"It's something to think about," Naomi mused. "I'm betting extreme temperatures are uncomfortable, too, though temperate climates probably aren't bad, right?"

Ed nodded. "Yeah. When it gets too cold it's harder to move, and it's uncomfortable. Heat is about the same way, although if I'm not careful too much heat is more damaging than cold. Fortunately rain doesn't seem to effect it too much."

"Which means it's probably stainless steel," Naomi mused. "If it doesn't rust or anything like that. And metal expands in heat, I'm not surprised it's more harmful."

Ed nodded. He knew all of that, of course, but sometimes the situations were... unavoidable. "At least it works well while I have it," he said quietly. Because that's really all that mattered to him most of the time.

"Which means Winry is good at what she does," Naomi said. She grinned. "She has to be, with how often it sounds like you bust yourself up."

"I don't beat myself up! I'm just not the most popular alchemist out there." Ed pouted, just a little, though he'd deny it furiously.

"I hear an understatement there," Naomi teased. "Seriously, Ed, given everything I've pieced together so far about you, I'm betting you've had your arm smashed to bits at least a few times. Bits small enough even Winry couldn't put back together again." She grinned and leaned back a bit. "Maybe even your leg too, but that doesn't seem quite as likely."

Ed grumped a little. "Well it was never my fault," he grumbled. "Those were extenuating circumstances, really." Because she was right, and he still didn't like admitting it.

"But it did happen," Naomi observed. That didn't surprise her, really. Ed didn't strike her as the passive type. She grinned. "Make sure to get Winry something really nice for her birthday, then. You need to thank your girlfriend for all the work she does on your automail." She was only teasing a little, really.

Ed glowered at her, although it was half-hearted at best. "Yeah, yeah. I'll get her something shiny." He brightened. "Hey, I bet I could give her something from your world and she'd have a great time taking it apart to see how it works."

Naomi snorted.

"I'm sure I have something that won't be missed," she said. She snickered. "You could always give her some power tools."

Ed snickered. "You know she'd have so much fun with those. Maybe I should just go get a few things from your world. Then I'd be set for life for birthday presents for her and she'd never be mad at me." He paused, realizing how unlikely that was. "For too long."

Naomi snorted.

"Give her a power drill and she'd be the happiest and most power-drunk mechanic on the face of the world," she said. "They even make them with every drill bit and socket-wrench attachment known to man." Not that Edward would understand what those were, but they were still mechanical, so she knew Winry would like them.

Ed waved a hand. "Yeah, yeah, as long as it works and she can find some way to use it. Then she'd be very happy."

"She would be drunk with power," Naomi said, grinning. "And I think you all have advanced enough electricity to make a power drill work, if you can manage to jury-rig a place for it to charge."

"I'm sure she could," Ed said wryly. "She'd figure out a way, even if it took her a few tries. She's lucky Pinako is used to her stunts by now."

Naomi snickered at that, but didn't comment. Settling back, she fought off a yawn. It was late, and she was finally starting to crash.

Of course, Naomi yawning set Ed off, and he yawned too. He blinked a few times before he sat up.

"Guess it's time to head inside," he muttered. Because it really wasn't a good idea for him to fall asleep outside. "Come on. In you get."

"Yeah yeah..." Naomi grumbled as she got up and brushed some grass from her clothes. She looked at him. "You know, you're not bad to talk to, when you can quit thinking about science for a little while."

"I'm never not thinking about it, I just don't speak about it." Ed grinned at her and shooed her inside. Hopefully they'd both be able to go sleep now.

Naomi just rolled her eyes and went inside. She crept into the room she was sharing with Osanna and slipped into bed. Her mind wasn't racing quite as fast anymore, so she was able to actually fall asleep.

Ed let them sleep in as late as they wanted, since he knew he liked to sleep. And he slept later than Al, anyway.

Osanna got up before Naomi did, creeping out of the room before going outside again. It was a nice day, and she was half-tempted to try more of that alchemy stuff.

Al had always been an early riser, in spite of his deep, deep desire to make up for four years of lost sleeping time, so he was up when Osanna crept out of the room.

"Good morning," he greeted brightly. "Did you sleep well?"

Osanna smiled and nodded, pulling a pad of paper from somewhere.

I did, thanks. It's nice here. Did you?

"Yeah," Al replied with a bit of a grin. "But I always do, here. It's as close to home as Brother and I have."
