I am wondering now.. which is preferred more in this thread, the true science of astronomy, or the pseudoscience that is astrology?

So I guess.. astrology is popular because the astrologic profiles are designed to be 'personal' ; the Forer effect is invoked, where a person consideres statements about him/herself to be accurate even if they are very vague descriptions!

Haha. I guess you could say so. :) You should've seen what happened when I mentioned that all the stars had shifted and that, indeed, our sun signs should be shifted backwards by about three weeks. Thus making everyone one sign higher than they should be.

Ohh is that the precession of the equinoxes??? Where the tropical year of seasons and sidereal year of constellations slowly change positions over a ~25.700 year cycle.. right??? That's why the vernal equinox now points to a different sign than that from over two thousand years ago.

O.O No. This theory isn't based off of that, though that itself is an interesting tidbit of information that I'd forgotten about. :) The reason that the stars have shifted, according to astronomers, is that the earth's axis wobbles and it has now managed to wobble so far out of place that people are acknowledging the difference it has made in the stars/ star signs of astrology. Astrologers (some of them at least) have, in fact, added a 13th sign to the zodiac, due to this severe shift.

The thing is, that this shift has been known for CENTURIES and no one paid any attention to it until the last few recent centuries.

I thought that the precession is from the 'wobble' of the Earth's axis relative to the background stars. But there is a clear difference between the tropical zodiac (based on vernal equinox) and sidereal zodiac (based on constellations).

I'll admit it. I think you got me on that one. :) A lot of websites are trying to claim that it's the moon that causes the earth to wobble on its axis, but I know it's not quite as simple as that. Either way, I'm not awake enough to try and search it out on the web.

Surprisingly good haha. C: I feel actually rested today. Although I had a pretty weird dream. xDD;; Euphi was in it too! lol. There was some kind of snake, I guess it was the most poisonous snake in the world or something, and it was creepin' up on my shoulder. o - o And I was so scared it was going to bite me. And it chased me at one point too. This is where my fear of snakes will grow. xD
