Little Devil

Something
about the way you said it
The way you worded it
makes it so cryptic
yet simple.

I see the devilish smile
play across your lips
as I attempt to decipher
what you're truly getting at.

I smirk back,
attempting not to give
the satisfaction of my confusion
to you, who doesn't deserve it.

I want to know
what exactly you meant
when you said about the way
I look when I've got a drink in my hand.

I know it's something so simple,
but I suppose my mind
is dulled from the current time
of one thirty-eight in the morning.

"You know, you're not
half bad at looking like
a little devil
with that drink in your hand."

I heard you repeat
the phrase you said.
The same grin came to me,
"You're not half bad yourself."

Well, what's more than the
pounding of my feet on the pavement?
I'm screaming inside,
only you will do.

No one else,
no one else can bring me down
to the earth's surface.
You're the one who grounds me.

I'm half dead without you-
if only you'd see that
I still want you.
I still need you.

Your touch,
Your breath,
Your voice,
I want you all to myself.

Selfish desires take over,
All I want is you,
All I need is you,
The rest of the world can disappear.

Nothing else will suffice.
Nothing else could ever do.
Everything else will melt away
because I only need you.
