"Don't blame me," Margaret protested. "It'll be the fourth time this week we nearly died, I don't want that."

"Yeah, but you brought it up," Aleron said. She was about to say something else when a loud caw overhead made her freeze.

Margaret froze, too, and glanced upward slowly. She wasn't entirely sure what she would find, and was fairly sure she'd jinxed them.

Aleron swore softly when she looked up and saw something large and blue-ish flying overhead. "I think that would be one of yours."

Margaret saw it and nodded.

"It is indeed," she replied. Going over to the icy egg, she moved aside the blanket a little. "Wrong shade of blue, though. This isn't Articuno's. So let's pray it doesn't see us and also decide to kill us."

"Yeah, that would suck." Aleron paused for a moment, looking between the bird pokemon in the sky and the icy egg.

"You don't think the other legendaries would try to attack one another's eggs, do you?"

"I don't know," Margaret replied. It was a scary thought. "That would be like declaring war, wouldn't it? Or committing suicide. Or both."

"I don't know." Aleron frowned. "I hope they don't try. Because, really, what could we do?"

"Hope we don't die?" Margaret suggested. "I think the best we can do for now is try to return the eggs we found. After that, well... maybe we'll find the others."

"Yeah." Aleron sighed. "I guess we just have to do what we can and hope for the best."

"Right," Margaret replied. She watched as Articuno circled a couple of times, and then flew off again. "Who knows if it'll come back..."

"I fervently hope not." Aleron sighed.

"Hopefully," Margaret agreed. Opening her bag, she pulled out her bedroll and laid it out. "I'm going to get comfortable."

"Same." Aleron pulled out her own bedroll and got as comfortable as she could manage, looking up at the sky.

Margaret grinned.

"Let's see if I can properly tempt fate," she said. She cleared her throat dramatically. "With our luck, tonight will be completely and utterly normal and near-death-free."

Aleron started laughing at that, tipping her head back. "Well, that should keep us safe."

"If I'm going to jinx us, I'm going to do it right," Margaret said. "May as well cover all the bases."

"Yeah, really. Much better than jinxing us to see all sorts of things that want to kill us." Aleron shrugged.

"Don't say that," Margaret said. "Tempting fate, remember?"

"I'm not tempting fate," Aleron said quickly. "I don't tempt fate. Most of the time." She shook her head. "I should probably just stop now."

Margaret grinned and settled in. Espeon was still cuddled up with Jolteon, and Metagross was still stubbornly levitating above the sand, but Exeggute was settled comfortably near the fire, along with Natu.

Vulpix trotted over to lay on top of Aleron and keep her warm, and the two dozed off quickly.

By the time the sun rose, Aleron didn't want to get up. But she did anyway, starting to clean everything up so they could get going again.

Margaret would have slept later, but the sunlight in her face prevented that. Grumbling something about turning the sun off, she got up and started putting her things away.

Aleron snickered. "Hey, you slept later than I did," she pointed out. "It's not that bad."

"It burns my eyes," Margaret joked as she gathered her things.
