It is really hard to pick which pairing I like most as I like all these potential roles. Would this idea be mixed with magic and fantasy? Or would you prefer a more realistic approach?

With magic, I could see a story starting with someone locked away in a dungeon. Imprisoned wrongly, he/she has been locked away for at least a month, perhaps more. But what lead he/she to this imprisonment? A mishap. You see, our prisoner is actually more than what they're pretending to be. Born royal, a prince(ss) to be exact, this trapped individual landed behind bars when a so called friend through him/her under a bus.

Long story short, a betrayal happened and that friend decided to steal the crown along with the source of power (could be the crown, a ring, a staff, whatever). This our royal friend had never really left the castle (ah the joys of overbearing parents), no one really knows what he/she looks like.

But what if the parents? Well, they have yet to return from their voyage across the sea. It's safe to assume that their ship went down in a storm. And who would know these details better than the prince(ss)'s best friend!

With none the wiser (and those who do discover the truth dying mysteriously), the imprisoned royal has lost the will to fight. There's no hope in these sorrowful eyes. But then, one morning, a miracle happens. A stranger breaks into the dungeon with the quest to retrieve someone.

All chaos breaks loose and the stranger is forced to make a choice -- die while trying to find the right person, or escape with a random prisoner. Opting for the latter, the stranger happens across the cell of the royal. Together, the two escape further into the dungeon's abyss to a waterway system that supposedly links to all the surrounding systems.

The story would then pick up from there. Perhaps the posts will start with a reflection and then soon catch up to the escaping.

As far as the rest of the story is concerned, the stranger and royal are going to team up to reclaim the royal's kingdom. To do that, they'll need to find new allies and devise a plan to expose the fraud ruler. Oh, and while they're at it, they need to make sure they keep their head's low. With the word of the prison break spreading across the land, the betrayer has hired up mercenaries to kill the prince(ss) to prevent any potential messes.

And that's about all I have hatched up. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but at least it's an idea. We can always revise parts or, if you don't like this, start over. Of course, that's if you'll have me.

Psssshhhh I see how it is, now that I've given you a nice hard prod about it you're suddenly giving me a go, eh? xP

Well, like I said, I have been in your thread several times over the past couple of days. Originally, I wasn't sure I would want a dungeon-punk story but now that I've been thinking about it, it actually sounds fun. It's certainly different from the other stories I've currently got going. Besides, I enjoy people who call me out on things. It riles me up and gets me ready for some action.

And that's fine. No rush. I should probably think about lunch and editing photos. Only 600+ more to go. NBD. *eye roll*

We actually had an rp together at one point, ^^;; but it appears I was the one to blame for it dying that time.

I remembered that we had roleplayed once before. It was when I first was trying RPs for the first time. I seem to remember enjoying roleplaying with you. So if you are willing to roleplay with me again, I would be thrilled. I have this vision of how mercenaries work, but need a world and story for it to be placed in.

There is a mercenary guild. All mercenary groups winter there and in the spring are up for hire. The mercenary groups are all led by leaders and have their own guidelines and rules that are enforced by the guild. There is a blacklist for employers who mistreat or don't fulfill their end of the bargain that mercenary groups can look at. The weapons that are very well made are done so at the mercenary guild, so being kicked out of the guild guarantees you that your equipment won't be the best. I would like to play a character who either is a mercenary or a former mercenary.

What do you think?

Hmm.. As a general rule I normally don't pick up old RPs, I kinda wish I knew why I gave up on it though, it didn't look like we were having any problems lol.

As for your idea, it appears you've got one aspect of it down, specifically the mercenaries and what they do/their community in general, but where does the story go? What kind of world are we looking at?

I was hoping for your help on that. I like to have some sort of a conflict that needs solving. Or bad guys that need putting out. Some direction that the story can follow no matter the side steps taken. If you have a character in mind, that could help too. Or create a character later to meet the idea. Either way.

You know, if you're comfortable with my usual fave setting, a Dungeon Punk style world, then I'm pretty sure I could built the rest from what you've already given me and believe me what you've given me has been more than sufficient in sparking ideas already, lol

I completely understand. Because I am getting another degree, I do have online classes taking up a lot of my time. That plus looking for work. I try to post every day. But I can only promise once a week. And if you can't post often, I'm not going to cry. I usually match those I roleplay with. You won't have a lot of stress, hopefully, with me.

In simple terms, Dungeon Punk is Steampunk with less Victorian Era influences. Throw in magic, more often than not acting as replacements for technology, (Example; steam engine run by a magical fire-core)

The amount of tech we include can be as much or as little as we like, usually just using what we want for convenience sake (but usually not advanced things like computers or mobile phones, etc etc)

Advanced weapons, in this scenario could be guns, but there could be swords with tech installed into them or other such things. There could be ruins to ancient advanced civilizations and those could actually be the source of the magic tech, etc etc. Go for broke, have fun with it.

Very cool. I like it. I also like the idea of ruins to ancient advanced civilizations.

Maybe my main weapon will be a sword that causes non-metal objects it comes into contact with burst into flames.

The sword's name is going to be Megalide. Megaly=enlargment and ide=to kill, to destroy... I guess Medical Terminology class came in handy.

Or it could literally just be a sword that utilizes the flame element xD I do actually have a character idea and a meeting idea, though it would work best with your char being merc, not an ex-merc because he'll be hiring. Would you want a well-known or not well-known merc?

I think maybe not that well known. Someone who has a good reputation. Just not a widely proclaimed. Maybe she goes out of her way to avoid bards ;)

LoL well then it lines up with my idea more or less perfectly, :3 I just need to come up with a character appearance and abilities.

Not at the moment, I'm actually having a bit of writers block right now ^^;; but if you have any ideas, I'm not beyond hearing them (yes I know that sounds silly and contradictory but I like seeing what other people come up with since it's usually me coming up with crazy convoluted stories and plots to begin with)

Psh if I was planning a fandom I'd write a list of fandoms, xP never been one for wand-waving wizards unless it suited the character.

I also find the idea of a secret wizard society amusing, but frankly a little too convenient, considering both wizards AND monsters seem to be out of 'muggle eyes' until some dark wizard decides to show how awesome he is by killing completely helpless opponents. Hm, I don't know about students, necessarily. I love the idea of magic and fantasy, but as you said, two magic students usually brings up the Harry Potterverse xD

Maybe they can be two students from two separate mentors? Like Merlin and King Arthur, before he was king. One of our characters could be learning how to master healing magic from their mentor, and another could be learning...I don't know, beast mastery XD

They are both taken far from civilization, so that their lessons could go on without interruption, but at some point they wander into each other. Maybe their teachings oppose each other, like light magic against dark magic, so they aren't supposed to continue seeing each other, or maybe the mentors have some sort of history and dislike each other. For some reason or another, the two students aren't supposed to interact with one another, but being they are both the same age and the only socialization they have, they try to meet each other often.

I don't know, this is just a story off the top of my head xD
I figure the characters could be around seventeen-nineteen, maybe opposite genders, and they're both a bit resentful of their mentors/seclusion. Does this sound...interesting? :O I think it could be a good start

Hmm well, maybe not Arthur/Merlin, we could some other name for whatever they are (if given the opportunity I prefer to create my own world, give us a bit more freedom).

It's an interesting concept maybe, though you'd think they'd be much further apart if the intent was to keep them apart lol, so it's more likely they either dont know eachother/that they should interact or not.

Perhaps their master/teachers come from rivaling schools, like you mentioned, maybe not directly light and dark but certainly opposing sides of some kind of conflict. Maybe from opposing kingdoms? But best of all they probably don't know it.

They're just two young adults that want some social interaction for once and a break from the constant study and seclusion.

Also what kind of world are we looking at? medieval fantasy? Dungeon Punk? Modern or Scifi? (my personal pref will always be Dungeon Punk lol)

Whatever the setting I can totally get behind the idea in general and we can build up the world and story from there. Also do you use Skype at all?
