Kent Harper watched as the life he once lived disappeared behind a pair of foreboding metal doors. Two ladies in white gripped both of his arms and led him away from the doors and further into the A. P. Johnson Mental Asylum. He lowered his head as he walked, his brown hair covering his eyes and shielding them from the bright white walls, floor tiles, clothes...everything. It's enough to make my eyes bleed, he thought, grimacing at the notion. The ladies pulled him to a counter where another lady in white handed him a few forms on a clipboard. Kent turned his head away in refusal.

"Mr. Harper," the lady on his right arm began, "You have to fill out these forms."

Kent replied with silence.

The woman on his left sighed angrily and tugged his arm, pulling him away from the counter. "Don't worry, Stacy, we'll get him to fill it out later."

They continued through the building in silence until they approached Kent's new living quarters. "Your room," stated one of them matter-of-factly as she opened the door for him, ushering him inside. As he entered the room, he heard the door slam shut behind him followed by the clicks of multiple locks. He shuffled over to his bed where a pile of off-white garments awaited him. Jesus, I can't even keep my own damn clothes...

Kent changed into the new pair of clothes and then took a seat on his bed, holding his arms across his chest in shame. After what happened yesterday, he felt like his own identity was leaving him along with what was left of his sanity. He remembered that day in court very well, when he received a guilty verdict for attempted murder as well as a diagnosis for severe schizophrenia. "It was self-defense!" he remembered screaming to the judge. "He had a mask and a knife! He was going to kill me!" But the prosecutor assured the courtroom that that was not so; the man Kent attacked wore a suit and tie and the only item he wielded was a suitcase--he was simply an innocent man heading home after work.

"Not true," Kent murmured aloud as he laid down on the bed, his hands held behind his head and his green eyes staring vacantly through the small square window in his door. Kent knew what he saw on that evening. There was no "innocent man," only a killer thirsting for his blood. But it seemed he was the only one who thought that. Three witnesses testified against him. The jury unanimously decided his fate. Even his defense attorney sided against him.

God, he felt so alone. And in this place, he was certain he'd feel no different. He knew he was the only sane person in this establishment...but for how long? How long did he have before he'd be stripped of his life and forced into insanity like the others? All he knew was that the answer would be soon. Too soon.

Masy sighed as she went from room to room phasing through every door and listening in on every conversation. Every day it was the same old thing "Room AB12 refuses to eat""Room A37 is screaming again""Room C97 needs their meds""Room A73 refuses to take their meds""Room D74 attacked a staff member again" It was getting so old and it made her sick. She sighed as she walked down the almost empty corridor of the D block where all the "highly dangerous" patients were kept. Her feet touched the ground making the sounds of footsteps as she walked through the halls. She walked straight to one room in particular... the room that had contained her fiancee in it after he had supposedly "Killed a man" as they had said before. He was here for almost five years before he was finally sentenced to death after the judge finally came up with a verdict. It was room D69(lol sorry just had to do it XD ) and apparently they had just brought in someone new to put in here. She phased through the door her feet still tapping on the floor wondering what the male that now inhabited the room would do. She looked at him and felt a sharp cold pang in her unbeaten heart... he looked like Mason and that made her heart hurt and ache for her old lover. She looked at the male and let a lightly transparent form of her appear so he could see her though she stayed silent.

Kent closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, praying that he could quickly fall asleep and float away in past memories or surreal paradises. As he let out a soft exhale, his breath suddenly hitched and his eyes snapped open. Outside his room, he could hear the patter of footsteps approaching. He leaned on his arm and lifted his torso to get a better look through his door's window, and as the footsteps halted in front of his room the window remained empty. The man chuckled and laid back on his bed. If this place continued to be so noisy, he might never be able to sleep.

Suddenly, the footsteps began again, sounding even closer and closer to his door. Kent tightly closed his eyes and rolled over, grumbling loudly, "Go away! I'm not going to fill out those damned forms!" The footfalls persisted, getting even closer until sounded like someone was in the room with him. What the hell is this?, he thought as he rolled back over to see what was depriving him of his sleep. His eyebrows furrowed as he studied the empty room. His door was still locked and shut, so no one had gotten in. But the footsteps ceased in his room. In his room.

"Man, I'm just kidding myself," he murmured with a smirk as he placed a palm against his forehead. "They must have slipped something into my water to actually make me believe I'm crazy." He sat up on his bed, resting his hands on his knees and staring across his room. "All right, medication, what crazy things are you gonna make me see this time?" he said, sneering. This must be some crazy, sick joke. He wouldn't be surprised if the asylum staff was watching his every move, laughing as the drugs kicked into his system.

As he watched the space across the room, he saw something pale shimmer in the air. What the hell?, he thought as he watched the paleness expand and twist before his very eyes. The white wisps swirled and merged, taking on familiar forms like an eye, an ear, a nose...

Kent turned his head away and shut his eyes. "This must be some pretty strong stuff," he muttered as he stood up, making his way to the sink. Cool water ran from the faucet and he sprinkled it across his face. "None of this exists. I'm not going to serve as anyone's entertainment in this crap-hole."

((Also, I took a look at your roleplay request thread and I just want to apologize in advance for anything I say. xD When I write, I basically just describe what the character(s) in my head do. I write down exactly what they say and what they do. Sometimes a character comes along that has the mouth of a sailor. In all honesty, I detest cursing, but it's something that real people do. I just try to reflect the realism of life in my characters. ))

(it's fine just so long as there's not too much GD, JC,and also like MF I never liked that XP ow and I have charas like that too XD Masy isn't one of them though... she's a prankster X3 Didn't we have another rp? I can't remember...)

Masy grinned some letting herself vanish then started walking around again. "There are no cameras in this room.... I don't like them.... it's just you... and me" she said slowly and almost suductively smirking at the male who seemed to be highly paranoid. She loved screwing with patients... it was rather fun and amusing and also one of the only things she had to do. She let little murmurs fill the room none of them of a repeating voice and she made it look like there were a few people outside the door by their shadows to freak the male out. Of course if you went up to the door there would be no one there and that was when Masy would retract the shadows so she could really make these guys think that they were crazy.

Kent froze for a moment as shivers cruelly clenched his spine. He felt clusters of gooseflesh rise on his skin and his mouth tasted of dry, unforgiving desert sands. In his chest, his heart pounded wildly against his ribcage, almost desperate for escape. He actually had heard a voice. A voice right inside his room.

What the hell is this?, he asked to himself as the cold faucet water dribbled over his shaking hands.

For a moment, he truly questioned if he had been drugged at all. What if he really was crazy? What if the judge, prosecutor, and jury were right? Perhaps he truly was insane...

A sudden knock at the door shattered his thoughts instantly. "Mr. Harper, are you ready to fill out these forms, now?"

Kent turned his head towards the door, seeing the face of one of the women in white he saw earlier that day. Her eyebrows were furrowed in anger and her lips formed an unattractive pout, but God how relieved that face made him. "Yes...yes, I'm ready," he replied, shaking his hands dry before eagerly approaching the door.

As the lady in white took hold of his arm once more and led him down the corridor, he felt the manic thoughts from earlier dissipate. He knew he was sane; surely what he experienced was just the medication. I'll have to put in a request for something less...hallucinogenic, he thought, jotting down a mental note.

He approached the same woman and counter he encountered earlier that day, but this time he was ready and willing to check a few boxes and scribble a signature--anything to get away from that strange...occurrence. After he filled the last checkbox, he was led down a different hallway away from his room. "Wait, where are we going?" he asked as his head turned every which way in observance.

"Let's call it a little 'tour'," the female responded. "I have a quick errand to run on the East Wing, so I'm gonna drop you off at the Rec Room for a few minutes." Her eyes gazed fiercely at him as she added, "If you try killing anyone in there, the director won't think twice about putting you in maximum security."

Once they entered the Rec Room, the woman released her hold on Kent's arm as she disappeared down another hallway. Kent stood still, stunned as he took in the pathetic sight. It was a medium-sized room with a few groups of patients scattered about: A small trio stood next to a decrepit foosball table uttering babble to each other. A quiet (and perhaps a little more intelligent) group sat around a table taking turns playing cards. The largest--and most pitiful--group stood still or sat bound in wheelchairs, all of them staring blankly at a small television screen. A few of them had gobs of drool dripping down their chins, causing Kent to wince slightly. After the initial shock subsided, he decided to take a seat close to the card players and silently awaited the woman-in-white's return.

((Um, definitely our first RP. I'm still trying to get the hang of roleplaying. And I'm sorry I take forever in replying. D: I've put my college work at my highest priority and the past couple weeks have been brutal.))

Masy frowned as she started wandering again and eventually ended up going to the Rec Room as well. She was now fully invisible and wandered around the room. She smirked as she saw one male that she knew to be easily set off by her messing with him. She walked up to him and started whispering in his ears "STOP IT!!! SHUT UP!!! LEAVE ME ALONE I-I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO YOU ANYMORE!!!" the man exclaimed suddenly very loudly and Masy snickered some making herself slightly vissible to the man and a few others in the room to set him off even more. She then looked over to Kent as some guards restrained him and he started fighting with them. She looked back at the fighting man and stuck out her tongue at him.

(it's okay I started school again and have been rather busy... sorry it also took me a bit XP I was majorly stuck with this one DX )
