This is the sort of thing that makes me hate frat boys.
I am sorry if that offends any frat boys that don't happen to be jerks, and rapists. Now, I don't think that ABC goes into what they said, but the boys of this YALE fraternity marched on the school grounds chanting "No means yes, and yes means anal."
Ugh, seriously? One of the most prestigious schools that I know of, and they have frat boys chanting crap like this? This is why I would never go to a frat party, why I would never want to live on the school grounds in a dorm room, or any other number of things that these filthy minded boys might touch.
So, discuss what you think of fraternities and sororities, how you feel about that news story, and other generally disreputable things that may happen on a college campus.

The school needs to remind them that they are adults and need to start acting like it, although they should be aware of the fact that a college is a place for adults to go and learn to begin with. Not only is that disrespectful but it does create an environment where those women feel insecure and may feel threatened. Any type of behavior like that makes the school look really bad too. I hate college campuses for the fact that some people do not get out of that "high school" phase for the time they're at college and they do forget that they are expected to act like adults and not children.

I would like to make it clear that this is an example of why I venomously dislike frat boys, but not the only reason. I have yet to meet a frat boy that I liked, but I do acknowledge that not all frat boys would be like this.
Now, that being said, I agree. A lot of people, especially those with rich family members, tend not to grow up until they are thrown into a harsh and unforgiving world where even their parents cannot protect them. They don't understand what things like that do to the female population on that campus. I would not be surprised if many of them transferred schools, or at least moved into apartments off of the school grounds.

I'm not a fan of fraternities or sororities either. I have my own reasons, and this article has shown one of them.
I'm sure not all fraternities or sororities are THAT bad, but what I don't like is the fact that they're their own "exclusive" club. I've attended some Greek events myself and I've ALWAYS felt unwelcomed. It was really uncomfortable when everyone but you is in a clique.
Some of my good friends pledged to be a part of the Greek life and guess what? They'd rather be with their 'brothers' or 'sisters', who've they only known for a month instead of hanging out with me or any of my other friends who've they known for YEARS. If your friends aren't Greek, then why should you hang out with them? I know that statement seems harsh, but every single one of my friends who pledged into a fraternity/sorority didn't want to hang out with anyone who wasn't Greek anymore, let alone who wasn't part of their frat or sorority. This happened to at least 9 different people I've known ALL whom go to different Universities and whom pledged at different frats/sororities.
My boyfriend attempted to pledge into a Fraternity his freshman year. He ended up quitting half-way through because they made him do ridiculously tasks and would force the pledges to do dangerous drugs. He lost a lot of sleep and just didn't see the fun in it anymore. I don't understand why 'hazing' is a form of passage for these establishments. Seriously, I just wished he went to the authorities to get that idiotic frat into trouble.
And then there's the sex. I'm sure not all frat boys are hormonal or not all sorority sisters are skanks, but I've met so many of them all 4 years of college that I'm starting to think it may be something of a norm.
Overall, I don't really like most frats/sororities. Yea I do sound bitter in this post, but that's how I really feel. I have yet to come across a frat boy/sorority sister that I actually LIKED and respected. Unfortunately this news article continues to reinforce my belief towards Greeks.

As far as I am aware, fraternities and sororities are not suppose to be hazing their pledges any longer. That being said I know that they do. I heard a couple of frat boys talking when my husband and I were waiting for the midnight release of Fall Out New Vegas. One was a pledge, judging by how often the word was used when referring to him. The other said "If you weren't hazed that bad, then you shouldn't haze that bad." Then he hastily added, "But we don't haze anyway." Oh yeah, you totally just told on yourself with that one.
These were some spoiled brats to, and they called working a publix and having to push carts around in the heat "being in hell". My husbands a Marine. If they want hell they can go stand on an airstrip in the middle of summer in Okinawa when the humidity index is 120% but it's NOT RAINING, and then see how bad pushing carts in a Georgia summer is. Ugh.
Oh a side, and completely unrelated, note: My husband and I did not know that it was possible to have more then 100% humidity and it not be raining.

Yet another reason I won't bother with going to a university. The high school antics never cease.

I do not suggest avoiding continuing your schooling, just make certain that you choose the right university or technical college for you.

I would really not be surprised if they were. Unfortunately, I am not the type of person that thinks youth and inebriation should excuse what they did. We have all done stupid things in our time, but this is a whole new level of idiocy and offensiveness. Though, my husband has said he's heard frat boys say those exact words time and time again for the past few years.
