My brush with Tagalog was very brief, only having been in the Philippines for about a month back when I was 11. xD

Tanda kurung sounds like "old person" and "caged" in Taglalog. It's just one letter that's different. Were you used to warm weather back then? 'Cause I know it can get very hot :)
