Soon after the purchase of the lands west of the Mississippi by the American government, a lone soldier is sent into the wild to form an outpost for a group of settlers. Little does he know that he is traveling into deadly territory. The man is captured by Comanche warriors who have vowed to kill all white men in their territory. Before they can reach their camp the Comanche warriors are attacked by a group of Ute hunters who had been tracking the rival tribe hunters.
After killing the other hunters, they decide to keep the white man so he won't get in trouble...Suddenly our soldier finds himself in the middle of a tribe, with no idea what will happen.

Jordan La'Arc
Age:Twenty Five
Appearance: His hair hangs to his shoulders, normally pulled back according to style. As a soldier, he was taken in uniform. Bright blue eyes. Jordan is tall and fairly thin.
Personality: Quick tempered, and very set in his ways, Jordan is quick to point out other's faults. His tounge is sharp, leading him to various fights. As most white men, Jordan holds stigma against the Indians, believing them to be mindless, souless killing machines eager for any scalp.
(Alright. It may be easier if you start us off.)

Chapter 1: Meeting
A lone figure stood out against the mountain overlooking the field near a small Ute village. The figure moved silently through the trees as he spotted what he had been looking for. Putting his fingers on his lips the figure let out a series of bird calls. They were returned by other animal sounds in a few moments the figure was surrounded by other figures. The leader soundlessly signaled his troops toward the field.
In the field there was a small group of Comanche warriors. The figure normally wouldn’t have given the group a second glance, especially since they were heading back to their territory, but they held something in their possession that could lead to disaster for all of the tribes in the area. With a few simple hand gestures the figure and his warriors had surrounded the Comanche. A sharp cry split the air and the Ute warriors rushed out to the field and circled their enemies.
The leader of the Utes, ,Kiyiya stepped forward and addressed the Comanche group. “You are trasspassing on the territory of the Tashunka Tribe. You have stolen from our land and now face death unless you return the item you stole.”
The Comanche leader stood firm and proceeded to insult the surrounding Utes. The Ute leader nodded and the arrows were released into the Comanche group. Kiyiya ran quickly into the fray and searched for the stolen item. He found it tied to a pole once carried by a couple of Comanche men. It was a young man in a blue uniform. He was a pale face and if he had been taken by the Comanche, they all would have been slaughtered.
Kiyiya used his knife to cut the bonds of man and through him over his shoulder. “Tumu, we’re done here, back to the camp.” Kiyiya ran off into the woods, the kachada* over his shoulder.

Occasionally, Jordan would regain counciousness, and would look around groggily. All he could really see, however, was blurry forms. Somehow, he realized the people carrying him were Indians, and was able to mutter a few curses.
It must have been hours later, when a sharp cry woke him. He groaned as his body was dropped, sending a jarring pain through his shoulders, the pole behind him wrenching his hands back. His blue eyes opened slowly, to see one of the Native Americans who had carried him fall in front of his face, an arrow embedded in his chest. The American groaned, his hands getting tugged once again, before being released completely. Jordan turned his head, watching, though he was unable to move. Another man had untied his hands, and a second later, Jordan was tossed over the man's shoulder, and once again fell into black.
A while later, Jordan woke once more, feeling a bit stronger than he had before. Once again, they were moving. "L-lemme go! Dammit, Injun!" He began squirming, and pushing the male's back in an effort to make the male drop him.

Kiyiya dropped the struggling soldier on the ground. He mumbled in the white man’s tongue and Kiyiya dragged him up to his feet.
“Get up kachada! We go back to village now.” Kiyiya struggled to remember the little English that he had learned from the religious men that had come to ‘save’ his people. The soldier was about his age and they stood about the same height. He glared up at the Indian brave and dug his feet into the ground.
“Come now!” Kiyiya huffed in annoyance and picked the man back up like he would a squaw. The brave pulled a leather thong from his small bag and tied the hands of the kachada.

"Hey!" Jordan cried out as he was dropped to the ground andjerked to his feet. His suprise continued as he was spoken too in his tounge. "You...You speak English!" He spoke happily and quickly now. "I need to get home. Understand? HOOOMMMMEEE? V-village?"
His words faltered as he was picked back up and his hands were bound again. He began squirming once more. "Put me down!" He commanded once again.
He feel silent, though continued to try and get down. His situation was setting in. None of the Natives had killed him yet. His hands were still bound though. He was obviously a prisoner. But what use would these people have for him?

Kiyiya could see that the man in his arms was obviously frustrated. He tried to remember the words taught to him. He wanted to tell the man that they had to take him to the main village so he would be safe.
Kiyiya and the other Ute warriors had been tracking the kachada since he had entered the valley four days ago. The soldier had set up a camp and started to build something. The brave assumed it was to be a home for the soldier, but all of that was gone now the Comanche had burned and stolen all of the kachada’s possessions after they kidnapped him.
He turned to his warriors and motioned them on. He planned to stop for a few moments and try to speak with the white man. The brave did not wish for the man to endanger or hurt any of the villagers when they arrived. Kiyiya set the man down gently on a bolder and kneeled next to him so he could look into his eyes. He undid the leather thong but held the wrists of the other man, “Still! You listen.”
“You have no home…the Comanche, other men, they take you and…gootu na kena…” He shook his head frustrated as his limited English failed him. He tried again, “Comanche make gootu, fire, with all white man things. I take you to Tashunka. You safe. Now come.” He stood up and offered a hand to the soldier.

The soldier's mouth hand opened again, and he'd started to yell at the man, though he was set down gently this time. He hesitated, and listened quietly, though it was clear by his expression that Jordan didn't believe a word said to him. "Who are you, then? Why have you taken me, if I'm so safe?"
He shook his head, and stood, though he seemed slightly unsteady. "My home isn't here. I'm making a home for others, more people." The tall male shoved his hands into his pockets, staring at the Native American. "Those other Indians...you killed them...why? They're your kind...why take me and kill them?"

Kiyiya could see the white man was unsteady on his feet and placed a steadying hand his arm. He could feel hard muscle under his hand and really started to look at the man before him. The soldier was quite handsome, thin, but strong with a chiseled jaw line and piercing blue eyes.
The brave put a hand flat to his chest and spoke, “I am called Kiyiya of the Nuciu.* The other tribe kill kachada, you. Braves save you to keep dee-daga, good blood with kachada. This keep the Nuciu safe.”
*The people (I am not making this up, this is actually what the Ute called themselves.)

Jordan shook his head, even as the male steadied him. "Let me get this straight. So, you think because you saved me, my people won't harm you at all?" He raised an eyebrow and shook his head. Indian ways were strange. He stuck his hand out in the manner of his people after debating for a moment. "I'm Jordan La'Arc. Lovely to meet you..." He continued on quickly from there. "Why not just offer a peace treaty?"

“Jor-dan Lark….hmmm…” The brave rolled the name over on his tongue trying to get a feel for it. Kiyiya looked at the hand offered to him and took it in his own. He was puzzled by the gesture, but complied to provided a sense of normalcy for the white man. He snuffed in disgust at the mention of a treaty.
“Treaty not…keep the Nuciu safe. Many tribe gone now because of lies. I keep you safe, we have peace.” The brave motioned to the surrounding trees and a small path leading through the woods, “Come we need to get back to Tashunka. Sun leave soon and wolves come...follow me.”
He headed off to through the forest. Kiyiya could hear the soldier mumble behind him. “Come now or I carry you again like deer.”

Jordan trudged behind the Native, rolling his eyes like he was a small child. "If this is to protect me, why not just give me a horse and send me home? Why are you forcing me to come with you? I don't understand."
The American was soon panting as he tried to keep up. The Native's moved much faster than he did normally, and it seemed to be a normal way for them, since none of them were panting. As they moved, Jordan found himself studying Kiyiya. The man's skinned was dark, and tanning from the sun seemed to make it even darker. The deerskin pants interested the American. They were supple, moving easily with the male. However, they were also beautiful, and when they passed a patch of thorns, he could see how well they worked, since they brushed the plants aside, where Jordan got stuck and his pants tore a bit. "H-how much further is this village?"

“Horse is for Brave during time of war and for plowing fields for harvest, not for kachada…” Kiyiya ignore the next question from Jordan and kept walking towards the main village. ‘When would he understand that his home is far behind him…’ The brave longed to be rid of the pesky white man…when they got to the village he would pass the kachada off to his chief and let the ruler deal with him. He shook his head in disgust at the sound of Jordan’s panting. ‘Luckily we are in Nuciu territory, or we would have been spotted by how loud that man breathes.’ He heard the soldier’s next question and stopped.
“Not far JordanLark…Tashunka is in the next valley,” Kiyiya stopped and pointed to the sky at the sun, “When great father sinks over the hill we will be in Tashunka.” Kiyiya rested for a moment so that the white man could catch his breath. This gave the brave time to truly study the man called Jordanlark. His light hair had slipped from his tie at his neck and his pale skin was flushed from exertion. Jordan’s bright blue eyes reminded the brave of the egg of the bird for which the man was named.
“Here Jordanlark, drink and rest…we continue after a little time…” Kiyiya handed the soldier his gourd full of water.

The male eagerly took the gourd and drank eagerly. He plopped unto the ground, leaning against a tree. Jordan lifted his hands, and fixed his hair quickly, his eyes returning to the Indian. He lifted the gourd back up, handing it back. "Just Jordan. La'Arc is my last name. So, please, just call me Jordan."
He waited for another moment, viewing the male distrustfully. "So why must I go with you, if I wish to go?"

Kiyiya nodded and took back his gourd, “Jordan…” The brave chose his next words carefully. He did not want to scare the soldier, but Kiyiya wanted the kachada to truly understand how much danger he was in.
He sighed in anger and sat next to the soldier, “You cannot go back to your HOME because, it is gone. Comanche burnt it all, next they kill you! If the Comanche kill you all Native people suffer in this region. The white men come and kill us all. They no listen to talks of peace…I have seen this before. I will not let you hurt my people.”
The brave stood trying to swash his anger at the ignorant white man. “Get up, we must keep moving.”

"What happened to rest?" Jordan grumbled, though he stood with a sigh. Once again he began plodding on. "Am I considered a captive?" He questioned finally. He at least wanted to know where he stood with the Indians before he had to face more of them.

Kiyiya didn’t stop, but slowed down so he was walking beside the soldier instead of in front of him. “You’ll learn to walk the land better with time…we are expected at the village soon…”
The brave sneered at the word captive. “The Nuciu do not take slaves. You are a honored guest of the tribe.” Kiyiya started to see the smoke from the great fire. He stopped the white man and gestured towards the skyline pointing out the black smoke. “Come Jordan, we are near Tashunka. You will be welcomed with a feast.” The brave started walking faster his excitement building. His men were afew yards away from him and he could tell they were excited to be returning to their home as well. They had spent the last week in the wild scouting for the soldier, if he only knew how much trouble they had gone through to keep him safe.

Jordan's head had snapped around. With time? Surely they didn't expect him to actually stay there, did they? Regardless, if the town he'd been from had been destroyed, there were plenty of other white settlements he could go to...
He paused in his thinking as the smoke was pointed out, and glanced around, taking in the Indian's excitement. Strange folk these were. He wasn't being treated as a slave, Jordan supposed, though when he was given an order it was clear he was expected to obey. What exactly was he? It didn't seem as if he was an honored guest...

The still air was filled with the whoops and yells of the ute men as they spotted the smoke. Kiyiya let a small smile curve his lips upward at the thought of returning home. The group of men walked around a small outcropping of rock and the village was laid out before them.
There were large teepee’s formed in a large horse shoe around a large fire pit. A group of women and children rushed forward at the sight of the returning braves. Each of the men opened their arms to welcome either a wife or a sister, all accept Kiyiya… His once bright smile fell at the sight of his scouts greeting their families. He headed off to a brightly dressed elder and placed his hand on his own chest in a greeting.

Jordan followed along, much quieter than the warriors who greeted their loved ones. Since Kiyiya didn't have a female rush to greet him, he followed the male he'd spoken with. He waited patiently as the warrior greeted a male. Perhaps in Indian culture, having a man for a lover was acceptable, and this was Kiyiya's. It would explain the absence of a woman. Strangely, though, Jordan found he was slightly disappointed. Why, he wasn't quite sure. In his society, it was an extreme taboo to love another man, and he'd never been attracted to one before. Hadn't actually been attracted to anyone to be honest. So why the tinge of disappointment?
Finally, Jordan stepped forward, holding his hand out for a handshake. "Hallo. I'm Jordan La'Arc. Are you the man in charge, then?"

The elder of the tribe did not take the offered hand instead he turned to his brave and spoke in the native tongue. “So this is the kachada that has caused all the uproar between the tribes. Tell him I am glad that he is safe and welcome him into our village.”
Kiyiya turned and faced Jordan. “This is our chief Asihi-waneei. He is glad that you have arrived safely at Tashunka and welcomes you to the tribe. He doesn’t speak any kachada so I will speak for you to him…”

Jordan glanced between the two males for a moment, before nodding. "Uhm...thank you. Tell him I'm grateful for the hospitality, and hopefully I won't be...a burden much longer." He let his hand drop and shifted nervously, glancing about. Already, he could see so many differances between how they lived and how he lived.

Kiyiya explained the Jordan’s words to his uncle. The older chief nodded. “He is no burden on the tribe and we hope to learn much from him. Kiyiya you will house him in your tepee and teach him our ways. This kachada will learn of our people and tell his people of our goodness.” The last part was spoken to the whole tribe that had gathered around to look at the soldier. The women of the tribe gathered their children close and the braves sized him up.
Kiyiya gritted his teeth when his uncle ordered that Jordan was to live with him. He turned and translated his uncles words to Jordan. He hoped that the soldier wouldn’t do anything foolish…

The white man clearly wasn't pleased, though he didn't say anything. Merely shoved his hands into his pockets and looked away, grimicing. He would find his own way home then, when everyone was asleep. Simply borrow a horse.
Eventually, he looked back to the group and nodded. "Thank you." He waited a bit more, unsure of what to say or do. He didn't want to be around these people, even Kiyiya with his piercing eyes, and exotic skin. Finally Jordan looked back, his eyes lingering on the male he'd just thought about. "Perhaps, if it's not too much trouble, I could go to the...teepee? Now, so I could rest some?"
