Lookin' for two male characters, lots of action and adventure, and no romance. Can you dig it?
Currently [Looking]!
⇨ Introduction
Hey there. How's it goin'?
Well, I'm female, 21 years old, and a little crazy.
If you want to know anything else, just ask!
⇨ What I Want
So, basically, I just want to play with male characters.
That doesn't mean yaoi... Just because two male characters are together doesn't mean they have to be gay.
I am genuinely craving just a simple onexone action/adventure rp with two non-gay males.
Why, you ask? Well, because:
I have done lots of yaoi, yuri, and het rps in the past and am in quite a few now and am just over romance...
Yes, it's that simple. I just need a change-up is all. Just some good old fashioned action and adventure minus the romance.
That, and I'm just really sick of female characters. Srsly. :I (I totally suck at playing them too.)
⇨ Genres I Like
• Action – A must have for me. Fight scenes, destruction, blood and gore, trying to survive... what a rush.
• Adventure – I see adventure as the 'journey'. Let's make our characters' journey together a memorable one.
• Comedy – I consider it a need in any good story or rp. It'll come naturally. Or at least for me it does.
• Drama – All characters have some sort of drama in their lives... but too much'll definitely make me want to blow my brains out.
• Friendship – The general idea here is that the characters will grow closer over time... hopefully.
• Horror – Love this so much. In fact, it's almost a need for me. What can I say? Creepy, dark, gory ugliness turns me on.
• Mystery – Eh. I just like the mysterious element it brings and think it'd be fun to incorporate some sort of mystery to figure out in a story.
⇨ Settings and Themes I Like
• Apocalypse / End of the World (CRAVING)
• General Survival (CRAVING)
• Zombies (CRAVING)
• Horror (CRAVING)
• Ghosts and Spirits
• War
• Disaster and Destruction (CRAVING)
• Futuristic / Sci-Fi
• Conspiracy Theories
• Secret Organizations
• Video Game Themed
• Gladiators
• Medieval Fantasy (as long as it's not UBER fantasy)
• Alternate Universe
⇨ Character Attributes I Like
• Young Kids; 7 to 13 or so. They're young and wild and innocent and very fun to play as.
• Young adults; 18 to 29 or so. They're young and dumb but not retarded like (most) teenagers.
• Younger-Middle Age characters; 35 to 45 or so. They're experienced in life and can be downright kick-ass.
• Rugged and realistic characters that aren't anime pretty and sparkly. Can't do the sparkly.
• Unique or big personalities. Not just plain and boring gary-stus, but characters that have emotion and depth.
⇨ General Things I Like
• Real life settings versus animated or "anime" ones.
• Personality clashes and general animosity between characters. Enemies, rivalry, tension, etc...
• Friendship-building over time. Especially when two characters don't like each other at first.
• Homosexual or 'gay' innuendos at times, though not actually having the characters be homosexual.
• Past relations are okay; like they already know and have a history with each other. But just meeting is fine too.
• Age gaps can be fun, no matter how big or small, especially since no romance is involved.
• The characters can be related, like brothers or family or something. I'm actually pretty indifferent to it.
• Adrenaline-pumping action and fight scenes. Blood and gore is always a plus as well. ;3
• Descriptive, detailed posts. Not just what our characters are doing, but what they think and how they feel too.
⇨ General Things I Can Do Without
• Romance, obviously.
• Anime-style "pretty" characters. I like the rugged, realistic feel real life brings.
• Twilight, Harry Potter, Hetalia, and most mainstream stuff.
• Uber complicated plots. I'm more for action/adventure and character development. Though some decent plot is needed, yes.
• Emo or scene kids. I just can't. I don't have it in me to play as or with them.
• Teenagers (usually 13-17) to an extent. Mainly because pretty much every teenage character people make is or becomes an angsty, overly-tragic drama-hog. But I do have hope yet.
⇨ Important Info
• I only role-play on this site, in private threads. No email, pms, IM, and such.
• I'm cool with both describing our characters' appearance and using real-life pictures.
• I'm cool with describing our characters through both profile-form and just through the rp.
• We'll be playing two guys, yes. But we'll probably have to play some extra characters, including females, off and on too.
• I don't have any limits aside from Mene rules. Cursing, gore, etc... So if you have any boundaries, be sure to speak up.
• I consider myself literate. My posting range is from one good paragraph to probably around five, but I like to mirror others.
• Please be patient with me. I happen to AFK a lot, being the multitasker that I am. I promise I'm not ignoring you! >w<
• To contact me and/or discuss the rp, just post here or pm me and we can discuss the rp further.
• I take suggestions, so don't be afraid to offer me something I didn't mention! (That's also within my 'limits'. xP)

You know, I should really get more experience/practice with actually rping a guy...If you're willing to start another one with me I think I have a character that would satisfy a lot of your 'cravings'.
Overall, I have a more realistic/original lean with my role-play tastes. Soo yeah...lol
If you have room for another rp among your millions of other ones, I'm thinking something along the lines of Assassins, slavery themed. Like something that twists the idea of gladiators with a league of assassins who capture young males to force them into their ranks...ehh, not explaining this well xD; but yeah..just let me know what you think.

@Vivienne: Oh, wow! I love how that sounds! The whole gladiator/assassin thing~
Would it be like: the gladiators/assassins capture their enemies from other nations/kingdoms
and force them to fight for/with them in either battle or just in a gladiator-style Colosseum?
And, like, they're slaves and the bottom of the 'food chain' at first, but have to grow in rank?
(Did you watch Spartacus: Blood and Sand by any chance? That's kind of the image I'm getting here. xD)
But, yeah! I'd be glad to go into more detail on this with you! I just love me some mxm without the romance! n__n

haha, yeah same. It actually kind of bothers me a lot when people automatically leap to the "gay/yaoi" conclusion just because two guys are close friends and maybe even a bit 'chummy' BUT anyway, not to get caught up in that.
No I haven't seen that film, but it certainly sounds like I'm going to have to now. lol But yeah, something along those lines, but not just gladiatorial fights either. I think that perhaps those battles could be the assassin group's cover of sorts, and how they are able to intensively train these new recruits/slaves how to not only kill but survive. So I guess it wouldn't just be enemies they capture, but anyone they can get their hands on; but the enemies would always remain slaves, probably not receiving any training pre-gladiator battle, while the "recruits" do get training despite also being forced into the life.

Hmmm, I see. So would it be sort of like a secret assassin's guild type of thing?
Like, gladiator stuff is going on, but there's also a guild of assassins that kidnap people and train them.
Then they send them in the gladiator ring to train, but also do other 'assassin' stuff.
Not gonna lie, I'm still kind of confused, but I think I get the idea of it at least. Maybe? xD
Oh, and are you wanting it to be a onexone with like, just two characters?
Or are you wanting like the one we have now where you control the main character
and I control all other characters and the environment?

lol sorry xD; I'm the worst at explaining things sometimes (it's a wonder how I'm able to write convincingly at all)! Um, seen the movie Gladiator? Sorta like that in how the battle managing/running people sent out 'snatchers' to catch people to fight in the matches. So, that would be going on with people from whatever territory/kingdom/place this group was in--their own peoples getting captured--and they would probably, like you said, catch some of their enemies too. Though, the enemies would not be trained at least as thoroughly as those from their own lands. And the gladiator matches would be the assassins guild's cover yes, which they could use to not only increase money, but kill another bird with that stone and train their newly kidnapped recruits.
I hope that makes more sense ^__^; But um, I'm good with one x one; think I'd like to be able to help with the npcs/other characters and environment(s) one this one ;]

Bah. Sorry it's taking so bloody long to reply. Trying to pop posts out in other rps I'm in. xD
Anyway, yes that explanation helps a lot! I actually haven't seen Gladiator, but I think I got a better idea of it all now. ^^
So, would it be set in a sort of alternate universe Roman era? Or something futuristic?
Oh, and what kind of characters would we play?
Like a captured slave/future assassin x captured slave/future assassin? Or elite assassin x new assassin?
In any case, I'm glad you'll be helping along with the plot, setting, and characters on this one. I'm definitely going to need help. xD
But I'm also exited about it. This rp seems really original and fun~ Never did anything like it before. ;D

Oh no sweat ;p I'm definitely preoccupied with finishing a project that's due in the morning atm anyways > u >;
Glad that one made more sense x3 But as for what era...that's a toughie! They both sound like a lot of fun. You think maybe we could try mixing both somehow? Like it be futuristic, but have that sort of Roman-esque/ancient flare and feel to it? If not, I think i'm leaning towards futuristic...
Um what kind of characters would we play? That's a good question xD.
I don't think my guy would be an elite yet...honestly, either would work for me. You have any preferences?
heehee, I'm glad to help; my mind's already reeling with ideas >u< So I'm excited too!

Lol, I'm glad you have such a good imagination! Brainstorming is the best part. xD
Hermmm... As far as characters go, honestly I think I'd do better with a newly captured slave/assassin that doesn't know what the heck's going on.
I kind of had a sort-of-kind-of idea that the setting could be this strange war-loving planet that is like the Roman era.
My guy lands on said planet, his ship having broken down, and he is pretty much immediately captured and forced into the whole gladiator/assassin predicament.
(We totally don't have to do that setting, it was just an idea.)
As for what your character could be to pair up with my character... I guess the options are boundless.
Anything could really pair up with him.
You character could be on the ship with my character when it crashes and also captured.
Or be one of the 'elite' assassins who pretty much run show.
Or just a regular assassin that's kind of taken my character under his wing, showing him the ropes.
Or a guy that was captured as an 'enemy' and is sent to be gladiator slave food, but somehow manages to come out on top anyway.
[/insert more 5 in the morning random ideas here] xD
Honestly, it wouldn't matter to me what character you'd play. Whatever you'd feel most comfortable with, really.
Oh, on a super side note aside from all this... would you mind it if I befriended you here on Mene? >w< [/is lonely]

I believe this is the fifth time I've stumbled across this request. I've yet to post, but I have finally decided to. I'm terribly sorry for the extreme delay, but I've been trying to figure out which style, theme, and character I would like to use.
I'm still unsure who I would use, but I was hoping that you might be able to help me decide. I see that you like a lot of the same genre types as I. Mystery, adventure, drama, and comedy are the four I'm most interested in. Might there be a way to combine these? I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it will float your boat. I'll share anyways...Two guys whom both happen to be rivals have their paths cross when a mysterious game-show host asks them to partake in the latest TV series. Both more than eager to become famous, the two males sign the forms without reading the fine print. Shipped off to a remote location to be filmed for pure entertainment, the two soon realize that what they signed up for was more than they bargained for. The only way to survive was to rely on one another, but that deep grudge between the two makes for an interesting plot twist. Just when they are about to befriend one another, natural inhabitants of the island come and sweep one of them away. Holding him hostage, the other guy has to watch his own skin while trying to save the other. But rumor has it that the indigenous tribe isn't the real threat, no, it's the monster that shakes the island that should cause the most fear.... It's kind of like a cross between Indiana Jones, King Kong, Survivor, and LOST. If we do something along this line, we'll need to play more than one character. We'll both have the original guy as well as someone they know in their town. Once they are on the island, we'll both have to play a tribal person, too.
Anyways, feel free to PM me or just reply on your thread.

I absolutely adore your plot and would absolutely love to do it with you! It incorporates everything I love. ;D
And I love your cross breed of Indiana Jones, King Kong, Survivor, and LOST. [/knows all 4] xD
I also love how the plot will allow MUCH humor/comedy to develop. n__n
(Oh, and as for your list of wanted genres... of course we can do all of them! ;D)
As far as what kind of characters we can play, as far as age goes,
I was thinking young adult (21-25 or so). Up to you though.
And personality wise... I'd say they'd both need to be headstrong (being rivals),
but perhaps they could have contradicting traits too,
like one be more strong and the other be more intelligent. (Just for an example.)
I dunno though. Now I'm seriously wondering what kind of character to play in all this as well. xD
And yeah, like in most role-plays,even though we'll have our 'main guys', we'll still need side characters and such.

Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Most people would have been like - WTF is LOST. -insert sad face here-
I agree, adults would work best. And I love the idea of being headstrong. So their careers should be something that would foster such dominate-like traits. I'm a tad sick of cop stories, so perhaps we could use a stock broker, lawyer, or doctor? I guess even a marketing supervisor or military man would work, too.
Love the idea of having a second sub-dominate trait. I like the idea of one having the brains and the other the brawn/muscle. I think they should also have some bad traits as well, ya know, to make them human. Whether it is alcohol addiction or an aggressive temper, it should be something that's not too prominent, but bad enough that it'll complicate things when the right circumstances are met.
Do we need a cap on the number of side characters? Or should it just be between two to five? It's not like they'll be all that important, so we can always add more later on to replace the initial characters.

That sounds awesome-sauce to me! c: I like the edge that gives it. I think I'll have my guy be a native to the world, but also a recent capture (not one of the enemies).
Also, I'd be happy to do the first post for it if you'd like. As for who makes the thread, I'm cool either way.

@Vivienne: PM'd! >w<
@Wavikz: I watched the entire series of LOST religiously every season til the end... never been so confused in my whole entire life. xD
Ooh, I'm glad you mentioned that. I'm kindda loving the idea of military man and a lawyer now for some reason.
Probably because of the whole brains vs brawn thing, and it the headstrong thing can easily lay into both of them.
I'm also very much loving the whole alcoholism and other such sub-traits.
Like, maybe one has family or marital issues or a history of violence.
But, in terms of the actual plot, the only question would be: how would they have known each other in the past and become rivals?
Maybe something to do with a court case could work because of the lawyer, but I really don't know. >w<
And as for how many characters we can both play, I think it really depends.
First, is the 'tv show' going to be set around just those the two main character guys where it's only them on the island?
Or are there going to be more show participants on the island as well, like on Survivor?

So do you have a preference? Do you want to be a military man? Or a lawyer? I'm fine with either. And, for the sake of their profession, I'm thinking the military guy should be the abusive, hot-headed one and the lawyer should be an recovering alcoholic who is facing marital issues. These two could have met in court over some criminal act. The military man could have been their prime suspect, but we found innocent because their so-called witness ended up dying.
I feel that we should start prior to the island. Just to build up their background some. Perhaps we could start at the end of the court trial? After we've spent a day or so making them become enemies (we can do a time skip), they can receive the phone call to be on a survivor-like game show.
Would that be okay?

That sounds great. The military man is a strong, violent hot-head with anger issues and a bad temper,
and the lawyer is a smart somewhat conceited sourpuss that has marital issues and a slight drinking problem. ;3
And I'd also like to build up a sort of background with them as well, just to gain perspective, so it works out perfect.
Hmm... as for who's who with the characters, I'm actually quite torn.
I'm king of going for wanting to play the lawyer because I love playing the smart and snobby type,
but I actually don't know much about lawyers and court cases and such, so I don't know how that'd go.
And as for the military man, I suppose I know more about military stuff with my dad having been a Marine,
but I honestly don't know how well I'd play his type of character, all overly aggressive and such.
So... being torn RIGHT down the middle, I'll leave it to you. xD Do you have any preferences on who you'd like to play?

I was afraid you'd say that. I'll just have a friend decide for me. He said, "I'm too much of a softy to be the military officer, so you have to be the lawyer." XD We can always change the bad attributes. Maybe the military officer can be the "smart somewhat conceited sourpuss that has marital issues and a slight drinking problem" and the lawyer can be a cold, blunt, emotionless dick who doesn't care about anyone but himself and his money. Lol.

Wow, I actually rather like the 'cold, blunt, emotionless dick who doesn't care about anyone but himself' bit added to the lawyer. xD
I'd say: the military man has family issues (maybe he's divorced and having trouble seeing his kids or something)
(or if he's not old enough to have grown kids, he's having marital/spouse issues like you said before)
and also has a drinking problem as a result of it (though is trying to lay off, with little success).
And, of course he has anger issues as well, even without being totally wasted.
As for the lawyer, he's been in school his whole life, including law school,
and isn't that great with people as a result of not really having much 'life experience'.
Because of his education, he thinks he's better and smarter than everyone else, making him a dickard as you said.
He has distant family who lives far away and never had a steady girlfriend or got married, making him a lonely bastard.
With these standards, I... would very much like to play the lawyer, I think. >w<
At least, that's what I'm leaning more towards. If you want him though, I can easily switch.
Hmm... now, as far as age goes:
"After graduating high school, it takes about 7 years of college to become a lawyer" says some source I found.
So, say you graduate high school at 18, tag on 7 years and you get 25.
And you can join the military at the age of 18 and stay for really as long as necessary.
So, the question is: do you want our characters to be young adults, as in around the age of 25,
or a bit older, as in middle-aged adults around the age of 35-40?

All right, I can be the military officer, only I'm going to change his drinking issue. I'm not into alcohol so I can't portray a person like that properly. I'll think of some other vice. I'm thinking an egotistical, hot-headed, deceitful, emotionally disturbed man? He's seen war so maybe he's got some emotional scars? It would make him the exact opposite of his indifferent lawyer rival.
As far as age, I know most lawyers aren't actually that young. Most people go to school for something else. So I'm thinking the 27 to 32 year age range would work best. I'm thinking the military guy should be... maybe 27 and the lawyer 29? That way both have field experience?

And yes, I think he would contrast well with the emotionless lawyer. ;3
27 and 29 works for me just fine. It'd make since that they'd be a 'bit' older, so that's great.
Oh. And do you want to make character profiles or describe them through the rp?
