"There aren't part-humans here. You're either human or you're not." Trowa's eyes narrowed.

"Explain." Heero was starting to look tempted to get rid of the bother.

"This man is a dragon and you don't believe me?" Naomi asked, pointing at Wufei. Wufei's eyes widened for a moment before narrowing again. Naomi sighed and held up one of her hands. Before the group could do more than twitch, her youki swirled up around her hand, forming clear ice around her fingers. Then she let it dissipate. "There."

Everyone was silent for a moment, and Duo put his head down in his hands.

"How did you do that?" Heero asked this time, his eyes a little wider than normal.

"It's kind of a long story," Naomi said. "And I'm not entirely sure you'll believe me, yet." Which was a fair assumption, really, given how Duo had reacted, at first.

"You just formed ice out of nothing on your fingers," Trowa pointed out. "And it felt weird while you did. What else do you want us to believe?"

"It wasn't out of nothing, there was energy there," Naomi said, glancing between them all. "And this goes back to the not-human thing."

"I think this is best explained from the beginning," Quatre said. He looked at Duo. "Especially since our friend here doesn't seem surprised."

"I'm not," Duo said with a wry smile. "I've been living with her for the past few days. Really, she's not crazy." He paused. "Well. Not about this, anyway."

Naomi rolled her eyes, but turned her attention back to the other four.

"Alright, was this the weirdness you felt?" she asked, flaring her youki a little again.

"That," Heero said, his eyes narrowing as he looked at her. "What is that?" Because he didn't know but clearly Duo did and it bugged him.

"That was energy," Naomi said. "More to the point, that was the energy that I used to make the ice you saw."

Quatre and Wufei were both quiet, trying to figure out exactly what kind of energy it was, and how a girl could manipulate it on her own. It didn't make any sense.

"You realize this still doesn't make any sense," Trowa said. They were all thinking it, after all.

"I know," Naomi said. She sighed. "I know. I need to figure out how to explain it better." She was quiet for a moment. "Okay, starting from the beginning: I'm from a place where you kind of have to throw some of the laws of physics and such out the window. Only approximately half the population is human, the rest is either completely not-human, or a mix of the two. I got dropped here through means of a magic book that decided it was a fantastic time to misbehave, so I'm kind of stranded here for the moment." She looked at them. "Did any of that make sense at all?"

"No. Not much." Trowa looked at her.

"She's telling the truth," Duo piped up. "I've seen the book, and I've been to one of these other worlds. It's true."

"It seems a little too fantastical to be true," Quatre said. Even as he said it, his skepticism was fading. He could tell the girl wasn't lying. He glanced at the others. "Heero? Wufei?"

Heero scowled slightly. He didn't believe the story himself, but he also knew the girl wasn't lying, and he knew Duo wasn't either. He didn't much like it, but he nodded slowly.

"I would need more proof to be certain."

"Agreed," Wufei said.

"Proof like what?" Naomi asked carefully.

"This book of yours," Heero said cautiously.

"It's not working yet," Duo pointed out. "But when it is, she might be able to take you all along."

"It might not want to behave," Naomi said, going into her bag, "but it might argue." She pulled out the book and opened it. "Now all I need is a lighter."

Quatre and Wufei both leaned forward just slightly, watching the blank pages intently. Both wanted to watch and make sure they weren't being fooled somehow.

Duo pulled a lighter out of somewhere, tossing it over to her. "All yours. Just try not to set anything else on fire." So far, the Book had made no reply.

Naomi gave him a look.

"What, were you like a Boy Scout in another life or something?" she asked as she caught the lighter. Automatically, she tested to make sure it worked.

Duo just laughed and shook his head, watching her. He was certainly curious to see how this was going to go. Especially since the Book was remaining stubbornly silent.

Naomi turned her attention to the book.

"I did say I was going to start burning pages," she muttered. Flicking the lighter on, she held one page up from the rest and held the flame close to it. The edge of the paper began to darken and curl.

The Book fluttered, the single page trying to flick away from her.

What the bloody blue hell do you think you're doing, woman?!

Heero's eyes went comically wide when he saw writing appear in the book without seemingly any cause.

Naomi smirked.

"Good, so you are talking to me," she said, pulling the lighter away again. "Don't be such a pansy, it's not more than a corner. But I did warn you."

Wufei swore softly in Chinese, even as Quatre's eyes went wide.

Oh so I could just leave a toe or two behind next time I'm able to jump you and you won't freak out at all, is that what you're saying?
