First off- im not rassist againt anyone
the main problem is my boyfreinds job. He loves his job and has been working there for about a year and a half. However a few months ago his job establishment found out the they could have their lisence revoked if they did not hire a person of a differnet nationality (they were currently all white). My boyfreind does a specalized job that he was trained for and not just anyone off the street can work at his job.

His company hired a black man and at first it was perfectly normal that the guy didnt work as fast or know his way around the machinery. However now MONTHS LATER he is still the exact same way. He doesnt pay attention nor care about his work. and he gets paid MORE mony than my boyfreind who has been working ther longer and harder.

In addtion to this, there have been several instances where the STATE has caught this guy on the clock not working. but the company cant fire him because its legal required that they have him because of his race!

I wouldnt mind if the guy got paid more if he worked more or at least as hard as everyone else, i dont even care about his race. but he is putting people at the company endanger becuase of his lazyness by not doing his job correctly (they work around machinery)

At the moment the company is all mad and him but they cant do anything about it. They schedule him for as little hours as possible just to have him on the books that he works ther but the guy is still making $15 per hour so i doubt he will quit. In addition to this tomarow my boyfreind and his other coworker are going to have to go BACK to a machine that the black guy was supposed to fix and fix it cus of his mistake. and this isnt the first time for that either.

Its just realy frustrating becuase my boyfreind loves his job and the people there. but the situation has gotten so bad that my boyfreinds coworker is planning on quitting jsut because he doesnt want to work with the other guy. I know how hard my boyfreind works and its sad to see someone else getting the credit for the things my boyfreind had to go back and fix even thought the company knew the other guy screwed it up.

....not sure if i can get any advice on this but its part rant part jsut letting it out to make myself feal better. I can only be like WTF so much to my boyfreind...its not to helpfull >.< i cant think of any possitive solution to the problem...i think its just going to ght to the point where the black guy screws something BIG up or someone will get hurt due to neglignce of the machinery on his part :`(

And this is why I hate affirmative action--Can't they try to find someone else of color who is more qualified? :sweat:

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've seen it happen to other people, and it's no less frustrating. If your boyfriend is really tired of it, maybe it's time to seek work elsewhere. With specialized skills, he might be in high demand somewhere?

That's not very uncommon. Companies will hire people of various ethnicities who are less qualified because they're required to meet a certain diversity among their staff. There isn't really much you can do about it, but just ignore it and move on with life. =/

GOOD NEWS: my bf told me the other day that they MIGHT fire the guy. and give him the other guys pay. the boss is fed up with it too. they need a new person, and they might have someone but the guy is of the same ethnicity as everyone else...so i dont know how much of a grace period they have to get some diversity but heres hoping!!!! also...not sure i belive it till it happens! >.<;; sounds too good to be true >.<;;
