I want stories of planned tattoos (and reasons why) and tattoos you already have (and why they're there).

I'll start. XD

I'm a huge anime/manga/game fan. I'm going to get Hidan's (Naruto) ring symbol on my left bicep, and IX (roman numeral 9) for Demyx (Kingdom Hearts II) on my right to show two of the characters that I am very attached to.

On my right shoulder blade, I want to get a pregnant male sea horse, with the word "Peccavi" written around it. Peccavi means 'I have sinned', and I am a guy who truly does wish I could be pregnant. Plus, I'm the hydromaniac, so the sea horse has a double meaning; it lives in water and carries the babies. :3

I've been thinking of getting one to commemorate my best relationship yet. My boyfriend and I are huge into all sorts of stuff, but our song is Anything For You by Ludo. So, I'm thinking of getting the lyrics somewhere on my body that he loves...probably on my thigh or something. Not all of the lyrics, either, just his favorite part.

And I'm a sucker for several bands, and I want to do a tangle of their names on my calf. Placebo, OK Go, Pink Spiders, and Motion City Soundtrack.

Finally, I want some kind of twisty tribal hooplah on my lower back, with a (vaguely) rainbow phoenix in the middle of it. :3 Because I've always wanted a tramp stamp, and I figure a rainbow bird of fire is pretty kick-ass and something that I can forever love, considering it's a "fly away with your sexuality" thing for me. Don't laugh, please. :3

I'm not laughing at you, I'm going to wonder why in the hell you'd want Demyx first of all. He was impossible to beat and his guitar looks like a penis :gonk:

>_>

Other than THAT, I have a tattoo of a panda on my back and hip. My girlfriend drew it, and I got it because it's her favorite animal. She has a tattoo of a penguin, which is my favorite animal. So it's to represent each other in a cuter and non-cliche way, rather than getting names or something.

It hurt a lot, but I liked the pain. I'd like to get another, maybe. Butterfly or something common like that. I'd like something to represent my parents but I don't know what I'd get.

First off, good job with picking Demyx! He's totally my favorite organization member~ <3 Anyways, as for me, I don't currently have any tattoos but I'm planning to get them. I'm studying forensic psychology in college right now, and afterwards I'm hoping to go into the FBI or something like that, and my dream is to help catch serial killers. Serial killers, when they take their victims' lives, often take something from the person as a 'trophy', such as a wedding ring or a tooth or some other random thing that would be found in their home or on their person. I want to have the same sort of concept, where for each big case I help solve, I want some small little tattoo of something that represents it. It would probably be on my back, stomach, or sides, since I'd probably have to keep tattoos hidden or covered up when in a business suit or something like that.

I want to get this : Aomi Symbol by ~AomiArmster on deviantART
on my back. Not too big ...something small, hand-sized maybe. As for why... probably because I like what it represents

I want a ridiculous number of tattoos. When everything's all said and done, I'll have a massive back piece, and at least a sleeve and a half done.

My first one will be a memorial for my grandmother who passed away. It'll be simple, just a skull surrounded by some of her favorite orchids.

After that, plans are to start on my ridiculous back pieces which will be all GWAR related and is too complicated to even try to explain here. There will be blood and gore <3

Other various tattoos will also be related to my favorite musicians. My best friend and I want to get semi-matching tattoos at some point. I also want a key on my sternum as it represents my family.

I have three and eventually want two more.
I have a heart on my front left shoulder. Tribal eye on left thigh. Dolphin on right ankle.
I want a double headed dragon along my left fore-arm and an ankh on my right thumb (but that one will have to wait until I retire from working life, as below the wrist and above the neck tattoos are really unemployable tattoos.).
Not wildly exciting reasons behind mine. Heart = Love, Eye = Protection from Evil, Dolphin = Freedom, Dragon = Strength and Ankh = Life.

If I won the lottery, and didn't have to worry about earning a living, I'd get the left side of my face done similar to the maori ta moko ones. Not ripping off one of their designs, as that seems like it would be kind of disrespectful and rude, I'd get someone to design a personal one for me. I've just always loved the look of them.

I've got... six so far.

My first was the kanji for "kodou" on the left side of my chest. For one, it means "beating," and for another, it's a Dir en Grey song about suicide (as I interpret it, anyhow). I plan on turning it into a full chest piece, with a cherry tree on the right side, and the blossoms blowing across my chest, so it'll look like the kanji's being blown away with them.

My second was Coheed & Cambria's Keywork logo, because I've been absolutely in love with their music & story since I was 16.

The third was the Latin phrase "memento mori" on my left wrist, which essentially means, "remember you die." I got that because at the time, I'd lost two friends to leukemia, and they both passed away without much warning. It's gone on to be a reminder to me to tell the people I care about how I feel right now, and to never leave things on a bad note, because I never know when or if I'll see them again.

My fourth was the Nobody symbol from Kingdom Hearts II on my back, because I've been completely enamored with the entire series since the first game came out, and I'm a super-nerd.

My fifth one was Coheed & Cambria's dragonfly logo on my right wrist, once again, because I'm obsessed with the band, in addition to the fact that I love dragonflies. I've kind of started a tradition of getting a CoCa tat every time they come out with a new album...

And the last one I got was a zombie bite on my right shoulder, and my best friend got one on her left shoulder at the same time. It's our BFF tattoo. We'd been talking about it for months, but couldn't figure out what we'd want to get, since we both have very different personal tastes. We decided to get it because we both love zombie flicks. XD

I plan on getting a materia chain & the SOLDIER logo from FFVII on my left ankle sometime, and turning my entire right calf into a tribute to Coheed's Amory Wars comic. I also want to get a portrait of Dante & the first line of the Inferno ("nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita" or "midway on our life's journey") on my right forearm, and my family's crest somewhere on me, but that's all I have planned at the moment.

I worked in a tattoo shop for quite some time so receiving piercings and tattoo's was a norm for me.

I will say this now though. I myself adore animation, video games, all that such. However what I liked 5 years ago, I do not always care for now. (Naruto, InuYasha, yeah I'm talking to you two. I have matured....) I have seen so many people come into the shop saying they wanted something from their favorite band, anime, tv show, all that such, then down the line they return and complain about how they regretted it. If you are going to get something to feature your love for something specific, be a little vague with it. My first example:

I adore Resident Evil. Not only is it my favorite game series, but I met my best from of over 12 years because of this game (thank you gaming tournaments) However I know in maybe ten years I might not love it as much. To commemorate my love for the game, and also the memories of my best friend instead of getting an exact character or words or such of Resident Evil I instead opted to grab the biohazard symbol. (pics later) Not the exact symbol either, I ended up creating my own.

My other tat is a large pair of angelic wings upon my shoulder blades. They have a series of green vines and roses and flowers trailing down and weaving. Also self designed.

My next is another pair of bluish wings in a tribal symbol style. In the center in a yingyang symbol. Behind them is a long ribbon which says "Dementis" (One who is demented, who shows little feelings or concern). Beneath is a pair of pink flowers.

My next one I'm getting done very soon by my partner is a leg tattoo. It will circle my upper thigh all around. It will be torn flesh, bruised and broken. It will look as if someone attempted to sew the skin back together but failed, so exposed tissue and muscle. Receiving that one very soon. :3

I don't want any at all, mainly because I'm a wuss who can hardly stand getting shots. >.>

But if I could stand the pain, I'd probably get a tattoo reminiscent of my favorite band, Ludo. Probably one of their lyrics or a logo or something.

I have a dolphin on my right ankle. It doesn't really stand for anything. I just got it to commemorate my friend's wedding, and because she kind of dared me to.

I would like to get something to represent my relationship with my twin. She's not just my sister, she's also my best friend. Maybe our initials (which are the same) as part of a bigger design or the lyrics to a song that make me think of her. I don't know yet.

I'm not really the type of person who thinks all tattoos should have meaning behind them. I don't see anything wrong with getting a tattoo because you just like the way it looks. Like one of my co-workers got a cross on his forearm and is always asked about his religion because of it, but he's atheist/agnostic. He just likes the way crosses look. It's a nicely done tattoo, so I see nothing wrong with it. I quite like it actually.

I want to get a reasonable few tattoos. I've thought of many.

Currently though the only two that I'm truly for sure about are:

One. A roaring Jaguar or Leopard on the palms of my hands. I find they're such a beautiful animals, and they're symbolic in a few ways.

Two. The words 'Never Forget' and I'm thinking I might add 'Those who are, and those who arent' I don't know though. We sometimes forget those who are gone and how much they're lives were/are worth and those who are here. We should never forget those who are alive and those who aren't.

I'm always thinking about tattoos I want to get. I love self expression.

Oh wow, lots of really cool ideas and tattoos here! I was actually thinking about getting the Heartless emblem from Kingdom Hearts (to the person who said they had the Nobody emblem) because I also fell in love with that game/series, and I love Heartless, and I love the symbol (I think it looks so badass >3<). It's also kind of symbolic, so it's not like it's purely out of fandom or anything. I also kind of want the Homunculus tattoo of the ouroboros (from FullMetal Alchemist) as well, so I might even make a design that incorporates them both (a black serpent wrapping itself around the Heartless emblem, with the little crown at the top and black dragon wings around the sides or something like that~

I have 5:
~~~~~~~
My little sisters' names on my neck, with interlocking heart and star
A pentacle hidden in a moon, with a bat in front on my shoulder
A star on my toe
Vampire fangs on my hip
......and an Aerosmith logo tramp-stamp. (There is a pic of this in my profile, I believe)
I'm never going to get a tattoo
but if I did I'd like a Triforce (from Legend of Zelda) somewhere on my body to show my love for the best games ever XD
or little angel wings on my shoulder blades
Not to represent anything, just cuz they'd look cool
I really wish I could have a tatoo on my right arm (the top & the fattest part) of a japenese mythiology (dragons or something) or something floral (not too much) but something that is kind of floral + swirls, because I've been longing for it long, but I'd never be able to do it ;_;
It's been a while since i posted in a tattoo thread on here - so why not.
I have 2 right now.
The first one I got when I turned 18 and is a little blue and purple butterfly on my hip - I don't regret it - but I do admit that it's silly.
The 2nd one is larger and on my lower back - some call it a tramp stamp but I don't think it qualifies- it was simply the best canvas.
It is a 2 page illustration from Where the Wild Things Are - I have loved that book for almost 25 years so I figured it would be a safe bet to get the wild rumpus across my back - see it here - I think I would like to go back and eventually put the jungle in around them - but right now I can't due to lack of funds and the fact that I'm pregnant. :lol:
I would like to eventually get one like this on my thigh - I'm a big reader, I'm a librarian, and I like the idea that the only way you would see it is if my skirt or shorts slide up :XD
I thought about getting the Heartless insignia, but the Nobody one just fit me a lot better. I've always been kind of a "nobody" in a way. I'm one of those weird kids that people tend to ignore until they need help on their homework. Haha.
My first tattoo is a not-equal-to symbol: Here but stylized a bit more. The equal part is traced and open and the line going through it has little swirls.
That's on my middle upper back a little under my neck. And it's just black ink and about an inch maybe an inch and a half in length and not much taller.
My second tattoo is the kanji for sugar: 砂糖
The second style.
It's also in black but stenciled instead of colored in. That one is on my right rib cage under my breast and hurt like hell. I've recently thought about adding "is the American addiction." in Japanese to it, but on my back left rib cage. It's a recent thought though; so I'm letting it simmer for a while before I commit.
I want to get more symbols to go with my not-equal-to sign but haven't gotten around to it.
I've thought about getting a sakura tree on my shoulder, but have changed my mind on it.
I know I've got more ideas in my head, but they're floating around lost somewhere.
My first tattoo is of a wooden cross going through my leg. It's on the side of my right calf muscle. I got it because I wanted to express my religion on my body.
My second and third tattoos I got on the same day and they are of Star Wars. I got the Rebel insignia on my left calf and the Empire insignia on my right calf. Obviously I got them because I really like Star Wars.
The main tattoo I want to get is a collage of my favorite video game characters. I have a partial picture of it because a friend drew it for me, but the style Link was in, I didn't care for. It was the more cartoony version. So I'm still waiting on that one to get finished. But it would be pretty expensive to get anyway; so it would be getting done slowly regardless.
I have a butterfly that I drew. I wanted it since I was 16 and redrew it when I was 20 and got it done. I still love it and it still looks great even 6 years later. I wanted to get a tattoo on either side of my hip of something music related but an exfriend of mine wanted to get something similar and we had a bad falling out so I'm not too sure if I want that done for the simple fact I do not want to be reminded of her. I'm getting a finger band done on my finger when I draw it out to symbolize my exhusband and I being best friends even if we're not married any more. He has his done that I drew, I just need to get my matching one done. The last tattoo that I want is a heart made out of music notes or something similar. I need to redraw the design to that one as well.
The butterfly represents freedom to me. It also is kind of a guardian angel type thing for me too, to put it short. It means a lot of different things to me which is part of the reason I still love it. The other part is all the details on the wings. The artist who did it is amazing too. The music heart thingy that I want on my wrist is important to me because I'm really into music and it's very much a part of my every day life so it's because of that. It's also symbolic of my lyrics. The hip tattoos are also symbolic of my writing as well, which is something that I do not know what I would do without. The ring tattoo is because my exhuband and I have been very close friends for the past 12 years and even if we're not married, we still are the best of friends.
I've always wanted to design a partial sleeve and get that done but my arms are way too skinny and I think it would just look odd on me.
I'm not too keen on having a needle penetrate my skin over and over again but I have thought about having a tattoo. Of course, I picked the most painful place for one, the wrist. I would like a type of bird on my wrist flying/trickling down my wrist, but I want it to mean something. To me, I feel like tattoos, in order to look right, should be given thought about placement and the meaning. So, I wouldn't want one necessarily just get one to get one, I want to tell someone why I got it and what it symbolizes.
I personally believe I won't get one because I don't withstand pain easily.
This is an image of stuff done by Anne Stokes. The one Im thinking of getting is either the bottom right(above the red "seal"), the one in the top left, of the "seal" itself.
Edit: As for location...Im not sure where I would put it, other than the top left one, it would go on my shoulder.
