XD;;; Well I know, it was sortof a figure of speech...Meaning, I don't know why people make such a big deal of it...Love is love! I'd be more concerned about someone abusing their "lover" than someone who likes someone with the same genitalia as themselves, personally. >__>;; js.
But oh wait...there are actually people like this... Uhg.

I've run out of gay rants, I think. I threw three or four of them out there and now I'm back to laughing when my straight friends jump into my arms screaming "I AM IN LESBIANS WITH YOU, JOVIE." It's kind of their joke of the year.
I'm cool with it.

xDDD @ monstahh
Jovie: I can rant for HOURS. Indiana is a horrible place to be gay, and unfortunately I have to live here. I can't afford to move just yet. -hoping with all her might that she gets that raise in a few weeks-
Muncie, the town I live in, has roots in the KKK. Outside of the university, its like living in the 1900's. And while gay marriage is ALREADY illegal in this state...
South Bend Tribune: Panel OKs gay marriage ban
...they just thought they would like to reiterate how much they hate us.

That sucks, Hyena. ): I'm sorry.
Up here in Alaska everybody's on drugs. They're like "Yeeeaaahhh man, that's cool, I dig it..." :XD I haven't met anyone who has openly had a problem with anyone being gay or bi.

I'm from NY, so I'm used to people being very progressive about gay marriage.
It's just very sad to see people who are so hateful towards people who just want to be loved just like everyone else.

I think that's kind of a funny statement for Alaska, because when I think of Alaska, I think "Sarah Palin." Though... Sarah Palin would have to be on some kind of stimulants stronger than coffee to say the things she has been saying.
NY is one of two states that will recognize a legal union, but not perform it. The other is Maryland, which was what the Android comment was about. They're pushing to allow the officiation of marriage in their state. I would love to live in a progressive state, but I don't think I could live in NY. That, and I'm trying for a coastal state. OCEAAAAAAANNNNNN!
Yes. It is sad, isn't it? -self pity- ._.
I could even lose my job based on whether or not someone outs me, in some places. Current workplace doesn't care because they don't want a lawsuit, but if I were to work for a small business if would be a big risk.
Whatever. I am SO DONE with the Midwest. Soon as I've saved enough, I'm moving out.

Yeah, but most people I know in many parts of the state, would actually like to push for legalizing it period. >< It just hasn't come up quite yet.

xDDD
I just about fell over. xD
If I said this to anyone who didn't know me, they would call me a sexist pig: I hate women politicians as they appear in the media. Its not because I feel like women can't compete with a man in power, its just that there's this unbridled sense of entitlement that doesn't ring as a leadership quality to me. Exception for Hillary Roddham Clinton: she was a very shrewd candidate. The reason I voted for Obama instead of her is, perhaps, because she was too shrewd. Once we stop using a female candidate as a voting ticket and start looking at the issues they represent, I will start take female politicians seriously.
Of course, that's President candidates. Things are much lower-key in local governments. I can take a female Mayor or Governor seriously because it seems less like "I can win because I'm female," and more "I can win despite the fact that I am."
GENDER-NEUTRALITYYYYYYY!

Exactly Hyena!
I can't take most big-time women politicians seriously because of all the bullshit "oh she's a woman so she must be pro-women's rights and you're obviously anti-women's rights if you don't vote for her" nonsense.
Stop using someone's genitalia as a basis for their beliefs, pl0x.
Personally, I would have liked to see a Hilary/Obama team.
She has the experience, he had the ideas.
I think together they would have been powerful.

They could have been, but it didn't happen. It would have been a nice experiment, if nothing else.
There's always next election. xDD
Speaking of, when I told my dad I was getting married he was concerned. He said that I should wait until Obama's second term because then things are REALLY going to change. And I was like... you are THAT CERTAIN that Obama is going to have a second term? After how many people are mad that he's not a magical black man who can fix everything?

I am in lesbians with this quote because I've been trying to verbalize this in these threads in regards to children and the gays.
Quote:
Today, I was at a restaurant with a friend of mine for lunch.
Two men walked in holding hands. A little girl said to her mom, “Mommy, why are they holding hands?” Her mother replied, “Because they’re in love with each other.”
Our new generation being taught same-sex love is okay GMH.

I think its a little funny that people put the weight on children. If a kid grows up thinking that two men kissing is okay, then they may one day consider dating someone of the same gender! -le gasp!-
And then they'll realize that its not for them and go about their business being straight. That's how I found out I was gay: tried heterosexuality and didn't really get into it. Also, penises are just kinda funny looking. They're all "I'mma impregnate you." And you're all "Really? With THAT thing? But its so CUTE!" Also, generally messier than girlparts. I mean, girlparts have their own mess, but at regular intervals usually and its the sort of thing that can be dealt with. There's a whole market for it!
There's also this argument: "If we allow gays to marry, that means that an older man can marry a younger boy. PEDOPHIIIIIIILE!" Which, at that point, is ridiculous because they forget that for two people to marry they have to be consenting adults. And its no different from older women marrying younger men. Some cougars are hot...
Also this: "If we allow gays to marry, we're only one step away from allowing multiple partners to marry." If you can pull off a threesome in a healthy manner and little to no drama, I give you my blessing. I couldn't do it: I would get jealous very easily. Kudos.
I browse the comments section of the articles to see what dumb excuses people give for voting against gay marriage. It prepares me for arguments in the real world.

Reading the comments on the article in the South Bend Tribune (which hurts me deeply because BOTH my parents worked for that publication for 30 years) I found this and it JUST ANGERED ME:
He actually suggested that to save your life, you should pretend to be something that you're not.

Yes, because lying to yourself and pretending to be something you're not is not known as denial and is not generally considered to be an unhealthy state of mind.
