Why can't you make a post after yourself?
Like, when you go to post, it merges your second post with your first post.
It's kind of annoying. Is there any way to make it not do that?

Because double-posting here (posting after yourself within 5 hours after your previous post) is considered a form of spam, which is against the site rules, the automatic merge was to help the problem of newbies fresh in who are unfamiliar with the rules and also accidental double posts when the site, browser or connection trips as well as to make the moderators' lives here a little easier.
After 5 hours, consecutive posts by the same user would not merge (for bringing back threads and such).

You COULD override the automatic merge, however, if you wish to reserve posts in new threads, by clicking on the 'Go Advanced' button below the post reply box. There would be an option where you could check the "Override double post" to do so.

Please don't intentionally override the merge function unless you are reserving posts at the head of a permanent thread though, as there's no need to do that and it will be classed s spamming :)
