In the age of next-gen consoles like XBox 360, Wii, and PS3, I feel as if the good ole' systems don't really get the lovin' they deserve. And even among the retro systems, I find that Sega often takes a back seat to the big Nintendo name (don't get me wrong, I adore Nintendo).

So anyway, what's your number one Sega Genesis game?

In my opinion...

Shining Force II!

A wonderful game that isn't nearly as popular as it deserves. <3

I loved the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Always. <3 There's no game series that is like it. I also liked the game Echo. Echo was weird, strange and addicting for me. <3 Epic dolphins FTW

I loved pretty much all Genesis games. Sega is my lover. I could marry that company I swear... but anyways. xD I loved Toejam and Earl the most. XD

@Prince: Toejam and Earl was so much fun!!!

Well... I never could figure out how to play the first game. But Panic on Funkotron was one of my absolute favourites. ^_^

@Princess: Unfortunately, I always just got upset when I tried playing Echo... As fun as it is to swim around, I was terrible at that game. ^^;

Ooooh! One of my other favourites was Earthworm Jim! Sheer classic.

I'm in agreement: these are all great games, my favorite ones have to be the sonic games though, that series was just great!

I absolutely adored Sonic 2. But that's probably just because you had the option to play as Tails, who I love, lol. xD

Also... the Sonic music was great!

my favorite games on sega genesis are Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Frogger. Out of those 2, I prefer Sonic the Hedgehog because its alot more practical, challenging, and its really fun. That means my #1game would be Sonic the Hedgehog 2.:yumeh1:

I have a soft spot for Toejam and Earl (I'm currently replaying it on the Wii's Virtual console.) but I'm also a big fan of Earthworm Jim and the Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Wow, that was a LONG time ago. I don't remember the names of the games anymore. There was one that was a forward scrolling sword and sorcery type. At one point there is a boss that would send these little flame monsters after you? and when I would play the wizard I could kill those by just shooting zaps out of my staff along the ground. So I'd pile things on my controller and go away for an hour or so. Those flame demons regenerated endlessly! so I'd rack uber points to buy potions with.

There was another one where you were like this kid who could put on various different types fo hats. Each hat gave you a different limited power. I remember one of the end bosses was like this giant head that would chant "DIE!" at you in a low ominous voice.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Wonderful game.

Then I had beloved favorite sports games like Super High Impact (hardest football game EVER) and Pat Riley's Basketball . . .

Other than that it was nothing but Disney games. XD (Mickey's Ultimate Challenge, Little Mermaid, Belle's Quest, Aladdin, Toy Story . . .)

I loved playing Gunstar Heroes. My friends and I used to play that game all the time until they sold their system at a garage sale.

Aw man, these games ALL sound so awesome. xD

I unplugged my wii the other day and started playing The Lion King... That game is so hard and infuriating! xD
I also recently bought Mortal Kombat II, also a fun one. ^^

I think these old games have so much merit, I can't believe more people don't play them still.

If there was a way to mod them for PC, I might.
Or at least for the PS2. To me that's still the most versatile gaming system.

Before I bought me Sega, I just downloaded a Sega Genesis Emulator. That way you can just download games you don't have and play them on the computer.

That's how I play Shining Force... the game is so popular, but not many copies were printed. It's hard to find a hard copy. :(
