I am jealous of you ferra - I always wanted to do that too while I was in high school. I never did stick to my guns though and I ran off to England to get married. It was an experience all in itself and I'm happy with life at the moment...but I always kinda look back and think man I wish I fit that in too!
I added a new feature. Or for the lazy, click here.
It's not an English-language band, and that's off-putting for some people (also since it's not Asian non-English  ) but they have a very... Western sound, if you ask me. But at the same time, not quite like anything I've heard before. Hope you guys will give them and a chance and maybe like them. They're one of my favorite bands. :D
Oh, and the music video's cool, too. Projections from a moving car... fun. Also contains many rolled R's. Oh, and in English, the name of the song is "Contraband."

@Cherry: I plan to feature a bunch of non-English songs in my post. :) Right now I have a Spanish song posted. Thanks for sharing that song! I really like it. I have a smattering of songs in different languages, but the majority are Japanese for obvious reasons.
@Izumi: Well you're eligible until you're 40, so there's always a chance. Although the program looks like it might not last that long. :( There's been more and more talks of cuts and fewer people are hired each year.
I've never been to Europe and I'm no where close to being married, so I'm jealous of you too!
Ferra & Howdy - Yay! I'm glad you liked it. :D If either of you are interested, I have a few other songs of theirs in my post. "California Snitsa," "Cupid Cats," "Vladivostok 2000" and "We Overslept."
I'm learning Russian. Albeit slowly. I know a handful of random words gleaned from songs, and I can ask if someone speaks English... which is actually a pretty pointless phrase since if they did, you could just ask in English, and if they didn't, they wouldn't understand but it wouldn't matter. So I don't know much, but... the intention is there.
Howdy - Ooh, I like. Thanks for sharing! :D Now I've looked up the track listing for the Russian station on GTA. Yay, I have new Russian songs to look into! I'm interested in Russia's music, but I don't even know where to start looking since... since I'm so far removed from the culture that I never hear about the bands or anything.
I feel compelled to mention that my current video is a fan made one, and that the young lady appearing in it is not affiliated with the band or the track playing over it. It's a well done project, though.
I rarely watch music videos anyways (official or otherwise) so I'm going to say that most of the songs I feature will not include an official video.
But I'm one of those weird people who doesn't really give a crap about who is singing. There are bands I really like for their sound and I may listen to them for years, but I know next to nothing about who they are. *shrugs*
Yes, I know very little about the music I listen to as well. By and large, I consider myself musically illiterate. At this stage in my life, I know enough to know that I don't have a favourite band. I like music, but I don't think it plays as large a role in my life as it does in many other peoples. I think my love of the literary and visual arts encroaches on that province...
I didn't really start listening to music as a "hobby" until junior high and even then I mostly stole music off of my brother. Even now our tastes in music overlap quite a bit.
I do have a playlist of favorite songs that I've built up over the years, but I tend to pick one or two songs from an artist and ignore the rest. That's partly because I'm lazy, though. If I had more drive I'm sure I'd seek out and find a lot more songs to add.
I'm the exact opposite. Once I start getting into a band, I look them up to find out various things about them. I rarely know the whole band's line-up, but I almost always know at least the lead singer's name and can generally recognize them on site.
Music is my favorite art form. And I seem to have no limit to how much useless trivia I can hold (and want to hold).

Yup, i'm the same. There are tons of bands and artists I like, but I know little to nothing about the majority of them. Only when I really, really get into the music will I become curious.
edit: Also... Hooray, Demo music.

Yay, I'm not alone! XD Not saying it's bad to get super into bands/singers, but I always feel out of place when my friends rattle off about the bands they like and then I have nothing to say about my favorite bands.
There have been only 2 bands that I purposely actually went looking through their music to find more songs. The first was Arashi (and that was more because mother was into it and kept bugging me for it) and Nickleback. (Back when I discovered "If Everyone Cared" my brother said I'll probably like and should know more of their songs.... he was right.)
Even then though, I known utterly nothing about them? xD *can name 2 out of 5 Arashi members... which is a huge improvement to everything else cause doesn't know the names of any band members, unless they're sole singers* And only reason why I know the two is because my mother was obsess with them? xD *shot*
You are my soul soul itsumo sugu soba ni aru~
Arashi Arashi for dream~
My goodness, I think Arashi was my first j-pop band back in high school almost 10 years ago, all thanks to Pancake.
I have a friend whose name is similar to Nino, so we all call her Neyno now. rofl
I'm more like Howdy. If anything, I'll just try to remember the band name so I can say "Oh have you heard of so-n-so song from so-n-so band?" or something similar.
I used to be OBSESSED with Motley Crue back in high school (and I believe part of college) and now I just like their stuff. My current obsession is with Bowie, but it may pass just like it did with Motley. If I become obsessed with a band or musician, it's usually just one thing/person at a time. I also have a minor sub-obsession with KISS, but it isn't that bad. When it comes to the majority of what I listen to, according to Last.fm, I've heard stuff from over 4k artists and I don't remember 90% of them.

(Directed at most of the people above me) If music isn't where your passion lies, what IS your favorite thing? Just out of curiosity - interests are fun. :D
