Hey everyone... The last few days I've noticed up my pores? Or maybe it's just the skin having a reaction...well anyway it looks like little holes in my skin on small areas of my cheeks, a bit below my eyes. I have no idea what has been causing this or what exactly it is. But I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems and how I could reduce this?

There are some good pore cleansers on the market. I use one that's made by the same company that makes my aftershave (but I spaced the name and don't wanna walk to the shower to find out). Basically when your pores look big they are either full of dirt and oil or irritated by something, so a good scrub helps.

Just use a scrub that's really gentle, for sensitive skin. Over cleansing will irritate whatever it is even more.

Having been to the shower since last I posted, the one I am using is by Nivea For Men. There was also a pretty good apricot scrub I think by Tom's of Maine? I've used in the past.

Hey I'm 41 and I still get pimples, I do have a few less wrinkles than others my age tho. Oily skin has some advantages! :D

That's so weird, because that sounds exactly like what's going on, on my face.
I figured they were pores, but I've got no clue what to do about them.

edit::

After reading explodey's post, mine are probably irritated, as I do tend to rub that area quite a bit...

Make sure to use a cleanser that's specifically meant for your face. :D Other skin soaps are REALLY hard on your face, and you'll go from having oily skin to dry skin! Also try digging up the old "toothpaste on acne" posts, there were a few of them a month or so back, and they had a lot of good skincare tips.

Just as a jump, does anyone else have oily AND dry skin? Christ, I don't even know how to start handling my face..

I've been using skin cleansers called Velocity and then some Clean & Clear.

Velocity by Mary Kay? It works great, and has a really invigorating scent! It's one of my favorite products from them. <3

@anaxilea: Ugh, I have combination skin. :gonk: The only thing I do differently is avoid putting moisturizer in my T-zone.
I should probably wash my face differently.. But I just use a gentle scrub.

The worst for me is RIGHT on my hair line, and I get so self-conscious because it makes me look like I have dandruff, but I don't! It's just my freaking face skin! D: Faces... wish I could just rip mine off, give it a proper scrub, and put it back on!

Haha. Same here with the ripping your face!
My nose gets super oily. Luckily I'm not too prone to getting pimples or anything, but they are super annoying when I do.
I think I've just taken to drinking lots of water and keeping my hands off my face.

That's most of my problem right there... if I don't have a necklace to play with (I'm very ADD or multitasker-disorder, depending on if you believe ADD exists :D), I'll rub my face and neck red without even thinking about it. I just checked the mirror and it turns out I've been doing it all class. Yikes!

Of course, I'm ghost pale and bruise more easily than every person I know, so you could poke me and it'd be red for hours.

Yea I love Mary Kay products but Velocity is my favorite, because of my combination to oily skin it helps a lot. But then the other day I noticed this little issue and just wondered is something was wrong. I've been self conscious about my skin for as long as I can remember but now that it's clearing up the little things worry me.

@Ana: Oh wow! Make sure you have something then!
My problem is just leaning on my hand at times or picking at my face. I don't do these too often though. I saw something on the television the other day that's supposed to help with oily skin... witch hazel towelettes. I haven't found any though. Just the witch hazel in a bottle.

I want to try this Velocity though. Is it working well for you guys?

Yeah, I try to remember to give myself something to play with! It's much easier in college, when it's alright to have electronics.

Velocity works great for me. Mary Kay is always a great way to go.

Velocity has cleared up my skin amazingly, it works really well if you have oily skin. This is because it's made for younger skin like that of teens or young adults.

Try finding a Mary Kay consultant in your area or go on their website. I recommend both the Velocity cleanser and the moisturizer. It keeps down the oiliness of my skin and clears away blemishes.
