Trent mumbled something and rolled over, away from the shaking and nudging. It was still way too early, in his opinion. They never got up early if they had actual shelter for the night.

Quen rolled his eyes and beconed to Murkrow, who was all too happy to hop over and sit on Trent.

Trent promptly choked a bit as he got a face full of black feathers and sat up quickly.

"Honestly, what was that for?" he asked as he rubbed his eyes and tried to see if there was any Murkrow left on him.

"You weren't getting up, and I did warn you." Quen grinned. "Plus apparently a tree almost fell in the pond, and we've been invited to stay a few more days."

Trent blinked as his brain tried to sort through the three seemingly-unrelated pieces of information.

"A tree fell in the pond?" he asked finally. After a moment's pause, he added, "It didn't fall on Blastoise, did it? He doesn't like things falling on him like that."

"I think we'd have heard by now if it had." Quen shrugged. "I don't hear him raging outside, so I'd guess not. Margaret said her Metagross was going to move the tree."

"Alright, cool," Trent said. "So... we were invited to stay?" Now he was onto the more important bits of information.

"Yeah." Quen shrugged. "Margaret said we could stay for a bit and see how things usually go around here if we wanted." And he had to admit, he was intrigued.

Trent was intrigued, as well.

"Could be interesting," he offered after a moment or so. "What do you think?"

Quen nodded. "I think so, too. I'm curious about all these legendaries." He grinned briefly. "And I know you are too."

"Well, yeah," Trent replied, grinning a bit. "Anyone would be." Getting up, he stretched and slipped on his shoes. "First, though, I'm going to go for a swim and see how well everyone weathered the storm last night."

"You do that." Quen snorted. "I'm going to take a look around, start exploring this place." Because he hadn't done that yet, and now that he basically had permission, he wanted to.

"Alrighty," Trent said. "I'll make sure Sharpedo is all set while I'm out there." With that, he headed outside to see what was going on.

Quen also headed out, taking a look around the farm and just getting to know how things were set up.

Aleron was sitting on top of Metagross, making sure he dropped the tree in a safe spot. Then she grinned.

"Awesome. Thanks, Metagross. I'll scrub you down later."

Metagross rumbled at her, and Margaret grinned from the sidelines.

"He says he'll hold you to it," she translated. "He spent the night in the egg cave, he's got sand in his joints again. He itches." She glanced over as she translated, and raised an eyebrow when she saw Trent. "Now where's he going?"

Aleron blinked and swiveled around from where she sat on Metagross to watch Trent. "I dunno," she said, just as curious. But she wasn't about to get down. She'd discovered she liked sitting on Metagross, and he didn't seem to mind. Especially if he got a scrubbing out of it.

Margaret blinked as she watched Trent strip down to a pair of shorts, climb up onto Blastoise's back, and jump into the pond.

"Interesting," she commented.

As soon as Trent hit the water, he relaxed and took a breath. That was one thing only his brother knew about him: his affinity had progressed to the point that he could not only understand his pokemon, but he could breathe underwater with them, too. So he used the skill to its fullest and went swimming with his group. He did, however, notice both Red and what had to be Margaret's Starmie in the pond, as well.

Red took note of the strange human, deciding to tell his trainer later. Because as much as he complained about her, Aleron wasn't bad. Especially not after hearing some stories from some of the others. He kept his distance to watch the male trainer, though, just observing for now.

Not that he actually blended in, though.

"Hey, Red," Trent greeted as he went by. Red might not have liked him much, but Lady was already waiting for him. Trent had raised Lady from a Magikarp, after all; that didn't happen without some measure of affection. Duchess was there, as well, indulgently tolerating Wooper swimming around her. Poliwrath and Lombre were in the marginally warmer shallows with Blastoise.

The Starmie at resting at the bottom of the pond, though, seemed to be asleep. The large red jewel pulsed steadily, mimicking the rhythm of a human heartbeat. Trent had to admit, that made his estimation of Margaret go up a little, since she didn't force her Starmie out if its natural sleep cycle. Once he'd taken note of that, he looked around for Sharpedo.

Red just snorted at him and moved away a little to go watch the others warily. He still wasn't used to sharing with others besides Starmie, who had proven to be trustworthy and an almost-friend.

Sharpedo swam over to Trent, swimming in a few circles around him. Clearly he'd enjoyed the stormy weather.

"Hey, you," Trent greeted Sharpedo. "I told Quen I'd check on you while I was out here. Ride out the storm okay?" As he spoke, he swam around the pokemon, checking for general bumps and bruises. "You didn't bother Red or that Starmie, did you? Apparently the psychic-girl here gets twitchy around dark-types, so you never know if her pokemon are the same."

Sharpedo snorted. He'd done nothing of the sort. That red Gyarados was too snarly to be fun, and too wary. And the Starmie had just sort of stayed at the bottom during the storm, probably to better weather it out. But he'd liked the waves and things; it reminded him of the ocean.

"Right, that's what I thought," Trent commented. He grinned a bit. "Promise, once we get to Johto, I'll nag Quen about going to the beach once or twice. All the ocean you can handle."

Sharpedo nudged Trent on his way past before he went to go find something else to do for a while. He knew Trent was busy, after all.

And Red was starting to get kind of upset about the freaky human that could breathe underwater and was in his lake.

As soon as Red started getting twitchy, Lady got in front of him and told him, in no uncertain terms, that Trent was her human and no pretty, uppity Gyarados was going to touch him without going through her first.

She was only a little protective, really.
