Duo nodded. "Yeah, but this isn't so bad. They'll adjust to it pretty quickly, I think. Especially if you give 'em time to adjust before night."

"Well, either way, make yourself comfortable," Naomi said. "Maybe I can convince Osa that we should go out to eat tonight, and she can cook tomorrow."

Duo nodded. "Whatever you want." He grinned. "She definitely needs to cook for everyone, though. She'll floor them all." Which he was definitely looking forward to.

Naomi grinned.

"She will," she said. "Even if she has to catch a chicken herself, she will. She has before."

"Caught a chicken herself?" Duo laughed. "I can see that. I bet she was running around after it waving her arms around and shaking her fist at it too, huh?"

"Not at all," Naomi replied, grinning. "Though you'd think so. Nope, she controls plants, remember? Chicken never stood a chance."

Duo snorted. "Meaning the chicken was running around like crazy trying to avoid the plants trying to grab it. Although it probably wasn't smart enough to realize that."

"It tried," Naomi said, grinning widely. "It gave a valiant effort. It also tasted delicious."

"I bet." Duo laughed. "Oh man, fresh chicken... that sounds so good. You're so lucky she cooks."

"Seriously?" Naomi said. "We can get fresh meat all the time. There's a steakhouse in town that doesn't care who goes, as long as they have money, we can go there tonight if you want."

Duo nodded. "You know, I bet I could repair tech around here to help pay for it," he offered. "I'm sure your tech isn't the only thing that needs fixing."

Naomi waved a hand.

"Don't worry about it," she said. "It's only for a few days, so just kick back and relax."

Duo nodded after a moment, although he still felt kind of bad. He'd find a way to make it up to her.

"I think I'm going to go take a look at the garden. A very careful look."

"Go ahead," Naomi said, waving a hand. "Watch for the little bitey things."

"Oh trust me, I'll be watching." Duo wandered over to go take a look anyway, since he was curious. And that would give Naomi some time to settle in again.

See, he wasn't completely clueless.

Once Naomi had basked in the chill of her house for a bit, she went to find Osa and Duo and figure out what was going on. Because she was curious to see just how much fox Duo had in him.

Duo had managed to find a fairly harmless plant and crouched in front of it, while Osanna tried to teach him a few things. He didn't have much power, but she figured he might want to know anyway.

Naomi cautiously picked her way through the greenery towards them, suppressing her youki as she did so.

"Hey," she said.

Osanna waved briefly. Duo is trying to learn how to control plants. He's doing okay so far.

"This is hard," Duo complained.

That's because you've never used you energy like this before. It gets easier.

"I'm impressed," Naomi commented as she gingerly sat down in a bare space. "Being able to do it without ever having used the energy before."

Duo eyed how carefully she was moving. "Why are you being so cautious?" he asked carefully. "Should I be more cautious?" Because he already knew Osanna was kind of crazy and had crazy plants in her garden. Now to figure out if he had to be either crazy or crazy careful.

"Nope, you should be fine," Naomi replied. She gave a bit of a sheepish grin. "I need to be careful or else I might give something a terminal case of frostbite."

"Oh." Duo blinked. "Really?"

Really. Osanna grumbled. She's killed more of my plants on accident. Although she did kill a few on purpose too.

"Only a few on purpose," Naomi said. "Most by accident. But I'm getting better about it, I have more control now."

Yes you do. Thankfully. Osanna shrugged. Alright, just about time for dinner, I think. It's getting late ish. Oh, and I got those roses in two colors now.
