Well I couldn't find a topic on this game (correct me if i'm wrong) so I thought i might as well start one. I got Golden Sun Dark Dawn when it first came out and have finished it. I thought it was a good game although the puzzles seemed a bit easier compared to the first two games. My question is what do the rest of you guys think of this game or the other Golden Sun games? Feel free to talk about anything and everything Golden Sun here :)

I have Volume two for the gameboy advance..., yes it was very difficult I thought. I haven't played the new one yet, I am still trying to get through Dragon Quest IX. The puzzles were so perplexing that I quit for a while and then gave it another try. The series are great for hard core RPGerrs like myself.

So you have GS: The Lost Age? I agree that that one was hard, especially when facing Dulahan who guarded the Iris summoning Tablet...he's just always a bastard. I know of the series Dragon Quest but never got into it myself though I have heard from friends that it's good.

I never actually finished the game, although I wished I would have. I found myself getting frustrated with the game. I have plenty of games to be out there buying anything new for now. Especially since I'm playing Dragon Quest IX and Maple Story online. When I get more hours at work and beat DQIX I may break down and buy it as it does look like a good game.

I should buy it, and probably finish getting everything 100% in Golden Sun, then play through GS: LA, then play through GS: DD. But, that will have to wait until AFTER christmas, since all my money is tied up in Credit, and rent.

@Kole: What were you getting frustrated about?

@Draciolus: That would be a good idea XD Though getting all the stuff in GS and GS Lost Age will take a while...especially in Lost Age.

The puzzles were very difficult to figure out. I finally gave in to my frustration and gave up and erased my game and haven't had the fortitude to pick it back up and start again.

@Kole: Well that is kinda true but you eventually get better at them and they do give you hints. If you decide to play again maybe a walkthrough at parts when you get stuck would help?

@Draciolus: Congrats on that ^_^ Btw who's your fav character in GS/GS: LA?

Yea, I kind of wished I had the first one though, I hate playing games out of sequence.

@Kole: ...haveing the first one would have helped you out tremendously cause if you had beated the first one and gotten to a relitivley good/high lvl when you started the second one you could enter in a code (which you get from the first one) so that you can get all the stats from your characters there for them in the 2nd game when you eventually team up with Issac's team in the 2nd one.

@Draciolus: Aw dang >.< My fav would have to be Issac, Felix, and Alex; though i have a love hate thing going on for him

Importing characters from a previous game? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the game though? I guess it wouldn't be too bad though, you could enjoy the story more instead of having to worry about grinding so much. Plus I hate not knowing the whole story, it's been so long since I last gave it a go that I really don't remember too much along the story line of the game.

Well it doesn't really defeat the purpose cause you still have to level up your other team (felix's team) or whatever you choose to have as an alt team since in Lost Age you get Issac's team (regardless of import or not; all at around the lvl30s i think) around halfway or 2/3 of the way of the game. The only difference wich the import helps with is that if you leveled Issac's team in the first one beyond the 30s, you keep the armor that your party in the first one had, and if you got all the Djinn then you would keep them all. Regardless I'd still think you'd have to grind at certain points since the bosses ARE harder in Lost Age then they were in the first GS game especially the side boss Dulahan that guards the strongest summon in the game.

Maybe I will go online and see if I can't find the first game when I get some more hours at work. I have plenty of games to keep me busy until then. Got to think of important things -- like rent, power, gas for the car...lol just the basics lol.
From what I remember the story was pretty in depth and the game play was really fun. I'm half way through Dragon Quest IX, perhaps when I finish that I will try Lost Ages again...

Oh yes the storyline was really good. That's one of the things i loved about the GS series. Also, there's no need to rush or anything XD I know that all that stuff is more important than a game.

Ooooh my god. I cannot wait to get Dark Dawn. GS and GS: LA were the first RP games I ever played and they were AMAZING! :D I loved how great the storylines were, how awesome the characters were, and how challenging the game could get (I remember taking forever to beat Saturos at the Mercury Lighthouse; I was soooo not prepared).

It seemed like they ended the second game pretty well. I didn't even think they'd make another sequel, so I'm kind of curious where this new one will go. Well, I guess I'll find out after Christmas...-sigh- That's too long of a wait...

Well apparently there will be more games >.>

When I faced Saturos at the Mercury lighthouse in GS I was kinda overpowered since i didn't know at the time that you had to use ply on the stupid statue. Needless to say I was running around the lighthouse grinding and trying to figure out what I was supposed to do for a while. Though thanks to that Saturos was no prob at that point XD

As for Dark Dawn, I wish you luck while playing the game. It's fun and Dulahan returns >.< The only thing I have to say that's slightly negative is that Dark Dawn seemed a bit easier with the puzzles they used compared to the first two games.

I played through most of the first two games, but never completed them. (I still have them, but I don't know if I would remember what was going on or what I still needed to do in order to pick them back up and play...) but I recently got Dark Dawn and have just started. I'm in Carvers place right now...if that tells you how new I am to the game. But so far I'm really enjoying it. It does seem to be easier than the original two though. Which I did find as a bit of a let down. Oh well. I look forward to playing through it the rest of the way!

Yeah, I beat the game in like two weeks. I loved the storyline but like....it made me ticked off when I got to the ending cause now we have to wait for the next installment of Golden Sun >.<. Who were your fav characters in the game?

I LOVED the first two games, they felt like something directly out of the older consoles, while introducing some interesting things. However, honestly I thought putting it to 3D graphics took some away from it when I looked at things, even if they did remind me of some items on the PS1. And on the return to the GS world it felt like a LOT of things were missing for how varied it was on GS 1 and 2, and the plot was vey similar... well, maybe next game.

True, they didn't add to many new things to Dark Dawn, though I did like how Alex came back. Hopefully the next chapter in the GS series will have a better plot and try to add something new to it. One thing I'd have to say that I didn't like was how Issac's and Garret's sons looked almost exactly like they did as kids >.> Especially Issac.

What was with that and the characters anyway? I understand how some cues are helpful and are welcome with looks, such as how colors can be equated with elements. And there was Eoleo (which was awesome to see returning along with Alex). But did we need to see so much looking so much the same? I like the fact that we're going back to the land, but surely looks have changed over so many years just a little more in at least fashion.

I know >.< I mean even the new water adept city looked like Piers' people when they weren't. Though at least the mystery nation of ppl that were the bad guys this time around look like they'll be different. I mean they look more technologically inclined than psyenergy inclined.
