"We see them fairly often," Naomi admitted. "Their world is most similar to ours, after all. It's almost just like home." She smiled slightly. "And he's rather talkative, when he wants to be."

Ed snorted. Kinda like Al, then. He shook his head. "Sounds like you've got a thing for this guy."

Naomi blinked, surprised at that, and blushed a bit.

"What makes you say that?" she asked, a little hastily.

Ed smirked. "It was just a hunch but I'm right aren't I?" He grinned broadly. "Ha! I'm right." Because her blush gave her away.

"No, no you're not!" Naomi denied, still blushing brightly and shaking her head. "You shut up, Edward Elric!"

"Ha!" Ed grinned broadly. "I'm right!" He puffed up a little bit. It's not like he could, or would, do anything with that information.

"You be quiet, Ed," Naomi said again, trying to fight back the blush. "Or I'll make you."

Ed grinned hugely. "I'm not saying anything." He was mostly just pleased with himself for figuring it out.

"Good," Naomi replied. "Make sure you don't." Because she really didn't want that information getting out, not yet.

Ed grinned. "Don't worry about it. My lips are sealed."

"Good," Naomi replied. Then she knelt down to get a better look at whatever he had been showing her before.

Still smirking, Ed showed her again, going through drawing out the circle just because he figured that would be better for her. But he didn't actually transmute it yet.

"You try." Because he was curious and he had a theory he wanted to test.

Naomi blinked.

"Okay," she said, looking at the circle. "How does it work?"

"You think of what you want to make. You sort of tell yourself, "I'm going to make a clock." And then you put your hands on the circle and will it to happen." Ed shrugged. That was the best he could explain it.

Naomi blinked. It sounded a bit dumb, to be honest, but it was worth a shot. She touched the circle, doing as he said, and frowned a bit when nothing happened. She focused a bit more, pushing some of her energy forward, but all that happened was some frost started to cover the lines of the circle.

"Are you sure that's all you do?" she asked.

"Yeah." Ed watched, fairly sure he'd been right. "Like I said, not everyone can, but I think your demon half interferes with the process."

"Different kind of energy, maybe," Naomi said as she stood up and dusted off her hands. She wasn't all that put off by not being able to do alchemy.

"It's possible." Ed looked at the bit he had set up before a thought occured to him. "Your friend Osanna is only a quarter you said, right?"

"Yeah," Naomi replied, nodding, "Why?"

"Just a thought. Where did she get to?" Ed looked around, frowning a little.

"Last I checked, she was playing with the dog," Naomi replied. She shrugged. "Try out under the big tree?"

Ed nodded and managed to find her fairly quickly, pulling her back to the little alchemy circle. He was pretty sure Al followed too.

"Here. Try this." Explaining to her quickly as he had for Naomi, Ed moved out of the way.

Osanna shot Naomi a look like "he's kidding, right? This is never going to work." Rolling her eyes, she put her hands down on the circle.

And promptly fell back on her butt as the circle reacted.

Naomi blinked.

"It worked?" she asked, looking at the others. "How did it work?"

Ed was grinning. He'd thought this might happen.

"I had a theory. You two are from a different world, so your laws don't work the same way ours do. But energy is energy, no matter what. I guess the circle didn't like your energy because it's not human enough, but I think Osanna's is human enough to pass and she has more of it than the average human." He grinned, looking very proud of himself.

Osanna was still sitting there staring at the clock in disbelief.

Naomi blinked. That... actually made sense.

"Interesting," she said.

Al grinned. Trust his brother to come up with the most insane theory and be able to prove it.
