There was something lacking in life. Florinda Elmira knew what it was: Excitement. She supposed she should be grateful for living such a peaceful life, but for peace to be truly valued, you have to had endured hardships. And that was something Florinda did not experience which was why she sitting out on the lawn in front of her house, staring up at the cloudy blue skies on a perfectly good afternoon which she could be spending hanging out with her classmates or going to the mall like a regular teen would. Except, she didn't want to do that because it was all too dull to her.

I'm so bored... She thought, sighing. With a big huff, she sat up, a pout on her face. "There's got to be something I can do!" She yelled out to nobody in particular, catching a few stares from people passing by.

"What's bugging you this time, Flori?" An annoyed voice spoke from her left.

She turned her head to see her neighbor and childhood friend, Wellington Joseph, standing there with his arms crossed and head tilted at her. She always wondered why he angled his head like that every time he stared at somebody. Remembering what he had just said to her, she shrugged her arms. She flopped right back down on the grass and Joseph went to sit down alongside her.

"Come on, tell me. Whenever you're like this, you get louder than usual. And that's not good for the neighborhood."

"Ah, what does it matter?" She frowned. "They're all just veterans from the old wars anyways."

"Which is why you should respect them by letting them have their peace and quiet, you dolt." Joseph brung his fingers over her forehead and flicked her on the head.

"Ow! What was that for!?" She yelled, rubbing her cranium.

"For acting like a child. Come on, you're going to be a Senior after Summer vacation, you should act more adult-like now."

Florina went silent. Joseph laid back on the grass and stared up at the clouds that moved slowly across the sky.

"Why so quiet all of a sudden?" He asked, turning his head, seeing contemplative expression adorned on her face.

"You remember the old days where I always said that I wanted to grow up to become an action hero?"

Joseph raised his eyebrow at her.

"Yeah...What about it?"

"It's funny how when we were young, we want to grow up and when we finally do...It blows. All the fun times you had when you were younger are now but a memory." Florinda mused.

Joseph looked up to the sky again, trying to word over what he wanted to say in his head when he realized this was a serious conversation.

"You're right. When you look back, you had all the time in the world to have fun. Now that we're getting older, it's all this work and assignment s hit, not to mention getting a job since you want to get out of your parent's house eventually to live your own life. This is the normal life of an adult, as they say."

"Well, I only got one thing to say about that..." Florina paused, waiting for him to ask.

"And what would that be?"

"The normal life sucks." She grinned.

The two had good, hearty laugh after that.

What do you think of this little story? Where should I go next? This story can go any number of ways, but I want to hear what you people think of it.
