I'm incredibly interested in doing an apocalyptic RP with you. After reading through your checklist of things that you're looking for, I think that I fit into all of those. The only thing I was slightly confused over was the real pictures? Do you mean for our characters, rather than say, an anime picture?

I haven't done an apocalyptic RP in a while, but they're probably my favourite RP to play.

I'd be more than happy to do something post apocalyptic with you (preferably not virus related as I may be in one like that soon - obviously). If you want it to be a sort of romantic one... it could be a couple surviving together or some such. Heh, the gun-loving couple from tremors just popped into my mind.
Your long distance relationship with a poltergeist plot looks rather interesting as well though.

Ooh. Yes, I mean pictures of real people, if pictures are used in the profile. It's a personal preference. I can deal with drawings or anime images... they're really not very appealing to me though. They can be so... flat.

Oh, I’m more than okay with sci-fi. I haven’t read or seen much of it personally but if the plot interests me then I’m sure I’ll be fine.
It doesn’t have to involve zombies, it’s just something I’m fairly comfortable with. I really like zombies. However, it is the survival aspect that I really like. Along with a lot of death. I can deal with there not being a lot of death… I guess that’s also just something I’m more comfortable with. It’s always good to go out of your comfort zone though. (: So propose away.

Oh, and just a question that barely has to do with anything: Have you ever read BioMeat? I think it could be considered a sci-fi manga, even though it’s mainly horror. It popped into my mind and I was simply curious. I haven’t met anyone who has read it.

Hmm… perhaps some sort of war turning into a nuclear war? That could be quite apocalyptic. Not sure how many would survive… emergency bomb shelters? Obviously not many would be left.

Well the idea that I have is sort of a cross between the 'Y2K Problem' and what people expect to happen on the 21st of December 2012. If you're not really familiar with either of those it's basically just a disintegration of the digital world and the earth at the same time.

The RP would start out normally to get us into the story, but soon little things would happen that suggests something isn't right, and then quickly we get into the action and the mayhem that comes with a dying planet. (xD) With no digital assistance, freak weather (picture snow in the Sahara) and unstable ground, the whole planet is quickly brought down into that "every man for himself" mentality.

This plot probably works better with more than one character, so would you be up for having two characters each? One male and one female per person? Then we could just split other characters dialogue between us.

Like I said, that is a [i]very[/] half-baked plot idea and does need a lot of tweaking. But that was my basic idea. Y2K has always been something that interested me, but no-one's ever wanted to play an RP based off of that before xD

And no, sorry, I haven't even heard of BioMeat ^^;

Hmm.. So little things like… internet not working for parts of the world for ‘x’ amount of time… sort of flickering… then just shutting down? Followed by something more panic causing like all the car alarms going off and most electricity shutting down (excluding generators - I could see a lot of fighting over generators)?
Would this be set present day or in December of 2012 or…?

@ Uppers: Hmm, yeah… That was what was sort of troubling me with the idea.
There could always be the chance that the radiation hasn’t hit the /whole/ world… or that the people running around now are risking the chance of mutating… sort of in a The Hills Have Eyes way.

Hmm… we could go an alien invasion rout.
Or something more conspiracy focused with a ‘secret organization’ wiping out most of the world for some reason or another. Perhaps they’re dealing with the war in their own way. Selecting certain individuals to repopulate the world and killing everyone else.

I like the alien invasion one a lot. Maybe a group of survivors are trying to build an underground society in order to defeat/find the aliens weakness.

But what would the aliens look like and why are they invading earth in the first place?

That would be interesting. (:

We could go stereotypical with their appearance. Or make them appear like a mutated form of some animal/creature we know on earth (my thoughts stray to Zoidburg from Futurama). Hmm… or perhaps the body snatchers rout. There are a lot of possibilities here. I’d say my favourite would be along the lines of an alien similar to Independence Day (I like the idea of them communicating in a non-verbal way), or body snatchers (hive mind is freaky as fuck).

Um… as for why… well, resources are the first thing that comes to mind. Maybe they’re over populated. Perhaps… humans have infringed on their territory somehow and they’re cheesed off because of it. Or humans didn’t pass the test which would include us into some sort of space government and we’re being wiped out for being lesser beings/destroying our planet. I don’t really have a preference with the why.

The test thing reminds me of Hitchhikers Guide the the Galaxy :D.

What if they simply destroyed their home and are looking for a new one, like in Tera?

Well… if they’re a large (or even small… ) mutated bird type aliens, then sure. I suppose they could also have some sort of advanced mind telekinesis thing… I’m partial to a physical feature being the reason for them being able to do things like fly or swim under water for a long time.
Are they one species and have a variety of different appearances or are there multiple species of aliens with different appearances? Or just one main appearance?
With the idea of flying a harpy comes to mind.

That's what I wasn't sure on. I don't think that it should be set in 2012 because people will just assume that it's to do with "the end of the world" I was thinking around 2002 2003. That way, it's after Y2K so no-one would become suspicious, and there is a gap between 2012 so no-one would try to use that as an excuse.

Aftermath would actually be an amazing reference for this... it's all thought experiment-y about different ways the world would react to certain things happening like oil drying up or electricity just disappearing.
