Ze, somethings will have changed, but you won't fall into a rut. Nothing wrong with starting a new routine since it will get you back to where you want to be. Small sacrifices now, big glory in the end.
The German exchange student we had when I was in high school has come back to California and the states a handful of times in the past 12 years on student visas. Of course, he is wickedly smart and a great sense of humor. I love giving Christian a hard time, he's good for it. He lives in Hamburg.
Baking went well, had a few oopsies, but nothing that burned the house down. Going to take some of the cookies and send them to a soldier I befriended over in Afghanistan. Karen vacuum sealed the cookies, just need to go and pick up a flat rate APO/FPO box from the post office. Might just have the husband do that Monday.
Tomorrow is all about putting the house to rights in preparation of my parents coming next weekend. They are taking us to see a football game, Cardinals V. San Francisco Forty Niners. Really looking forward to the game.

Emma - I've let a lot of my friends go in the past because we just began to differ too much, but I was really close to a few people when I left and I'm hoping we'll still have stuff to talk about when I get home.
Only one of them has ever been out of the country, and that was to visit her parents' home country of Nicaragua, so they don't really have any points of reference when I talk about my crazy adventures here in Europe.
I haven't been, either! XD
Crazy that I live so close [and have a friend there] but haven't been yet. It's ridiculously expensive, that's why. They still use Swiss Francs because they refuse to join the EU [it would just cost them money - like Germany], and the conversion rate is insane.
But I'd be going to school in Germany, still. Freiburg is in the Black Forest - it's really pretty around there.
I haven't done applications yet, but when I find out my graduation date, I'll get a head start on them. I'll need my boyfriend to help since all the apps are in German. ^^;;;
Andais - I hope not. I have to remember that my time back in the US is only temporary and that I will return to Germany as fast as possible. That's all that's keeping me going, really.

You'll get back there, Ze. One way or the other.
Today is suppose to be about cleaning and getting the Christmas tree set up, but the migraine that I had yesterday and took the meds for is still hanging with me. Not so much fun. Going to still do what I need to though since the parents are coming and the house should be presentable. Mom raised me better then having a dirty hosue when company shows up. Besides, the bathtub needs a good scrubbing. Damn husband and his use of vaseline, it leaves stains on everything. Ugh.

Hahaha That's when you dig out the map and be like "LOOKIE!! I WAS HEREEE!" Or at least that's what I'd do xD;
-would be like a kid in the candy store at having been able to travel Europe-
I mean sheesh - I get to go to Boston for my birthday to see the Final Fantasy concert and I'm already freaking out and it's not even until March!!!
Seriously??
That's crazy!! You HAVE to go when you go back to Germany :P
Haha! That's awesome! I think it's great that they haven't jumped on the bandwagon of the Euro and have kept their original currency - you don't see that often!
Yeah, but you'd be on the border-ish so you'd easily be able to hop over if you wanted :3

Haha! At least you'll have someone to help you translate!
I can imagine how much of a pain that would be because you'd have to have the literal meanings and not a semi-contextual meaning :3

How is Hime doing?
Is it odd that I have no real desire to travel outside of the United States...Canada is a possibility, but there are so many places here and things to see that interest me more then traveling out of the country. It would be cool some day to see Ireland and Scotland as that is part of my ancestry, but if I were to die tomorrow and never see the those countries, I wouldn't regret how I lived and what I saw. Rodd has done enough traveling for the both of us.
Kind of missing the time when we didn't have any neighbors next door. Our new ones have a tendency to stomp around, slam things and generally make a lot of noise. Rodd doesn't seem to mind it so much, but it does start to get a little annoying. Now I understand what Fflur was talking about when she said that apartment life could really suck with the right neighbors. Hopefully we will only be here for a year and have a house of our own. Or maybe rent a house. We'll see.
Happy news! Rodd has two job interviews set up for this week! Oh the joy and happiness. I'm kind of hoping one of them takes a liking to him and hires him. They are contracting positions right now, but something is better then nothing since it's not certain that he would get the extension for his unemployment. I hear they are trying to do away with extensions...they should do that after there are enough jobs opened for the people on unemployment.

Haha, that's basically what I do. I take hundreds of pictures and then get all excited and tell people about it until they don't want to hear anymore. XD
And yeah, good for them, but the EU could really use more big contributors right now. At the moment, it's just Germany and France paying for all the other countries in the EU, basically. With the Euro Crisis well under foot, poor Germany is probably regretting ever joining the EU because they're the only ones doing well, really.
I do want to go, but you have to have your passport [which I usually don't bring anywhere] and money converted, so I might just wait until I come back to visit.
I do - only one or two left, but I'm not sure which yet. I am going to beg the head of the Honors College to let me fit both the planning and actual thesis classes into one semester, and if I can manage that, I can finish off my econ classes over the summer and be done by the time Fall semester starts in Germany. :3
I just have to go back and beg the director first. XD;; And if she says no, I'll be stuck in school in the US for two more semesters. :[
Also I'll have someone to proofread my papers and make sure I don't make any grammatical or spelling errors. That'll be handy since I know my grammar isn't always my strong point in German. >.>;;;;

All of you are awesome looking in your outfits. Love checking in here and seeing what people are wearing. Tonight is going to be a quiet one for me. Got the blanket to finish up and get ready to send to Lilim. I am little behind on getting it completed.
Rodd bought the movie, 30 minutes or Less. Love this movie.

Haha Same :3
I love taking pictures, but it's hard because I can't keep the camera still :(
I've thought about tripods, but they're not convenient for sight-seeing, ya know?
I'm hoping my new camera will be one that will work with my shaky hands and will take decent pictures :3
Though I have no idea what even constitutes as a good camera XD;
Yeah, that's true - that is probably really frustrating :(
I still don't like the Euro though - I would much prefer seeing country's original currency, ya know?
But I sort of like the concept of the Euro, just not the fact that it takes everyone's currency and uniforms it :(
Ohhh - gotcha :3
I didn't realize you had to convert your money before-hand :3
Still would be an awesome experience though!
Still totally envious that you even are close to Switzerland T_T <3
Ooo Good luck hun!!
Hopefully they let you <3
Grammar in any language is awkwardly difficult - there are so many different interpretations of grammar and so many style choices that people consider rules (do's and don't's, like the final comma in a list that's optional), that you never know what someone is going to freak out over while reading or grading a paper, ya know?
I ran into that problem this entire semester. Because I didn't carbon copy her writing and had different style choices and ways of putting things into words (all of which were grammatically correct, mind you), I kept getting points taken off and comments on how she would have preferred me to write or different topics she would have preferred me to use when writing the papers for her >.>
Because the papers weren't open topic or anything :roll::headdesk:
I just didn't understand her at all lol
Shouldn't she be helping us improve our writing skills, not making us get rid of our writing style and conform and copy hers?
I mean, I write in an artistic way, using metaphors and imagery etc., and "while it worked, she would have preferred it written in such and such a way". :roll:
Anywho - at last you'll have your boyfriend or one of your friends from college (that you met in Germany) or a professor of German at your home school to help you with getting the translation right grammatically :3
Will definitely be a relief and less nerve wracking!!

Everyone at work seems to be getting sick. Doing my best to avoid since there are many things coming up that require me to be well and healthy. This week is getting better though...get to leave early Thursday and then Friday I have the day off. Woohoo! All of next week I am off, get to see friends and family. Need to wrap mom's gift and load the music onto the ipod that I bought dad.
There is also some baking that needs to be done as well. My friend bought me the peppermint oil that is needed for some cookies and I think Thursday after work and our walk, going to get hot on making the cookies. Want to ship some to afghanistan to a soldier I befriended. Sending him and his peeps home made cookies and hot chocolate mix. Thought it was too good to pass up.
Emma, don't worry about the wall of text, keep on chatting with Ze. More gold made form posting the better and it's not bothering me none.
Star, you shouldn't be so pessimistic about your chances of winning things. What you throw out in the universe comes back to you. Optimism is a good thing to have. Not saying to lie to yourself, but having a positive outlook on things tends to get you further in life. Not preaching, just stating a mindset.
Rodd has a job interview Thursday! Yahoo! Very excited about him getting work and not just sitting at home playing video games.

@Andi: Mmm - those sound yummy!
Are they a peppermint chocolate cookie or..?
Okies haha
When star commented on both mine and Molie's posts, it got me a little tweaked as well as confused because I didn't think there was any harm with it as we were having a legitimate conversation about multiple things and it was actually helping me earn old for the Oriental Fan I'm after and it was helping Molie earn gold as well, plus it kept the thread active and it wasn't the first time a long conversation has happened around here lol
Ah well - to each their own opinion on long conversations!
As long as it's not bothering everyone then I'll still post ^_^ <3
Ooo!
I wish him luck!!
Oh jeez - he sounds like my brother lol!
That's all my brother's been doing lately while he waits to start college - playing games on either the computer or the x-box 360 lol
Drives me crazy because whenever you go to talk to him about something or ask him something it's always "I'M IN A GAME! I'M IN A GAME! I'M IN A GAME!" - just like a broken record :P
Has Rodd gotten to that point yet?
@Star: It's ok... :/
You could always try a hot cloth or something :3
That always helps me when my hip swells and goes out of alignment :3
