I'm verrrrrry close to finishing it. I just need to spend an hour or two grinding so that I can beat the final boss. ;; That'll teach me to try to get through the dungeons as fast as I can.
What's your favourite thing about the game? Your least favourite?

Persona 4 is awesome. I really like the way you can form social links with all the characters on the team, even the male ones. The whole shadow-self idea was really cool, too. It made the characters a lot more realistic, I think.

@ Rainy day: my favorite part about the game is the part where you can have direct control over the group members, the story line, and the part the the shadow reveals the dark secrets of everyone, and also the social link system...least favorite would be teddies foot steps?? hahaha it kinda ruins the background music..hahaha
@Lexus: Cool! I agree with with you about p4 being better than p3...it is just that p3 gives me a hard time with the marin karin, the dark hour grinding, and fuuka's voice!!:yumeh1:

@Eiffel Sedonna: Lol at fuuka's voice...yeah it is pretty annoying especially when she's stating the obvious! hahahaha!!! Hey, how many hours did it take you to finish P3? hahaha I'm sorry I keep asking about p3 when we are supposed to be talking about p4! hahahaha

"I have yet to play it let alone own it. But from what I've seen, it looks different from the Persona 1 and 3 games. I have Persona 3 and it isn't that bad. The only thing I hate is how you have to GRIND during the night when most nights you have to get social links."
"The Marin Karin isn't that hard to skip and even getting it isn't that bad. It's mostly a useless skill in my opinion. There are other skills at are just as useless but I can't remember them right now. I haven't played Persona 3 in a while."

I agree with Terisa about the Marin Karin! It's one of those abnormal status skills that just never really seems to come in handy and almost never works when you really need it to.
If you want to talk about bad voices in the Persona games, I found Rise's just grating...the first time I played through P4 I avoided interacting with her at every possible opportunity. Also, even though I really liked Chie, her voice sounds like a 30-year-old woman's, not a high schooler's!

@Lexus: My first playthrough I finished it in about...uh 60 hours? that's because I chose the alternate ending...the part where I kill Ryoji and let everyone else die...well, that's because I like that ending more...hehehe...
@Terisa: I agree with you too, marin karin is quite useless...
@Narcissus: Rise's voice is sometimes annoying but I can deal with it though...Chie's voice...uh...I think it was ok...though it really does sound like a 30 year old woman's voice...:yumeh1:

Yeah, as far as the actual acting quality, I think I agree with you. The woman who did it was a good actress. The problem was just the 30-year-old woman's voice in the 17-year-old girl's mouth.

"The special status skills like Marin Karin and the ones that give fear or distress are useless to me. If you know their weakness then why have skills that have a high likely hood of not working on the shadows? Not only that but Megido skills work much better than Hama or Mudo skills. But I do like them none the less, when they do work when you want too."
"But going back to the special status skills, I have noticed more that if the shadow are using the skills, they have a MUCH higher rate of doing the status to you than if you have the boost of the status on your persona. Not funny when you get higher in levels along with higher leveled shadows to beat."

I actually found P3 and P4 to be equal storywise. I have beaten both and I adore them.

I agree, UNLESS you have a lot of Mudo/Hama boost buffs on your persona, and spells like Mamudoon, etc. as well as bonuses to your max SP (those spells take a lot of magic...) and buffs against light/dark magic if your persona has a weakness to it. You pretty much have to tailor make personas specifically for either Mudo or Hama spellcasting which can get kind of annoying.
Speaking of Mudo and Hama, I was a little disappointed that those were Naoto's skills. I mean, that's character's pretty good in battle, don't get me wrong, but
a) those types of spells never work against the final boss, and
b) it was just kind of a letdown. You spend all that time wondering what Naoto's going to contribute to your team, and it's not much better than personas you were getting ten levels back.
I love Naoto, though. I tried to date her in the game, but it's tough!

"As you go further into making good personas with the right mix or boost or Hama or Mudo, it becomes nice to see them work. Other times it's a let down to see they fail on you and waste a lot of SP to use them. Megido skills are like the GOD of all skills and as much as I love them, they eat more SP than any other skills I've seen in the games."
"I spent hours (Epic fail for all those hours until the end) On trying to get Growth and a boost on a persona. For some weird reason, I get one or the other for the persona and I really wanted it to have both so I can breeze through it's levels to get the Null Fire faster."
(Persona 3 Portable playing now so this is where my information is coming from.)

I have played, beaten and playing Persona 4 over again. I love the game. It's one of the best Persona games since P3. I am really hoping we will be seeing a Persona 5 here soon for either all the systems or on portables.
I preferred the TV World dungeons compared to all the floors of Tartarus. That and the persona's were a lot easier to work with in P4. And the social links were a lot cooler.

I didn't even know there was a P4! I'm playing P3 on my PsP and I'm about halfway done, and I really enjoy it. For a PsP game anyways. So if I find this P4 game I will most definitely have to buy it!

Yes, you should really buy that game, if you liked p3, then I'm most certain that you would also like p4...at least that's what I thought :)

I like being able to control all the characters. That was always annoying in P3- characters doing the same actions that didn't work and hurting themselves so you needed to waste a turn healing them and so forth.
But I liked being able to mix and match skills on the personas in 3. I had early level personas with mega skills because I'd mix and remix til I got ones I liked.
I also liked the big door you got on replay in 3 better. It was handy to level up faster with it.

LOL we've been talking about this in Velvet Room but that place is supposed to be a hangout thread and not a game discussion thread.
ANYWAY I love, love, love this game to death! I played it starting December 25 last year when I got home from Disneyland and my mom told me that I got a present from my best friend ( Yosuke Hanamura: on here, go figure) and BOOM, I got the game!
It f-ing rocks, and I'm in the process of going through my second playthrough.

I really like Persona 4, I like being in control of all the characters. The story's good too - and it has voice acting that doesn't make me want to remove my ears. Oh and it's cheeky swipe at Twilight/ Vampire romance fiction in general made me smile.
My friend borrowed it a year ago though and hasn't given it back - I'll have to remind her. I like Persona 3 too, although I haven't finished it yet. I'm quite fond of ATLUS games in general, I've recently started replaying the Digital Devil Saga games.

It might be a swipe at Vampire fiction in general, but there it is. I can tell the localization team had some fun with this game. :D

Oh...yeah I can't remember if I actually encountered that in the game but I'm pretty sure my best friend probably sent it to me.
