Naomi occupied herself with flicking her fingers and making little puffs of powdery snow. She only had about half her energy back, but that was more than enough to make little clouds of snow to sparkle in the moonlight. The slight breeze carried the little puffs of sparking snow over the edge of the roof, out of sight.

Ed noticed the little puffs of snow but decided not to say anything. She either couldn't sleep or she was in a bad mood, and he wasn't willing to get thrown off the roof because of either.

After a little while, Naomi climbed down from the roof again. She was still restless, and couldn't figure out a way to relax. She paused when she saw Ed, and went to sit down next to him.

"Insomnia is a bitch," she said after a moment.

"Yeah, it is." Ed sighed and settled down again. "So what's keeping you up?"

"Just things," Naomi replied, settling back on the grass. "The last few days." She quirked a bit of a grin. "I almost went on a killing spree, remember?" Okay, sort of an exaggeration, but not by much.

Ed snorted. "Got your head in a knot?" he guessed, looking over at her. He'd been through something similar once or twice before.

"Sounds about right," Naomi replied, nodding a bit. "And now this whole thing with Osa... it's just like trying to unravel a ball of yarn without knowing where the end is."

"And shaking it until it comes loose doesn't really help much." Ed nodded. "Yeah. I know that feeling."

"Yeah," Naomi agreed. "I haven't figured out how to sever this particular Gordian knot, either, so it's just been all tangled up in my head and won't go away." She sighed.

Ed shrugged. "So don't do anything about it yet. Sometimes you just need a few days for these things start undoing themselves."

"Maybe," Naomi allowed. She sighed and created a few more puffs of snow, letting them drift back down onto her.

Ed shrugged. "Just relax. Hang out here for as long as you need. Things tend to work themselves out eventually."

"You sound like you speak from experience," Naomi commented. There wasn't any sarcasm there, just observation.

"Yeah," Ed said quietly. "I do." He shrugged. "Things have worked out so far, though."

Naomi could tell it was a touchy subject, so she didn't push the issue.

"I'll take your word for it, then," she said softly.

Ed nodded and just relaxed there. "One thing I like about coming back here," he said quietly. "It's relaxing."

"It's a nice place," Naomi agreed. She quirked a bit of a grin at him. "Helps that you have a pretty blonde mechanic to come back to, as well," she teased.

Ed blushed at that but didn't say anything. "She's my mechanic," he muttered after a few moments.

"She's also pretty and, from what I understand, a childhood friend," Naomi pointed out. "And she has the biggest crush on you I've ever seen." It really was that obvious, even from Naomi's limited interactions with Winry. She grinned again. "You're blushing, Edward."

"Oh shut up," Ed grumbled. "Before I have to mention a certain black-wearing psycho." Really, if she was going to pull this on him then turnabout was just fair play.

"Just a little payback for earlier," Naomi replied innocently. "Don't you call it equivalent exchange or something like that?"

Ed just snorted. "Not for this," he grumbled. But he was rather impressed she remembered that.

Naomi just snickered, but let the subject drop.

"You know, you missed it last time," she commented after a while, moving on to a different subject. "Did I tell you I go completely human one night a month?"

Ed blinked, startled. "No." He sat up part-way to look over at her. "Entirely human? Really?"

"Really," Naomi replied. "Half-bloods like me fluctuate back and forth a lot, and so there's one night a month where everything just disappears." She grinned a bit. "Mine is two days after dark moon. You missed it by almost a week."
