The bottom is not removable. But there is definitely something strange down there. It is not like the bottom of regular ponds.

There is clearly an image in the base of the pond. Brushing coins away enough you can see that it takes up the entire bottom of the pond. It depicts two birds, that oddly look like Moltres and Articuno, intertwining and a very shiny egg below them.
