"Oh hush," Margaret replied. "At least Starmie would be able to take care of it, since Houndour are part fire." Sitting down on her cot, she released her pokemon. "You know..." she said after a moment, "I think pokemon centers have pools in them, for trainers with water-types. Maybe you could go find it and see if your Gyarados wants anything to eat."

"Hm. I think you're right." Aleron got up. "You two, wait here." And she moved away to go find the pool.

It turned out that Gyarados fit. But just barely.

Margaret kept an eye on Aleron's two pokemon alongside her own. Once her own were taken care of, she carefully opened her bag and uncovered the egg. She kind of just wanted to look at it for a while. It was still kind of surreal that they really had a Mew egg to look after.

Aleron came back after she'd given Gyarados some food, hand-feeding her other two as well. She glanced at the egg.

"Well. We'll be really used to eggs by the end of this, huh?"

"No kidding," Margaret replied. She looked at the little lilac egg. "It's smaller than the others we've seen," she commented. "And I'm not sure if I'm just going crazy, but... it's kind of humming, sort of. It's weird, kinda like in the back of my head."

"I'm pretty sure that's all you," Aleron said with a shrug. "But hey, you could be right. Maybe I just can't hear it yet." She shrugged again and settled down.

"Well... Mew is psychic," Margaret pointed out. "Maybe that's why." She glanced down at the egg before covering it up again and closing her bag.

"That is true," Aleron agreed mildly. "Well. I suppose we'll see as time goes on. For however long we have it, at least." She shook her head.

"Yeah," Margaret agreed. She grinned. "Hey, who knows, a baby Mew might be absolutely adorable." She glanced out the window and sighed. "I hate that we upset Mewtwo, though. I kind of understand WHY he was upset, but still."

"Yeah. I know." Aleron shrugged. "You can never please everyone. It's an inescapable fact in life." She'd given up on trying to please others a while ago.

"Still, I kind of feel bad, like I should have known better," Margaret said. "And I kind of did know better. There's this file, the one I said I want to get my hands on back in Saffron, about an experiment that was done before they decided to do the affinity research. They were trying to find a way to bring back the extinct Mew species, by cloning fossilized DNA. The file has all the information that they had on Mew and the experiment." She kind of hoped that the rest of the 'tale' was self-explanatory.

Aleron blinked before her eyes widened. "Oooooh," she said quietly. "I see. Well, that would be kind of a sore spot, I guess." She grimaced.

"Yeah," Margaret replied. "I don't know all the fine details, which is why I want the file, but that's the general overview that I got when I cracked the file a few years back." She gestured to her bag. "But when a Mew egg suddenly showed up... I can imagine that was kind of hurtful."

Aleron nodded her agreement. "Yeah. I would be kind of pissed, too, if I were him." She sighed. "But what can we do, you know?"

"I know..." Margaret said. "Still..." She went quiet for a moment. "And it's not the best idea in the world to have such a powerful pokemon angry with you for any reason," she added.

"Oh trust me, I know." Aleron sighed. "I dunno. Maybe we'll find some way to placate him later on." For now, she just wanted to keep moving and see what all they could find out.

"Maybe," Margaret said. Still... she couldn't help but glance out the window every so often, as if Mewtwo would be outside waiting for them like before.

Aleron managed to settle in for the night, not asleep yet but just getting comfortable. Vulpix curled up in front of her, while Jolteon stretched out between the two cots.

Margaret managed to settle in with only Espeon on the cot with her. Exeggcute and Natu settled themselves on top of Metagross, and Starmie leaned against one of the steel-type's massive legs so that everyone was comfortable.

The next day, Aleron got up earlier than normal, getting breakfast first. Then she went back to the pokemon center to wait for Margaret.

At some point during the night, the egg had made its way from Margaret's bag to Margaret's cot, and the trainer was curled up around it even as her feet were pinned down by the Espeon draped across her ankles. Oddly, the 'trio' looked perfectly comfortable with the arrangement. The rest of Margaret's pokemon were up and about, and Starmie was outside with Natu and Exeggcute, giving them a bit of a shower. The two chattered and hopped about happily as they were sprinkled with water.

Aleron shook her head, amused. She just stayed there, letting Vulpix and Jolteon go check on Gyarados before they came back to ask for breakfast. She fed them patiently, thinking about the best way to get where they needed to be.

Naomi woke up a few minutes later. It took her a moment or two to realize that she was holding the Mew egg, and when she did, she blinked.

"How did this get here?" she wondered aloud.

Aleron snorted. "You probably either grabbed it in your sleep or it levitated. Because, honestly, I would not be surprised if that egg could do that."

She got up and stretched. "Now that you're awake, let's get going. You wanted to get more information on Mewtwo, right?"

"I wouldn't surprise me, either," Margaret replied as she put the egg back into her bag and got up. "Five minutes so I can change, and then we can leave."
