I'm sure we've got a castle somewhere in Germany. Not that this says much. You can't take a step in a field in Germany without tripping over some kind of castle ruins...

I took art history 202, which was that period through the early renaissance. Well, I took all art history that was on offer.

I had the BEST art history prof. He was hilarious and a genius. Fluent in all the romance languages AND German. Could never get the hang of Chinese, though. He made jokes all the time... it was cute. >w<

Mine was pretty neat too. She wrote me glowing letters of recommendation and such, and really wanted me to go into the field. Which it seems I inevitably will.

I love art history, but I'm not gonna take it here, because I've heard bad things about the proffs who teach it.

If Rarick liked you, he would give you a letter of recommendation. And he liked you if you spoke up in class and got at least a C. His class was hard. xDD
Rightly so, though. It was a lot to remember. His Asian Art course was slightly easier in that it generally had more distinguishable differences in region and time period. With Medieval art it was basically "church... church... church... oh look. Another church."

My dad tells me that we're descended from King Louis II.
I don't know how true that is...
Taiyo: I'm sure they have art history classes at a community college. Cheaper, too. >____>

You could always graduate from the school you're in now, move to a different state where your gran doesn't have any influence over you, and then take an art history course at the community college in the area wherever you disappear to.

My gran isn't the main reason for not going to a community college....too many of the people I went to high school with are going to the local community college, and I really don't want to see their faces again, considering how about 90% of them were assholes.

Oh. xD
I can relate. That's why I didn't go to IUSB. Of my grad class that DID go to college, most of them went there. And... y'know... while a lot of them went to Ball State like I did, BSU is a much bigger campus and I would have at least had the chance to live outside the town I grew up in.
Also I would not have had the chance to meet Liz. And would have probably ended up hanging out with the same people I hung out with in high school. And... after talking with them... I'm very glad I made that decision.
Consider community college when you get a chance to have a permanent housing situation of your own. Its what most of my friends are doing. xD

My favorite Pratchett books are the ones featuring the witches. I finished Carpe Jugulum a few months ago when I still had some downtime to spend reading.
Though, now I'm reading some Orson Scott Card because... well... my dad heard that I was interested in his work and proceeded to buy a good half of his novels on ebay... its somewhat more dense by comparison...
|
I really loved the book over the movie specifically for a few reasons... the description of what happens inside the lightning quick sand. The fact that the "pit of despair" is actually a training ground for the prince where he keeps live animals that he fights against and kills. The description of westly's greatest fear, how the prince uses it after discovering it and how he overcomes it. AND... the writer's aside before they go into the "fire swamp".
I've always been a huge fan of Terry Pratchett, but sadly I haven't read even as many books as I own. I need to get started on that again. Once he got diagnosed with his disease I promised I'd read all of the Discworld series before he died.
Orson Scott Card is epic... mainly for his Ender's Game series. I'm not sure which one you're currently reading or looking into reading. But I loved Ender's game and all those that came after it.

The funniest things for me where Humperdinck's asides, which I don't think made it into the movie.

Where do you get that Englebert Humberdinck wrote it? I've never seen it written anywhere. I know wiki isn't the end all answer for it. But every single copy I've ever seen all say they're origionally written by "S. Morgenstern" (which is a fake name) and abridged by Goldman. Where are you getting Englebert from? I thought he was a singer, not a writer...

I totally hate Goldman for give the "1st chapter" of Buttercup's baby. Like I totally want to actually read that book, but it doesn't exist. My oldest sister sent a letter to him and everything. All you get is an apology.

o.o I haven't even heard of that.... makes me want to see if i can find a copy somewhere. Short stories are awesome... even if the author is horrid and claims they're chapter 1 to something that doesn't exist. XD

It was in the anniversy addition of the book. ((I think it was also in honor of Andre the Giant who played Fezzick, and had died.))
