon cooking in the pan, and another pan with pancakes on it. He flipped the pancakes and waited until they were done before setting that batch off to the side as well.

Rose was sufficiently impressed.

"Smells wonderful," she commented.

"Good, because you're going to be eating half." Damien looked too pleased with himself as he finished up the bacon and the pancakes, putting everything on the counter so they could serve themselves. He handed her a plate and motioned for her to go first.

"All this?" Rose asked. She shook her head. "I couldn't possibly eat half of it, it's way too much."

"Well, as much as you can, then." Damien shrugged, not at all put out, and sat down to eat his portion.

Rose took as much as she thought she would eat and sat down with him.

"It's wonderful," she said as she started eating.

Damien smiled, pleased. "Thanks. I'm glad you like it." He took a drink of his orange juice and ate some more.

Rose grinned.

"It's way better than my pathetic attempts at cooking," she said. "I can't cook all that well at all."

"My mom cooked, and she taught me," Damien said with a shrug. "Dad cooked too. It kinda runs in the family, I guess."

"My grandmother is a wonderful cook," Rose replied. "My dad kind of learned from her... But I can't cook. I've messed up the simplest things before, it was pretty bad."

"I could try teaching you, if you wanted," Damien offered. "I've been told I'm a pretty good teacher. And I'll make sure you don't mess things up."

"Somebody said that about teaching me to sew, once," Rose replied. "I still can't sew." Not that she wasn't willing to learn how to cook. Hopefully, she wouldn't burn herself on a non-stick pan again.

Damien chuckled. "Well, at least then we can say I've tried to teach you," he said teasingly. "Next time you come over I'll show you a few things. We'll start with something simple, I promise."

"If you say so," Rose said. She was kind of looking forward to it, though.

Damien chuckled quietly and nodded, glancing over at her. "Whenever you're done, I can take you back to your house."

"Alright," Rose said. "Thanks." She worked steadily through her breakfast. It really was better than anything she could make.

Damien nodded and ate his own breakfast before putting the leftovers away in the fridge, quite cheerfully. He had the day off, so he didn't have to worry about going and feeding anyone else. Besides his cat.

Rose finished her breakfast and helped him put the leftovers away.

"I'm ready to go when you are," she said.

Damien nodded and grabbed a pair of flip flops, going over to the door and unlocking the car. He shut and locked the door after she was outside.

Rose followed him outside, getting into the car once he unlocked it.

Damien drove her home, taking his time and getting out once he'd parked. "Looks like Sera's here, so I'm sure no one starved to death."

"You've seen just how spoiled my cat is," Rose pointed out as she got out of the car. "She's not going to forgive me for a while. I might just have to bribe her with new toys or treats."

Damien snorted. "You might," he agreed easily, waiting for her at the door.

Sera lounged on the couch, since she'd had strange dreams and had been unable to sleep properly.

Rose followed him up to the door.

"Were you staying, or are you going to head back home?" she asked. He was acting like he didn't want to let her out of his sight, but really, she was a grown woman. She could take care of herself, for the most part.
