*licks face too* ...Hm, not bad. :drool: *draws circles on Iku's face with pudding* :P
They're pretty easy to make...just buy some of the fish, clean out the organs and stuff, pour some rice wine into it so it wouldn't have that fish smell in it, add some rosemary or other type of herb, some salt, pepper, etc. etc., toss them into an oven, bake it, and voila! It's done. :boogie:
Is there such a thing as cinnamon pudding? o.O;; I'd like to try it if there is. xD
*draws cat whiskers on Iku's face XDDD*
Really? o.o;;
Most fish have their insides cleaned out when you buy them at the supermarket...but the Pacific-whatsis are a bit smaller, so I guess they don't bother. But it isn't too hard...just cut a slit down its belly, reach inside, and grab whatever squishy-ness you can feel and wrench them all out before rinsing the body out with some water. XD
I'm not sure if its meat is white or red...<_< >_>;;;
@Diamond: Thanks! Running around nekkid is teh fashion around here! *dances* I'd go around nekkid too, except I don't think anyone needs to see those zombie bits dangling in the air, so....o 3o;;;
@Dan-san: Haha. I found a recipe for cinnamon pudding cake. Aaand some more for mocha-cinnamon. They all sound interesting. I'd probably try it though. :drool:
o wo -meows and licks 'paws'-
Haha yeah. I was just never really... made to do it. We used to go fishing and so we'd have to clean those out, but I never had to. -shudders- So icky. :lol: At least they aren't too big. I was reading about them on Wiki. It's also known as Mackerel Pike, which sounds a bit more familiar to me. I think I've seen them in cans at the store.
I want some grilled.. :eager:
Hmm... looks like something out of a horror movie..
@Liquid: lmaowtf! I thought they were more interested in eating brains and flesh, not spongy...bits.......
@Iku: Wow. Now I'm craving for something cinnamon more than ever. :gonk: Need to go shopping at a supermarket again some time...
Hm, well damn Wikipedia. :( I Googled '秋刀魚' first, then clicked on 'English' and that led me to the Pacific-thingy. :(
I don't like cleaning out fish either...those little bones always stab me in my fingers as revenge for cleaning out their host's body parts! :cry:
And ew @ that picture...
It's fine. I wasn't saying it's wrong. It gave you the correct term. :yes: Mackerel Pike is just another name. =3
Have you ever eaten a bone? :gonk: Whenever my mom cleaned out fish, Tilapia exactly, she would still tell me to be careful when I ate it because there might be bones leftover. XD
Yeah... doesn't make it look appealing. At least they don't need to be scaled. P:
...Oh, damn those fish and their multiple names then. :lol:
I've eaten fish bones loads of times. :XD Not the best sensation to go through...my poor throat...:headdesk:
Most of the fish I eat have bones in them. Like, 95% of the time. We just pick the bones out as we eat. :P Tilapia's pretty tasty, even though I don't often eat it thanks to my parents brainwashing me about how they're supposedly dirty because they feed off on other fish's poo. (<-- Just in case I unintentionally spoil your appetite during future Tilapia eatings...:sweat:)
Yeah. :XD I hate choking on those missed scales. :XD
I'm so glad I've never gotten any bones stuck in my throat. :gonk: Just chewed on them a few times.
Most of the fish I buy or eat have the bones taken out already. Well... I mostly eat salmon too so... XD It's either Salmon or Tuna.
Lmao! Thanks for that. They say that about Catfish too. My brothers used to make fun of me for having Catfish as my favorite fish to eat because they were bottom-feeders. But now I rarely eat it and Tilapia just because I prefer Salmon. :lol:
I don't mind scaling... I must upgrade my cooking skill and gut a fish!
I usually find out about the bones too late...mainly, while they're half-stuck in my throat. x__x;; Drinking lots of water or swallowing a mouthful of food usually gets rid of it, but I've heard that it can be dangerous because the food might force the bone to pierce through your throat instead. Some guy had the bone poked into the neck muscles after swallowing a big mouthful of rice when he felt the bone in his throat...it missed his artery by about three millimeters.
Oh, big fish sometimes have their bones removed before you buy them. XD My family usually buys smaller fish, around the size of Tilapias...so their bones are all still inside unless we scrape the flesh off before cooking or something. >_>;;
My favorite's salmon, but I like them raw...xDDDD My favorite type of cooked fish are Yellow Croakers and bass, amongst others...but I haven't had any croakers in ages because they've been so over-hunted, it's rare to be able to catch any anymore. :(
Scaling's fun, I just worry that I'd miss some of those scales and then they come back and bite me in my ass...well, not ass, bite me in my throat later on. x__x; Or accidentally scrape my fingers off while scaling the knife on the fish. XD;
@Gov: What did you eat? :O
Lawl. Eating too much rice without other foods to balance it out makes you constipated...
@Dan-san: Oh gosh. D: That's crazy.. -covers throat-
If there's a chance of bones, I just try and chew extra thoroughly.
:yes: That's another reason I like them. xP
Haaha. Salmon is still my favorite when raw too. It's basically my favorite overall~
Yellow Croakers... sounds like a frog. -looks them up- Whoa they are yellow.. XDD And kind of round.
Bass like Sea Bass?
Aww. Poor over-hunted Croakers. :(
It's been so long since I've scaled a fish. It's kind of weird that I remember exactly where I was and how I was doing it too... o Ao Must have been an important moment in my life. xP
Yeah. I usually chew very carefully, but sometimes when I'm starving I forget and just swallow everything after three or four chomps. :sweat:
lmao! Yeah, it does sound like some sort of frog. :XD The meat is so tender and soft and yummy...:drool: I guess it's because they're so delicious and popular that they're hunted so badly...:( The fish got smaller and smaller over the years, and now we rarely ever see them in the markets anymore.
I have no idea what the kind of bass I eat are called...there are so many types of bass! :XD I guess a rough translation would be something like, 'seven-star bass'?
I think I scaled a fish about half a year ago...my mom was teaching me how to cook a fish so I wouldn't starve to death on my own someday. :XD
Ooh. Well hopefully their numbers go back up and then you can have moore~ And I can try it. :lol:
Oh yeah, there are lots of bass.... oops. That one looks kind of pretty.
I scaled one about... 8-9 years ago. At a friend's house.
I should visit my mom and tell her to teach me how to cook a fish. > A>;
I can eat like a crazy zombie met with brains when hungrily motivated. :P
Yeah. :XD We can go Croaker-eating together someday! When/If their numbers go up again.....
:drool: Yep...it tastes a bit like the Croaker, but the meat is not as tender or juicy...but still very delicious. :drool: I need to convince my dad to buy a couple the next time we go shopping, he doesn't like buying fish because he thinks it's too much of a bother to cook them. :XD
Whoa, I love themed restaurants! :eager: I think I've been to a few, like a fairy-tale one while celebrating a friend's birthday, an underwater one (not really...just the walls that are painted blueish and decorated with lots of fish, decorations with jars of sand and shells around, etc...), etc. etc...Gotta love the atmosphere. :heart:
:lol: With our luck they'd go extinct~
Ooh~ Haha, I'm with your dad. -lazy-
But if you're the one cooking then... :eager:
I used to buy frozen salmon filets, but the only ones I can find now have a bunch of salmon filets all frozen together in the vacuum packaging. And they're too big for me to eat in one sitting. Maybe I just have to expand my search...
Fairytale oooh~ And underwater! I want to gooo. -pouts-
I've only been to one themed restaurant I think. And it's like a jungle err... rainforest. :lol:
It's called the Rainforest Cafe. There's aquariums around (which now seems a bit out of place..) and fake animals and shrubs/vines, and a fake thunderstorm that happens every so often. It gets dark and there's fake thunder and lightning and then mist. :lol:
lol! Sorry, it was the first thing that came to mind thanks to this month's CIs...:XD
Oh no! That'd be bad, we won't have any more croakers to eat years later then! :XD
I could, I just have no guarantee that the fish won't come out half-cooked-half-raw or charred...:ninja:;;;
You could eat one at a time, and keep the rest still frozen in the freezer? :O
Whoa, that themed restaurant looks way more awesome than any of the ones I've ever been to. :shock: It looks amazing! I'd love to be surrounded by trees and animals and out-of-place aquarium tanks! :eager: I might jump when the thunders take me by surprise though. :lol:
That would be bad. D:
Lmao! At least you would have tried. Mine are usually overcooked because I'm afraid of under cooking them. xP
Well they're all in the package together; so if I open it... the on the package is broken. And they're usually stuck together so I don't know if I could pull them apart... Hmm. I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be. :lol: But there are some frozen ones that are packaged individually. I just need to buy them at the other store.
Haha. XDD
Yeah it's pretty neat. I'd actually like it more if it stayed dimly lit, but it's pretty um... well-lit.
The last one I went to was super crowded (it was the one near Disney World in Orlando) so that was a bit of a bummer (because of the noise and constant hustle and bustle) but we were sitting right next to one of the tanks so it was like our own little enclosure. :lol: And the fish kept us entertained.
^^ My mom and sister went to one in Illinois. They named a fish Bucky, because it had buck-teeth. T'was funny. They, of course, left me out of this little trip. So nice. But it was a cute story.
@Lea: XDD I went to my first one in Tennessee with my stepmom and half-brother. I enjoyed it a lot so I try to find one whenever we go places. :yes:
Bucky sounds cute. xD I vaguely remember seeing a fish with buck-teeth, but it might have been at an aquarium instead.
Wait, so you haven't gone to one? D:
lol, I usually over-cook too, after that one instance where I under-cooked some cabbage. :XD Hope you don't mind dry fish~ :P
Oh...:O;; Uh...get zip-lock bags or some other form of bag to separate them all? ...Even if that sounds really troublesome ro do...:sweat:
...:o I guess it's a rainforest on a bright sunny day (despite the thunder and lightning)? :XD
Oh, yeah. Amusement park restaurants are nearly always packed full. :headdesk: I remember waiting with my friends for nearly half an hour before we finally got to place out orders...one of our friends had gone off on a roller coaster ride while the rest of us were in line. :XD
...Fish could have buck teeth? :shock: I never knew...
And sorry to hear that they didn't bring you along for the trip. :( I hate getting left behind.
No, I've never been to one. I begged and begged every time we went somewhere with one, and the answer was always "Maybe another time". So the year I move out, my mom and my sister decided to go school shopping at Gurney Mills in Illinois -- a huge mall that has a Rainforest Cafe -- and didn't invite me. And of course, that's the year they decided to eat there. This thing is kind of typical.
Oh well, though. One day I'll get there and find a Bucky of my own. :illgetu:
@Dan-san: Haha. I'll add some uh... sauce. P:
XD!! That's probably easier than anything else. -ponders-
Well, there's usually lots of kids there too and I'm sure everyone wants to see their meal and each other.
Yesss. :gonk: Gone to ride a roller coaster. XD
Speaking of which. I am determined to go to the amusement park this weekend! :illgetu:
