Try to think of something that's Latin-based but that Romans didn't actually use, like Paedor (best as an antagonist's name lol), or Lupus, or something. I would advise it not resemble English.

Hi, peurky! The Books forum is for already published works. But we've got a forum just for the works of our own users, so I've moved this over to the forum dedicated to help on stories. :)

Now, to answer your question... Something interesting to note with name popularity is that names that seem fresh and current are actually quite old, and often Biblical. After a name goes out of style for a while, it becomes "new" again and then gets a resurgence in popularity. Sometimes the names are even applied to the opposite genders! Did you know Ashley and Courtney used to be most commonly used for boys? Anyway, the point I'm making here is that when coming up with "futuristic" names, it's common to just make something up, but if you want to go super realistic, try picking a name that doesn't get much use anymore. Another thing would be foreign names. As cultures converge and mix together, the joining culture's names tend to be absorbed. We get names like Kevin and Sean (Shane) from the Irish!
