I want to do retail at this point in my life. I crave the interaction of different people coming in and out. Even if some of those people could end up to be of the demanding dick variety.

I'm warehouse folk... >>

Not exactly what I was thinking when I chose a major in computer animation, that's what I get for not wanting to run my parents into the poorhouse.

I once got yelled at by a "little person?" when working retail. She wanted capris in winter and we didn't carry them out of season, and it was apparently my fault. :| meh.
Good night Ladies. I have lesson plans to write tomorrow, cheers!

I'm sure your parents would not appreciate it. xD

Meanwhile, I got my bundle copies of my short story in the mail today: :: Indy Planet ::

Eeeh! That's cool, Hyena!

I'm not entirely sure they would notice. They aren't all that observant of telly that isn't MSNBC or HGTV.

I could sell them for $1.40 each and still come out ahead. <3

They might not notice right away, but I bet when they actually did notice they'd be a little ticked off. xD

I know. I won't do it. If only to avoid the red tape.
But you know... once I finish paying off those student loans, I should have some money freed uuuup...

I would propose that this be something you do once you move out of your parent's place. xD

Yes, yes. Something I am desirous of. Just waiting for the stars to align in their own little way. Which I'm sure they will.

Getting what you want out of life, whether it be access to British television, or something more far reaching.

Ah. For me that would be getting my books published. BEFORE I graduate college, preferably.

Have you... tried... proposing them to a publishing firm yet?

I was distracted by LXD. >_____>

You can make proposals for unfinished works, depending on the publishing firm. When I was still trying to find a publisher for The Bend, a large number of them were looking for pieces that were ongoing. This benefits them as a company because it means that if the start of the series is a big hit, they can ride it for awhile. Same holds true for literary work as well as visual. If they like the proposal, they might be in contact with you to see your work in action.

Also, a professor once told me that the best thing you can do as a writer to get feedback is to submit short stories to already existing literary publications. They're good for getting your name out there. Publishers get a million emails a day telling them that they should publish this book or that book, but if they pick up a copy of a literary mag and find someone who is already established as reputable and doesn't necessarily have representation, they're more likely to consider you as a client.

Hm. I've started looking for anthology books to get published in, and a lot of them are related to an anthology magazine of some sort.

Seriously. Do it. The worst that will happen is they say "no."

The way it used to be, if you were good enough someone would publish you, but the market changed a little. Now its a matter of how many times a publisher hears your name. xD

Also, you might want to get a copy of this: WritersMarket.com

Nooo problem!

I mean, obviously I'm not making millions off of my work, so take it with a grain of salt. But anytime I asked for advice on how to get published, more established people than me pretty much told me what I just told you. xD

I'm not concerned about the money (while it would be extremely helpful!); I just wanna be published to cryin' out loud!

Anyway, g'night everyone. Bed is calling!
