Trowa nodded, looking over at Osanna's house. "That's all hers?" He looked at the garden.

"Yeah. Be careful if you decide to go poke around. She's kind of protective of her plants."

Trowa frowned, looked briefly confused, and then shook it off and went back to exploring.

"Don't wander too far," Naomi said to the group in general. "There's usually nothing more threatening than Level One sprites in the woods, but it never hurts to be careful."

"Level One?" Trowa asked, turning to look at her. Clearly this hadn't been explained yet.

Naomi blinked.

"Right," she said, "I never explained it. Power is ranked in Levels here. A Zero is human, the weakest rank is a One, and so on until you reach Six, which is the strongest."

"Ah." That made sense. "Alright." Trowa kept looking around.

"I think they're all shell shocked," Duo said with a grin. "There aren't places like this anymore where we come from."

"Well, take it all in now," Naomi replied with a bit of a grin. "Maybe Osa will let everyone take a look at her garden once or twice."

Duo snickered and shook his head. He had the feeling Osanna would be delighted to have new people to show off her plants to.

"And Osa volunteered to cook tonight," Naomi added. She grinned. "It should be amazing."

Duo laughed. He could just see the looks on their faces when they got some of Osanna's cooking. he was looking forward to this.

When do I need to be done cooking? Osanna texted. Because she was still in her kitchen.

You have plenty of time, Naomi replied. They're exploring. Maybe by normal dinner time? let me know how long you think cooking will take. Even as she texted, she kept an eye on the four newcomers.

"I'll bet none of you are used to such high levels of ambient energy," she commented as Heero went by.

I can get stuff done around then. That'll be fine. Osanna grinned and kept cooking.

Heero glanced at her. "It is... different," he said carefully. He wasn't used to it at all, but he was adjusting. Duo just snorted at him.

"But you feel what I'm talking about," Naomi pointed out. "That tingly little buzz in the back of your head."

"It's not so little," Trowa said, having overheard her. "It's pretty damn prevalent right now, actually."

"You're not used to it," Naomi pointed out. "All I feel is a little tingle." And she was surprised they felt it so much, actually. They were barely more than human.

"We're supposed to notice differences in our surroundings," Duo pointed out. "We were trained that way." He shrugged. It made sense to him that they felt the difference so keenly.

"Trained that way?" Naomi asked, blinking. That was interesting.

"Yes, woman," Wufei replied peevishly. "Trained that way." He gave her a look that just screamed 'a woman wouldn't understand.' Naomi just raised an eyebrow.

Duo snickered.

"Careful, Wufei," he teased. "She might try to freeze you for that."

Wufei just snorted in a 'I'd like to see her try' way, but didn't open his mouth again. He knew better than to openly challenge their host.

Duo rolled his eyes. "Training," he said, looking at Naomi again. "We all went through rigorous training. In different places and all, but still." He shrugged. "Kind of like how I'm dure you trained to use your powers."

"Not... really," Naomi admitted. "I'm more self-taught than anything. I got some training, but not a lot of it. Went to specialty school for a few years, since I'm strong enough, but they didn't exactly tailor lessons to half-breeds."

"But you still got some training." Duo shrugged. "Same idea. We all got training of some kind. Although some of the training we had to do ourselves, just because of the nature of the job."

"The secret, paranoia-inducing, giant-robot job," Naomi observed. She held up a hand before anyone could comment and added, "I'm not going to ask about it, but I do know that's what you're referring to."

"Good enough." Duo shrugged. "That works." He glanced at the others, and none of them actually complained again. It was better than her knowing the truth.

While the guys were wandering around the yard and surrounding trees, Naomi sat down on her front steps and took out the book again.

"Alright," she said. "Where's that trans-dimension spell thing? I want to see it."

What spell? I don't know what you're talking about. Clearly the book wasn't going to be helpful.
