"What did she say?" Kurama asked. He knew how Hiei felt on the subject, and why he'd refused to tell Yukina himself.
Doesn't mean he's not mad at me, Naomi pointed out. She ignored Osanna's glower. She was immune. It may as well be my fault.

Hiei glowered briefly at the kitsune. "She said that she had figured it out, and wanted to know why I hadn't told her. But she didn't blame me." He glowered off to the side instead.
Osanna huffed and grabbed her wrist, starting to pull her over to sit so they could have tea. Well then I'll just have to encourage him to change his mind. Honestly, Naomi, it's not really your fault.

Don't you dare, I'm not going to explain why you got torched, Naomi replied even as she was pulled to sit down.
"I see," Kurama said. "Moving on, why are you upset that she figured it out?" Okay, he knew that wasn't exactly why Hiei was upset, but it was just incorrect enough to require some sort of verbal input from Hiei.

Hiei's eyes narrowed just a little. "Knowing gives her no advantage," he said stiffly. "You know how many people would like to use her to get revenge." Which he didn't like. One bit. He'd done his damndest to bury the fact that they were related, for her sake.
Osa huffed again. Oh don't worry. I'll hide behind Kurama if Spiky starts looking more pissy than normal.

"Give me a little more credit than that," Kurama said as he leaned against the tree. "We both know that isn't the entire reason."
"Good luck, then," Naomi muttered aloud. "I won't touch that mess."

Hiei's eyes narrowed. Of course there was the normal feelings that he wasn't good for her, or that she would somehow think less of him, or vague feelings like that. He didn't like talking about that, though. Even less than he liked talking about anything.
Osanna nodded and sipped at her tea, thinking of how precisely to get Hiei to cooperate with the language barrier.

When Hiei didn't say anything Kurama nodded slightly. That was the reaction he'd expected.
"It may take some time to sort that all out," he said. "Provided, of course, that you don't take it out on others."
Naomi cooled her tea slightly before she took a sip. She couldn't drink tea as hot as Osanna liked hers, but unlike normal people, she didn't have to wait for it to cool on its own.

Hiei snorted and crossed his arms over his chest. "Then they shouldn't ask about things that isn't their business." Kurama was mostly excluded from that. But only because he knew Kurama well enough by now.
Osanna waited until she'd finished her tea to get up and go see what she could do. Meaning she headed straight for Hiei, her arms crossed over her chest almost aggresively.

"You mean like a certain hanyou inside worrying over whether you're angry with her?" Kurama replied calmly. He didn't get to say anything else, though, because Osanna stormed out of the temple door.

Hiei glanced down at Osanna with a snort. "You deal with her." Because Hiei was more likely to get angry with her faster. And possibly hit her.
Osanna glowered up at Hiei but didn't actually try to talk to him. Yet.

Kurama just raised an eyebrow. He would translate between them, if he had to, but Osanna wasn't his to deal with at the moment. He wasn't the one she was angry with.

Osanna looked at Hiei, her look very clearly indicating what she thought of him before she snorted. Even she could tell he was all flustered and upset, and she wasn't even all that used to his youki.
You're a fool. Stop sulking and man up.
Hiei's eyes flashed to Kurama for a translation.

"She thinks you're being foolish," Kurama translated mildly. "And wants you to stop sulking." That was as accurate a translation as he would give, for the moment. No sense in making Hiei annoyed any further.

Hiei's eyes narrowed at the insolent being that dared insult him. Osanna glared right back at him, unwavering. Finally he huffed and looked away first.

Now that was surprising. Kurama hadn't known Hiei to back down quite like that before. He looked at his friend and raised an eyebrow.

Hiei snorted. "It's none of your business," he growled at Osanna.
It is when you upset my friend. Osanna scowled at him even more. Now get your ass inside and talk to one of them and stop sulking.

"She thinks it will be best if you talk to one of them," Kurama relayed. "And kindly not upset Naomi again." He had to admit, Osanna had guts, to speak to someone so much more powerful than her in that way. He was impressed.

Osanna glared at Hiei for a moment longer before she huffed and made her way back to the house.
Hiei snorted and watched her go before he vanished. He'd talk to one of them in a little bit. When he was calmer and not tempted to run through a particular part-youkai.

Meanwhile, Naomi was inside still sipping at her tea. Now that it was later in the afternoon, she could feel her youki staring to wane, and she watched the blue in her hair steadily shrinking. It wouldn't be much longer before she was completely human.

Hiei felt the difference and moved closer to investigate, though he didn't actually go inside yet.
Osanna had perched herself next to Naomi, relaxing there with a refilled tea cup.

Getting up for a moment, Naomi went to her bag and pulled out a lightweight jacket that she'd brought along specifically for that night. The air was getting cooler as the sun set, and she was starting to feel it. Finally, as the sun finally set, she felt the familiar pulse and slightly unpleasant twinge that signaled the end of her change for the night.
"And now to settle in and wait for sunrise," she murmured

Osanna nodded and relaxed, settling in next to her to wait. She didn't mind waiting up all night. Not for this.
Hiei crept closer, managing to get in the temple but hiding up in the rafters, peering down at Naomi curiously.

For the first time in the entire visit, Naomi was grateful it was still relatively warm out. The warmer months were the only ones that didn't send her into shivering fits when she changed. Leaning back against the wall, she sipped her tea and glanced around absently. The others had to have felt the change in energy, so now it was just a matter of who showed up first to see what was going on.

Yusuke showed up first, looking her over. "Okay, what the hell is going on?" he demanded, looking at her again. "You look different."
Hiei almost snorted, but that would give away his position, so he remained silent.

"Where we come from, half-breeds turn completely human one night a month," Naomi replied. Short, sweet, and to the point. "Tonight just happens to be mine." She was well aware that she looked a bit different: her skin was still fair, but her hair was completely brown, and a bit darker than before, and her eyes had faded more towards gray than blue.
