Here's a thread to talk about all those wonderful diversions from the main plot. Do you take time to complete every sidequest before finishing the game, or just blaze through and complete them after it's over?
Personally I think Ocarina of Time has the best sidequests ever, I've spend untold amounts of time fishing. Getting the biggorron sword was awesome and I used it maybe... once.

I do some, but only the ones that pop up quickly. If I have to go looking for it, I can't be bothered. I have a problem with laziness... Well, not really a problem, I enjoy it.

I love looking for side quests from time to time, but it depends on how out of the way they are and how difficult they can be. If I have to backtrack after playing for 4 hours just for a side quest with a somewhat decent item, I find it annoying, but if it isn't that long or hard I like to do them.
I like the requests you get from Elizabeth/Theodore in Persona 3 Portable, they can be so weird! Like taking them to the playground or bringing them dog food.

One of the games I play now is sort of like an MMORPG, save for the fact that it isn't actually online. I use the sidequests for training, but sometimes I get fed up with doing annoying ones. >.> The game I'm playing is 'Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology'. I love my character dearly (she's a thief! :D) and she's gotten so strong that I can take care of most missions fairly fast. ^^ I have to complete a certain number of sidequests before I can feel confident about doing the tougher story quests... Because the story quests are fairly difficult when they first pop up. If you train (and sometimes over-train) it'll be easier.

Personally I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sidequests in Majora's Mask, especially the Kafei/Anju one. I could spend HOURS doing them over and over again (because you actually CAN do that XD) From all the games I've played, Zelda games seem to have the BEST side quests. But I dnno for sure, I don't play a lot of non Zelda Games... though Harvest Moon always seems like one big sidequest to me.

Oh, the Kafei/Anju one is so so sad though! I couldn't bear to do it over and over again. The keaton mask is my favorite, though.

It really is tragic, but it's so heart-warmingly romantic it takes my breath away and I ADORE the Couples Mask (is that the name? haven't played it recently) It's my second favourite, after Kamaro's mask of course XP

I have OCD with sidequests. I feel compelled to finish as many as possible. Doesn't help that I'm really not keen with the Main Quest in Oblivion, so I just keep doing all the sidequests until there's none left, before I grudgingly go to save the world. *sigh*

I can never go through a game and storm through the main plot as quick as I can. It's just not right! I want to explore the game, get as much out of each thing I have to do, so I can complete the game properly. :')
